Soo I upgraded to a 170hz monitor and the difference between 144hz and 170hz is surprisingly noticeable, it isn't as large as 60-144hz but it is definitely noticeable (didn't think there would be that much difference), everything is super smooth

For stuff like horizon zero dawn that isn't competitive I don't really care as long as it's above 60, preferably around 100, which it does achieve, I'm getting around 130 on average

it's not just the pure refresh rate, this monitor also has much better response times, even at the same 144hz the picture on this new monitor is a lot clearer, less ghosting and blurring when moving around

Lies, I tested recently for 2 weeks a change from 60 to 144 and... I'm not sure I noticed anything.
Maybe it got a bit smoother, but I doubt whether it was placebo or there was really a difference.
However, there was better response, less ghosting - definitely. It was your average 1-2 ms monitor.
