Specs:
Ultra 7 255HX
Nvidia Geforce RTX 5070 lap
16go RAM (5600mhz DDR5)
windows 11

Micro-stutter in almost every game while getting very high FPS and no drops. Sometimes it's barely playable, and I just can't understand why. I updated everything, checked for any bottleneck or throttling, or even other software issues, but nothing seems to work. Even changing monitors, game quality, FPS cap, etc., doesn't seem to do a thing. With Afterburner, I saw some big latency variations in my frames, explaining why I feel these stutters, but I can't solve the problem.

You may have provided insufficient information in your tech support post. These might be useful to include to assist with troubleshooting.

  • Whether this is a desktop PC, laptop PC, or Microsoft Surface (including desktops, laptops, and tablets)
  • Full CPU name (e.g. Intel Core i7-14700K)
  • (Desktop only) Full motherboard name (e.g. MSI PRO B760M-A)
  • RAM model, slots used, and speed (including whether XMP/EXPO is in use, if a desktop). (Find this with CPU-Z or Task Manager > Performance > Memory)
  • GPU (e.g. RTX 4070)
  • Model of the storage device your OS (e.g. Windows, Linux) is installed to
  • Model of the storage device your game/app to be troubleshooted is installed to, if different from the OS drive
  • (Desktop only) PSU model and capacity
  • OS version (e.g. Windows 11 24H2. The year edition part (e.g. 24H2) is considered part of the version and should not be omitted. Similarly, for Linux distributions, include the full name of the installed release including any variant suffixes (e.g. Linux Mint 24 Cinnamon)
  • (Desktop and external monitors) Monitor model, resolution, refresh rate, and cable used (e.g. HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, DVI, or USB Type-C, including mini variants where applicable)
  • The game or app you are trying to run (please also specify where you get your games from like Steam/Battle.net/Xbox Game Pass)

Answering these questions might also help:

  • Have you reinstalled the Nvidia drivers by removing them with DDU, and reinstalling them by downloading the drivers manually and installing them?
  • Did you perform a driver rollback? If yes, by what method?
  • Have you made any changes to your PC in the past few days (including but not limited to software and hardware installations)?
  • Have you encountered any error codes/blue screens/graphical glitches when encountering the problem? If yes, describe steps to reproduce the problem. Please send a photo/screenshot/video of the problem here as well.

Missing:

  • Display specs
  • Is the laptop plugged in?

  • RAM specs (slots used? This != capacity. If you don't know what this means, show Task Manager > Performance > Memory)
#
  • What games?
  • Your monitors don't support adaptive sync of any kind - see if these stutters still exist with VSYNC ON and frame limit set to exactly half or a third or a quarter of your monitor.
#

For the 144Hz monitor, try 72FPS
For the 240Hz monitor, try 120FPS, 80FPS, or 60FPS

#

Any result with Vsync off will not be considered.

#

Also, if Low Latency Mode in NVIDIA App/Control Panel was set to anything other than OFF, turn it off.

If NVIDIA Reflex was turned On, turn it Off too
