I'm using LuaMachine in UE, and my character system is data-oriented. There is only single class and it's pooled. LuaMachine is able to run lua by FString without requiring any lua file. I have an FString field in my character data asset and I want to use it for debug code but I'm confused about what is the best way to access recently spawned character, so I cant print string on top of it etc.

I either could write UObject for each usecase (or for each class) or just have an FString in character data asset and let lua execute it

Godot nailed that sweet spot of being able to do what a good number of people want an engine to do. Being completely free, having an approachable scripting language and having a fairly pleasant workflow. There are many things to like about Godot imo. I just don't really agree with the engineering direction (which I've been fairly clear about in the past with them).

there's a bunch of new products like pico 4 or the htc standalone that might be even better speccd. playing without any cables is super great. ive recently started hl2 vr over airlink and I have my whole living room for it lol

The index has very nice visuals, very comfortable and easy to adjust. knuckles are quite freeing since they are tightly strapped to your hands it's a shame more games to find excuses to have finger things. Some do, but it often doesn't replicate.

for the index it doesn't matter where you put the base stations as long as they are opposite corners, one low one high. they can screw on tripods also. I've mounted one to celling and one to wall, have only need to recalibrate a handful of times over a few years. some will say VR gets old quickly but not for me and many others. I really recommend setting the bar high and having your first VR experience be half life alyx, thats what I did and never looked back

I couldn't get enough of it, I beat the whole thing it was just so good. You can really lose your self when you have a big enough area, like 3x3m set aside and you actually open and physically walk through doors. I've actually never played beat saber because they have arcade kits everywhere I go it seems like
Eye of the temple is a really fun game also and is one of the first to require a 3x3m playspace, highly recommend
For me the novelty of VR wearing off was not physically walking through doors and all that kind of stuff anymore lol but every so often there are some VR games that will really bring you back to that space
Now I need to check and see if that flat earth VR game is ready, you play as someone who is trying to convince humanity that the earth is flat and for some reason everyone needs to evacuate
