I haven't really looked into the feelings about reflection, but C++'s reflection support is ass anyway. And for the longest time, Godot's codebase was C++03. It was only in 4.0 did they upgrade to C++17.
So I think it is more that they simply didn't have the proper tools at the time of GDNative's creation (and now GDExtension).

For the most part, yeah. I don't mess with 2D all that much though. So I don't know the difference in what is possible with shader work in Unity & Godot on the 2D side.

I do enjoy GDScript honestly. It's a nice, small language that does its job. But the engine is designed with the idea that you're doing all of that stuff in the editor. Creating a scene in C++ is garbage.

main thing that bugs me is the obfuscation, I get that its an abstract system and that helps performance but the front end doesnt have to be a 1:1 representation. They could make it so the front end stuff is easier

Threading is a mixed bag in Godot. Not that great of support for it per se and plenty of gotchas. But 4 is supposed to have a new threading model, so who knows at this point. It's not that well tested.

I think part of the issue is the people with the C++ knowledge write the tools and they dont actually need the tools in the way other people who cant write those tools do. Bit of a catch 22 since you have to take input from down the chain and move it up which isnt typically how companies like to operate... criticism flows down 😉

if you write the code for the blueprint/actor system, and intend people to use them to combine a bunch of components into something new... you should be able to guess that people might add more than 3 components, and then want to sort them, you are now a coder, and what do coders like, order, much order... do they think artists are all chaotic people who dont like order? how right they are, but we need order anyway

I feel you but it has to do with time management, I certainly agree with alot of things people ask for but C++ resources are limited especially those capable of writing editor tools. Unfortunately even if it seems obvious and is taken into consideration there are so many factors which get in the way.
