#desperate GPU Upgrade

getting too outdated
plus its dying
Before you upgrade your gpu may get to know you what cpu ( processor) you currently using with 1080ti with?
as mentioned: Ryzen 5 9600x
gaming
promoting amd on the nvidia server is crazy
nvida is not rascist
it's like saying "just play roblox" on the minecraft server
Is there a rule saying we aren't allowed to promote AMD? I don't see one, unless it's promoting politics
I bought a 5090 and this happened after 5 months, do not get Nvidia stuff, go with AMD
too expensive in my currency
Australian dollars
what exactly am i looking at here
is that your cat in the background
Is the gpu burned?
I don't know, no physical damage to the connector on the GPU itself
But the plastic melted inside the pin holes, so i can't simply replace the cable, it's in RMA rn, 8 weeks to wait
I'm using my old gpu and it has significantly impacted my workflow
I'm never ever buying anything from green goblin's again
If the cable burnt within a week I would have been able to get instant replacement from my seller, but now I have to send it back to MSI. Nvidia was warned about this, they should have learnt their lesson with the 4090s, they still insist on using a single power connector cable
what about the 4070 Super/4070 Ti Super or 4080 Super models?
its either 40 series or 9000 series RX models im hoping to get
To be honest, 5080 would be a solid choice, I said I wouldn't be getting anything from Nvidia strictly for their 90s, the 5080 is at MSRP right now. Some are even cheaper than AMD GPU right now
im finding 4070/4080 models cheap in Australia
and my 9600x is still more powerful enough to handle them
so
How much are they
4070 Super PNY OC is $969
Yea 5080 is 999 to a 1000
for a 5080
Some places here are selling them at MSRP, if you can find them
Damn I guess the price drop is localised atm
i refuse to pay that much for an NVIDIA card
I found one that's 1173
But that symbol is a dollar
yes but AUD and USD look the same for $ but theyre different
Why get a 40 when 50s are dropping price
bc i dont want my house to burn down </3
That's 1073 AUD
ive seen all the reviews and they look horrible "my PSU died while my RTX 5090 sucked up 600W"
I heard 50 series are very stable, 5090 is the exception
You're not getting 90s right?
THERES NO WAY i am paying 5-8K for a GPU
thats pretty much how much my 1994 car costs
Then it will never be a concern to you
i was told a 40 series card is a better option for me
Well if the 50 series card continues to drop prices, maybe not
The RTX 4070 draws 200W, RTX 4070 Ti and Ti Super both draw 285W, RTX 5070 draws 250W, RTX 5070 Ti draws 300W, and RTX 5080 draws 360W.
Your 850w is enough for the 5080
i got B650M Gaming WiFi from MSI so
im kinda uncertian ab ts
bc this is my first GPU upgrade
i originally in 2019 had a Ryzen 5 3500X (mistake of a CPU) and this 1080 Ti
B650m
B650m PCIe 4.0 slot will not bottleneck the RTX 5080 in any meaningful way for gaming or typical workloads
Well maybe the CPU will
(nvm just remembered you got a 9600x
Ok here's my final thoughts
If you're upgrading for your current, set-up, get a 4080 or 70ti
If you want to "future proof" a little bit, go for the 5080, only if you can find one that's cheap
yes im going to upgrade my 1080 Ti bc its getting weaker and it is dying
and i wont be able to find a 5080 thats cheap
@sharp hinge and yes, people are saying brands don't matter, because they're not looking close enough
Gigabyte is notorious for committing war crimes with their cooling components, if you remember their 30series waterblock drama
dw i do NOT like gigabyte cards
Purposely not listing aluminium as one of the materials used in their waterblock, causing many many people to have their entire Water-cooling system corroded
This is why Asus is more expensive, one of the reasons being people are willing to pay extra for the peace of mind
been looking for ROG Strix cards as my 1080 Ti is a ROG Strix card and ive never had a problem
