#DLSS 4 + Vignette = The worst ghosting artifacts I’ve ever seen

I found a very odd effect of combining Vignette with DLSS in Horizon Forbidden West.

This happens at all DLSS qualities and also with DLAA. It doesn’t happen with Vignette off, and it doesn’t happen with FSR or XeSS.

One perhaps important detail is that I forced DLSS 4 Transformer through the Nvidia App.

It’s very strange. Like, surely DLSS should have enough information from the game to know not to mess with the Vignette filter?

Pic 1 is when moving the camera away from the shown corner

Pic 2 is when moving towards the corner.

Anybody have any ideas?
I only just discovered this cause I only just decided to turn vignette on, realizing it actually looks a lot better in this particular game.

Important to mention this is stricly DLSS, not DLSS FG

The effect is also there in CNN, but very very subtle in comparison to Transformer. Maybe 5-10% as bad

just to confirm - is this monitor ultrawide?

(e.g. a normal 1080p monitor is 1920x1080, while a UW is at least 2560x1080 (same vertical))

seems like this might be specific to this game and it's just an unfortunate consequence of the way they implemented Vignette, and that DLSS 4 isn't native. Something about the upscaling pipeline not being perfected I guess, things being handled in the wrong order or DLSS not getting the neccesary information from the game

yeah, it's basically a risk for games where DLSS4 is forced
