In "graphics" now after checking multiple games, it makes my resolution 3413 x 1920 and it says "recommended" which I don't get. My main monitor is 2560x1440. In the "System" tab under "Scaling" there were also different resolutions than the native ones. On my 1440p monitor in "System" under "Scaling" it had 3413x1920 and the second monitor (which is 1080p) it was 2560x1440. I changed the resolutions from "Scaling" in the "System" tab to their native ones now but the games remain 3413x1920. My "Global Settings" DSR Factors are DL Scaling: 1.78 (2560x1440). I don't know if that helps you, I thought maybe it has something to do with it but I thought I'd mention it. DSR max resolution is not even 3413x1920. It's 2880x1620 and it's 2.25.
#NVIDIA makes games a different resolution (3413x1920) than my native one? In the "System" tab also

Some monitors with a native resolution lower than 4K may support 4K input resolution anyway. This 4K input resolution is for the benefit of consoles that used to not directly support 1440p output, as well as enabling a basic form of super-sample AA (similar to DSR).
The existence of this fake 4K resolution will mess with DSR/DLDSR's assumptions about the monitor's native resolution and the scaling factors will be based on that higher resolution instead of the true resolution, leading to both image quality and performance issues.
Use the Custom Resolution Utility to remove the fake 4K resolutions. You'll need to find it in both the standard timings table and within any data blocks, including those inside the "TV resolutions" extended data block, which isn't shown immediately, and restart the PC, to make the fake resolution invisible to the PC, and restore the correct DSR scaling factors.
@paper kestrel this is a different issue
the monitor is reporting the correct native res
ever used NVIDIA App/GeForce Experience and have auto-optimize turned on? If so, this is normal if you have some games that are old/lightweight enough that automatic enablement of DLDSR is a thing
many games are not as "smart" as Windows and will list the highest detected resolution as "recommended" on the assumption that the highest is native
As you have two different monitors, please also show the resolution list of both monitors outside of a game (try the NVIDIA Control Panel)
DSR max resolution is not even 3413x1920. It's 2880x1620 and it's 2.25.
Scroll down and you'll see the legacy options which will go up to 4x
DL (DLDSR) stops at 2.25x
Ooohhh... I did NOT want auto-optimize at first but then I tried it. Guess I am turning THAT off! So does the DSR factor from Graphics - Global Settings OR Resolution from System - Scaling have anything to do with it?
Or it's just the auto-optimize?
here's the thing about optimisation on the Nvidia app
Please note that the NVIDIA game profile optimization/optimize game settings may be wildly inaccurate and should not be used blindly, with the optimization profile should only be used as the minimal baseline for your graphics settings.
It is common for the optimization settings to not show up, or be not able to be applied directly, in the following situations:
- game is extremely new (wait a few days before checking again)
- laptop hardware, especially involving low end RTX GPUs
- CPU and/or GPU is below the game's minimum specifications
- game is from Xbox Game Pass
You can revert the changes done by the NVIDIA app by pressing the βREVERTβ button on each game in the Graphics Section. If you want to fine tune the graphical settings to reach the desired frame rate and image quality, you will need to look up individual video settings for each game from other sources.
oh...
OOHHH! Now it says 2560x1440p is recommended when I pressed revert! Hell yeah!
I usually use NVCP for image scaling/DLDSR
yes
any kind of optimize in a sufficiently lightweight game for the GPU
because the NVIDIA App is allowed to enable DLDSR on your behalf if it thinks it has enough spare GPU
again, for the most part, this shouldn't affect everything programmed properly
the strange "recommended" resolution you see in some games is just games making dumb assumptions
Gotcha! Thank you so much for the help! Stay amazing! Have a great one!
Actually one more thing! How do I turn off optimization? I can't find it in settings or anywhere else
check the main NVIDIA App (the window) and not inside the overlay
Click settings on the left side of the column
Then, uncheck "Automatically optimize games and apps"
If this is already unchecked, it is already off, however any previously optimized games will stay so. If you want to, you can change any relevant settings and it'll stick now.
I am /blind/ bruh... thanks again! π€¦ββοΈ π π
To close this thread do I just delete the post or?... Maybe someone else finds it and it helps them
NVIDIA makes games a different resolution (3413x1920) than my native one? In the "System" tab also
Hello! It's me again. So I was checking some options on a game and I saw that Ghost Recon Breakpoint still has the 3413 x 1920 resolution as recommended even after pressing the revert button
How could I fix this? I click on 2560 x 1440 but it goes back to the recommended one
Actually... Now that I check the other games as well... all have it back on 3413x1920
I have also uninstalled nvidia app and reinstalled it and it's the same
Make sure "Automatically Optimise Games and Apps" are unchecked
and also press revert in the settings app
I did
DOUBLE CHECK AGAIN
It doesn't work anymore
I just did (edit: I just did again I mean, aka I checked twice now after you told me)
Have you go to each game on the list and press "Revert to default"
Yep
Or "Revert"
Yes
If you are updating the Nvidia app the settings may be reset
It's up to date
I updated it before I came back here cause I saw a new version came out
Lemme try uninstalling the whole driver real quick...
If you have any issues with your graphics card after updating the Nvidia drivers, please perform the following:
- Remove the existing Nvidia driver by running Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) here: (AutoDDU can be told to use a custom driver link, or you can use the manual version located here.). For a utility to automate DDU as much as possible follow this guide.
- You can download drivers from the official site below. (You will need to specify your GPU and operating system.) On a laptop, both iGPU and dGPU drivers should be installed for full functionality and performance.
- Ensure that your WiFi/Ethernet/Internet is turned off or disconnected before installation of the driver (Running the .exe file) to prevent Windows Update from overriding the driver installation.
- Disconnect all other monitors (except one main monitor) and all unnecessary USB devices before driver installation to prevent device conflicts or black screens.
- During driver installation, please select the Custom option when prompted and ensure that Peform a clean installation is checked/ticked before proceeding with the installation.
- Please restart your computer after the driver installation is completed.
