I've long wanted to get into practicing/learning djing myself and love love love finding and cataloguing music I find but don't you generally need to get a deck to practice on first? always kept me from jumping into it bc of the price - tho on second thought maybe I could jerryrig a midi controller or smth hmm

Omg so I just found out I can switch my flight to leave at ~5:30am and get there at 7:30 am tomorrow, meaning I might make it to anime central on top of everything.... Thinking about full sending and staying awake for almost 24 hours until the end of the DJ set set☠️

The DJ set I did was kind of a one off, I’ve always toyed with it in Ableton and VR, but didn’t want to buy a proper DJing controller for a special occassion. What I ended up doing was using a free software called Mixxx, and mapped the controls of my Novation LaunchControl XL, which I normally use in my live sets to control stems and effects, and used that as my controller! The setup was pretty effective for the type of DJing I wanted to do!

And cost effective for me personally as I already owned the gear.

For that setup I just kind of had to rely on insuring I had cues set up for the songs if I didn’t want to start at the beginning, because LaunchControl’s don’t have jog wheels for obvious reasons
