Hi everyone, I am looking for help with strong micro stutters in Microsoft Flight Simulator. I have an RTX 4070 and I am currently on the latest NVIDIA driver 591.86. For about two weeks I have been getting sudden heavy micro stutters, especially when I am sitting in the cockpit and looking left or right. It stutters a lot even though overall FPS looks good. I never had this issue before. One important detail is that the stuttering started two or three days before I installed the new driver, and the previous driver was fine. I already reinstalled the sim, removed all add ons, and tested only with the Fenix and GSX. I did not notice a clear difference from GSX. Other aircraft also show the issue, but it is strongest in the Fenix. I also tried without Auto FPS and it was exactly the same. Next I want to try a driver rollback to a slightly older version, clear the caches, and do a clean GPU driver uninstall and reinstall. Has anyone had similar issues recently or any idea what could be causing this?

You may have provided insufficient information in your tech support post. These might be useful to include to assist with troubleshooting.

  • Whether this is a desktop PC, laptop PC, or Microsoft Surface (including desktops, laptops, and tablets)
  • Full CPU name (e.g. Intel Core i7-14700K)
  • (Desktop only) Full motherboard name (e.g. MSI PRO B760M-A)
  • RAM model, slots used, and speed (including whether XMP/EXPO is in use, if a desktop). (Find this with CPU-Z or Task Manager > Performance > Memory)
  • GPU (e.g. RTX 4070)
  • Model of the storage device your OS (e.g. Windows, Linux) is installed to
  • Model of the storage device your game/app to be troubleshooted is installed to, if different from the OS drive
  • (Desktop only) PSU model and capacity
  • OS version (e.g. Windows 11 24H2. The year edition part (e.g. 24H2) is considered part of the version and should not be omitted. Similarly, for Linux distributions, include the full name of the installed release including any variant suffixes (e.g. Linux Mint 24 Cinnamon)
  • (Desktop and external monitors) Monitor model, resolution, refresh rate, and cable used (e.g. HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, DVI, or USB Type-C, including mini variants where applicable)
  • The game or app you are trying to run (please also specify where you get your games from like Steam/Battle.net/Xbox Game Pass)

Answering these questions might also help:

  • Have you reinstalled the Nvidia drivers by removing them with DDU, and reinstalling them by downloading the drivers manually and installing them?
  • Did you perform a driver rollback? If yes, by what method?
  • Have you made any changes to your PC in the past few days (including but not limited to software and hardware installations)?
  • Have you encountered any error codes/blue screens/graphical glitches when encountering the problem? If yes, describe steps to reproduce the problem. Please send a photo/screenshot/video of the problem here as well.
