#Alt-Tab & Process Error 5.

So for around 2 years now I have been having an issue with games alt-tabbing out and back to desktop. I found that by alt-tabbing back into the game 2-3 times the game would then stay and I could continue.

Well after 2 years I have started to grow tired of this and upon looking into solutions I found one called "focusgrabber". Essentially it is a simple program which monitors and records all actions taken on my computer. Example if a program updates, it will list the program like "Bravebrowser.updater.running".

Well I ran this program and then ran a game until it alt-tabbed back and what I found was... interesting to say the least. Multiple records existed. Around 15 to 20 were very quickly recorded within milliseconds of one another. They all had the same name "open process had error 5".

Does anybody know what this means? I have tried multiple searches but this is more or less where I need help cause idk what that means & none of my searches has yielded any results either. I have opened and cleaned my computer recently and It is clean and looks really good all things considering.

I am having no voltage or heating errors and all things are reporting good for hardware and virus scans.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. And yes I have everything as up-to-date as I can. Its an older computer using Windows 10.

Have you tried reinstalling Windows?

#

Also, black screens while Alt tabbing is normal for games running DX11 and below in Fullscreen such as Valorant

Also would just installing DX12 help? I think I am still running DX9 & 11

#

Nope I have DX 12. Just checked diagnostic.

Ah for games running DX11 and below. Good to know I read well and stuff...

Also the games aren't crahsing or being stuck in black screen. They alt tab out and back to desktop.

you don't need a disc, you just need a USB drive

Also make sure you don't have any overlays
