In addition to the following specs, we would like you to answer the following questions:
- Have you reinstalled the Nvidia Drivers by removing them with DDU and reinstalling them by downloading the drivers manually and installing them?
- Have you made any changes to your PC/Laptop in the past few days (such as software/hardware install)?
- Have you encountered any error codes/bluescreens/graphical glitches when encountering the problem? Describe steps to reproduce the problem. Please send a photo/screenshot/video of the problem here as well.
Ryzen 7950X3D, ASOS ROG Crosshair 870E Hero, GSkill Trident Z5 Neo 2x32gb ddr5-6000 with no overclocking in bios, ASUS TUF Gaming OC 4090, Corsair RMx SHIFT 1200 Watt 80 Plus PSU, 2 tb x 2 Samsung 990 Pro, 24H2 Windows, Samsung G95SC, 5120x1440 240hz,
I have tried removing drivers, DDU and reinstalled them, Spider-Man 2 will no longer get into the main menu before it crashes to desktop
Is this video card vertically mounted?
yes
it is liquid cooled
Just in case, can you check with the PCIe link intentionally downgraded to 3.0?
(You can do so from the motherboard BIOS settings)
Advanced > Onboard Devices Configuration > PCIE Link Speed
set the PCIEX16 Link Mode from Auto to Gen 3 and restart your PC. Check if it now stabilises.
is there anything else i should check out in the bios
?
bios version 2.22.1284 with stock settings no overclock if that helps for info
restarting now
flickering seems to stop so far no issue there but i tried starting up spiderman 2 and its still telling me the same error
any program to detect? i ran OCCT earlier today
1 hour run shader complexity 3
and it said no issues detected
Not a valid test
(Most of these tests usually end up testing cooling)
Is it only ONE game or any other game does the same btw?
Spider Man 2 is known to be bugged
kingdom come deliverance 2 has 0 issues
But usually the desktop itself shouldn't be messed up if it's just the game
i’m in KD D2 game no issue
trying cyberpunk 2077 now
does that during the video package on startup
trying warzone now
well warzone works
not sure if it’s just because the game is t that demanding
i reset the settings of spider man 2 and im back in
hey @drowsy dagger by switching that bios setting of the graphics card to gen 3
do i lose performance?
game just crashed in a cutscene with identical error above
OK. Not PCIe related then.
Revert that, and I'd start suspecting the GPU outright if a direct connection (no riser) still fails
seems like the issue is resolved, game no longer crashes upon a restart
no flickering from what i can see
just might need to test it a bit more to be 100%
question
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 uses PCIe Gen 4, not Gen 3, meaning it is a PCIe 4.0 card; even though newer systems are moving towards PCIe Gen 5, the 4090 still utilizes the PCIe 4.0 interface
shouldn’t i have put it to gen4?
Your riser may not be compatible with PCIe 4
that’s what i have
