I found it easier to work with than the wall plates, so it actually saved time

But obviously you still have to do the standard wall plates on the other end

Only important thing when buying parts is match same with same. If cat6, prefer all cat6 (you'll get the speed of the slowest part), and DON'T match shielded with unshielded. No real reason to get shielded stuff for residential unless you have crazy interference problems.

I'm a bit overly cautious, so I used leather gloves when doing the wall punches. You have to put a lot of pressure on the end cap and I was certain I would end up jabbing my hand with the blade.

The testers are more expensive than the crimping tools IIRC

I know with the testers you have to be careful that you don't plug them into live wire. They are super fragile.

The crimping tool is to make wires you can plug into the sockets. The punchdown is for the stuff that permanently attaches to the walls

Fair enough. Good to have on hand. You can always use the crimping tool to make wires of any length (IE if you have wire that is way too long)

Though in practice I got impatient and just put up with wires that are too long

I buy the overpriced cat6 wires from Ubiquiti because I like their smaller diameter. Though they aren't as durable as the regular stuff.

there tends to be a purity with a language in its infancy, they arnt perfect, perhaps less perfect than latter revisions but they can still aid far more to productivity in simplicity
