About a month ago i uninstaled the nvidia app in favor of geforce experience app which provides a bugfree shadowplay which lets you record better imo. Since about then the geforce experience app seems to not recognize my graphics card.

#

When i try to install a new driver the isntallation stops at 100% and i dont know what the cause of that is

#

Additionally since then my internet connection on my laptop has been seeing very big fluctuations especially when watching discord streams. The moment i start watching a stream my ping spikes to 5000ms until i leave it and my internet basically collapses.

#

here you can also see what i mean by the app not recognizing my graphics card. It even shows it at the top but doesnt list it as compatible for basically any nvidia feature including the in game overlay

#

Today i have also encountered another error while playing counter strike 2:

#

After this i tried restarting my laptop and the moment i pressed restart a blue screen appeared saying something along the lines of VIDEO_DRKXL_ERROR although im really not sure or accurate about the error message as i couldnt catch it in time. Is there a way to see a log of BSODs? If so i could identify it and maybe resolve it

#

ALSO: i dont know if this affects the situation but ive been having another BSOD issue where if i download a specific windows update the installation stops at about 8% and i get a blue screen. The error code for that one is something along the lines of KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. To fix this i simply put back the update as much as i can so it never gets to installing.

You can download NVIDIA App here and the latest drivers here. Some features in the NVIDIA App require you to be in a newer driver.

GeForce Experience is no longer receiving feature updates or bug fixes, so if you encounter any issues opening GFE, try replacing it with the NVIDIA App.

If you need to go back to GFE either because of an issue with the App or you prefer the old UI, uninstall the NVIDIA App, then install the last version of GFE which can be downloaded from here.

#

If you have any issues with your graphics card after updating the Nvidia drivers, please perform the following:

  • Remove the existing Nvidia driver by running Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) here: (AutoDDU can be told to use a custom driver link, or you can use the manual version located here.). For a utility to automate DDU as much as possible follow this guide.
  • You can download drivers from the official site below. (You will need to specify your GPU and operating system.) On a laptop, both iGPU and dGPU drivers should be installed for full functionality and performance.

NVIDIA
AMD
Intel

  • Ensure that your WiFi/Ethernet/Internet is turned off or disconnected before installation of the driver (Running the .exe file) to prevent Windows Update from overriding the driver installation.
  • Disconnect all other monitors (except one main monitor) and all unnecessary USB devices before driver installation to prevent device conflicts or black screens.
  • During driver installation, please select the Custom option when prompted and ensure that Peform a clean installation is checked/ticked before proceeding with the installation.
  • Please restart your computer after the driver installation is completed.

  1. im still concerned about the nvidia app and recognizing my graphics card. as i already said everything seems to working but the message"no display connected" still shows up in the app just as it did before. is this just a bug?
#
  1. the r/nvidia tech support bot suggests that if im not satisfied with the nvidia app and i prefer the old GFE i should be able to switch back and use the old overlay. is this still reliable or not since in your first point you brought up shadowplay or the overlay not being supported anymore. sorry if im bothering you!! im just having trouble with some bugs when recording with the new nvidia app overlay and i REALLY need to record

Check NVIDIA App > System > My Rig to see if any displays are connected to your GPU.

If it indicates "No display connected", there may be two applicable situations.

If this is a laptop or all-in-one (AIO) PC (computer integrated into display chassis):
Laptop displays are not connected to their dedicated GPUs, instead using the integrated GPU on the CPU. If your laptop model has a MUX switch, you can use it to bypass the iGPU. If it does not, you'll have to make the adjustments you want in your iGPU's control panel instead ("Intel Graphics Command Center" / "AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition"). Some higher-end gaming laptops may expose Advanced Optimus settings in the NVIDIA App, too.

AIO PCs are usually built similarly to laptops, and the same applies to them.

If using external displays for some laptops, it may be possible to still bypass the display output by having it go through a video port that is wired directly to the dGPU. You can check if this is the case by going to NVIDIA Control Panel > Configure PhysX, where a display topology will be shown. If there are any video outputs wired directly to the dGPU, they will be shown here within the box of your dGPU.

If this is a desktop PC:
Make sure all of your monitors are connected to the ports of your graphics card, not to the motherboard. If you are unsure or don't know what this means, take a picture of the back of your PC and send it into this channel.
