#Discord screen sharing issues
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
This seems to be happening with games that came out a few months ago to a few years ago. Games like Elden ring night reign, party animals, star citizen, hell let loose, halo infinite, destiny 2, black ops 6.
Games that has been fine are the newer ones that Nvidia drivers were made for like bf6, borderlands 4, and I am hoping arc raiders will be fine tomorrow.
In order to understand your problem/issue further, we would like you to provide additional specs of your PC/Laptop. Please provide the following specs:
- Laptop Model (If you are using a laptop)
- CPU Model
- Motherboard Model
- RAM Model & Speed (Please tell us if you have enabled XMP or using custom timings)
- GPU Model
- SSD/HDD Model & Capacity (Specify where is Windows installed to)
- PSU Model & Capacity (Not applicable for laptop)
- Windows Version (Please also state the Windows version as well, such as 23H2 or 24H2, etc.)
- Monitor model, resolution, refresh rate and cable used (HDMI or DisplayPort)
- Apps & games you are trying to run (Please also specify where you get your games from like Steam/Battle.net/Xbox Game pass)
In addition to the following specs, we would like you to answer the following questions:
- Have you reinstalled the Nvidia Drivers by removing them with DDU and reinstalling them by downloading the drivers manually and installing them?
- Have you made any changes to your PC/Laptop in the past few days (such as software/hardware install)?
- Have you encountered any error codes/bluescreens/graphical glitches when encountering the problem? Describe steps to reproduce the problem. Please send a photo/screenshot/video of the problem here as well.
9800 x3d with a 5080
i came from a 3080 and used DDU and tried the newest driver and the last 3 drivers. all uninstalled with DDU to install each one. seems to work with a few games but there are a good amount of games when i screen share on discord it flickers and also flickers my task bar on windows
For example.
Same thing happens on star citizen, bo6, Helldivers 2, civilization 6, party animals
Games it’s fine on and doesn’t flicker is battlefield 6, borderlands 4, destiny 2, halo infinite, hunt showdown.
These all worked with the 3080 with 0 issues
What Windows version are you using?
windows 11 25h2 now
And does it affect those that are watching the stream?
i was using 23h2 then upgraded to 24h2 yesterday. then today 25h2. all doing the same thing
Are they seeing any flicker?
and yes during the stream they all see that flicker.
so far 50% of my games do this and the other half don't do this. the ones it tends to not do it are the more recent "game ready" driver updates for new games
"Use our latest technology to capture your screen" - Turn this off
did that
on and off?
did all the hardare acceleration on and VRR game mode stuff on the windows settings too
yes on and off
i went through literally every single trouble shooting from youtube to the reddits threads. nothing worked.
Also, make sure what you are streaming from are from the PRIMARY monitor set on Windows
Nvidia is just terrible at multi-monitor especially if DSC is engaged
yeah that is also set
Does it also happen with a single monitor?
yes. on both monitors. tried different cables tooo
Also please specify your monitor specs to check if DSC is engaged or not
Even with a single monitor (the other monitor is not connected or on)?
correct
Please note that other programs have their own overlays and may interfere with the NVIDIA overlays and game filters. These programs include but not limited to:
- "Activate Windows" watermark
- Xbox Game Bar
- AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition
- Intel Arc Graphics
- MSI Afterburner/Rivatuner Statistics Server
- Razer Cortex
- OMEN Command Center
- Steam
- EA App
- GOG Galaxy
- Ubisoft
- Discord
- Any app that draws itself on top of the desktop/game window
Please check the settings app for each individual app to disable the third-party overlays if you have any issues with NVIDIA overlays.
Activate Windows watermark:
Purchase and activate Windows. This watermark is considered an overlay and can interfere with presentation.
Xbox Game Bar (Default Shortcut: Windows logo key + G) :
Some other software depends on the Game Bar to maximize hardware performance and/or functionality. (e.g. AMD X3D CPUs) Disable only if you know what you're doing.
Game Bar is not easily disabled on Windows 11, and shouldn't be.
On Windows 10, Open Settings > Gaming > Turn off the toggle that starts with Enable Xbox Game Bar.
**AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition (Default Shortcut: Alt + R): ** [Note that this default keybind is shared with NVIDIA's default]
Navigate to Preferences (cogwheel icon) > General > Toggle off "Show Overlay"
**Discord (Default Shortcut: Shift + ` (backtick)): **
Open User Settings (Cogwheel at bottom left next to profile name) > Game Overlay and toggle off the "Enable Overlay" & “Enable Legacy Overlay” option.
**RTSS/MSI Afterburner (Check RTSS/MSI Afterburner for Keybinds/Shortcut as this is set by user): **
RTSS automatically starts if any monitoring overlay is enabled in MSI Afterburner. If that is enabled, or RTSS is currently running as its own overlay provider, either disable the overlays completely, close RTSS, and close and restart Afterburner, or just simply close RTSS (if Afterburner is not in use)
**Steam (Default Shortcut: Shift + Tab): **
Go to Steam > Settings > In game > Disable “Enable The Steam Overlay While In-Game”. You can also do this on an per-app basis by right clicking your game > select Properties > Disable “Enable The Steam Overlay While In-Game”
**Intel Arc Control (Default Shortcut: Alt + O): **
Go to Settings > App Preferences > Window Mode is set to “Disable Overlays”
**Razer Cortex (Default Shortcut: Shift + ' (apostrophe)): **
Uninstall Razer Cortex. This app is redundant with other apps that perform the same functionality.
Live wallpapers (e.g. Wallpaper Engine) use system resources and can be considered like running a full-screen game at all times, with the performance drop accompanying it. For best performance while gaming, exit them fully. Do not pause them.
The same also applies to automated wallpaper changing, which will cause a momentary load spike every time the wallpaper changes. This applies even to Windows' own wallpaper changer! Pause the wallpaper changes, or disable it, before playing games, to prevent unexpected periodic stutters.
don't have wallpaper engine
i have tried the last 3 new drivers that have came out for borderlands 4 bf6 and now arc raiders.
also, i tried an old one that was 566.xx
also i used DDU for each one before installing
also even tried studio drivers at one point
gsync on and off as well
Looks like a fault with the NVENC chip
this also happens on my 3080
Right. Tell me your monitor specs
Hz and resolution
165hz 1440p
DSC shouldn't be engaged
i tried lowering the refresh rate of the monitor
Probably discord or driver issues at this point
Also try this: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1kgxdno/psa_windows_11_24h2_microsoft_issue_causing/
Does it also affect OBS and Shadowplay?
yeah not sure whats going on. like i said new games work good and very few old ones but then there are some like star citizen or party animals that flicker
OH
also a weird one. when using dx11 on star citizen, it flickers, when using vulkan mode, it doesn't
no not at all. those when recording videos or streaming works flawlesly
yes
Windows reinstall?
i have not done that yet

There are software you think there isn't an overlay but it does have
dumb question: nothing is plugged into the motherboard display right?
oh no
Both are plugged directly to the GPU right?
Might be a windows issue
it's unlikely 2 cards have the same issue
I assumed it might be a faulty VRAM chip but if it happens on both....
i just find it weird half the games work and half don't
thats why i thought it was something on NVidias side because i even saw other users on different threads with the same issue
ill give that a shot and keep you updated
then it shouldn't happen on driver 566 right?
