#how do i enable my most recent driver?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
everything is suddenly lagging
everything was just fine two hours ago before the monitors and all of that started making random noises and blacking out
it says i installed the latest driver three times today, and it still wont work
no images or videos to describe the issue
bruh
when I go check for updates on my graphics driver in the device manager, it says it’s up to date, which it does have the latest drivers installed
but autocad has a broken crosshair, which is a sign that something is wrong with the video graphics driver
on top of that, every game I open, it’s unnecessarily laggy
and my laptop was doing completely fine earlier until 5:30 EST
where both screens went black and beep sounds started to happen
next thing you know, my laptop won’t connect to my second monitor and everything is lagging
I am unsure if a lightning strike around 100 feet from my house caused the problem, but I doubt it because my laptop didn’t show and physical damage like melting parts, smoke, or fire
like dude, what the hell am I supposed to take a screenshot of?
I cannot record for some reason
as it cannot really be showed by one single image for the lag
but I could show some things
it says it works properly
it says its fine when something is clearly wrong with the GPU
This is the worst possible place to do your GPU work on
First, since you described things as plainly broken, first let's rule out any corruption issues first
For a utility to automate DDU as much as possible follow this guide.
Report back once it's done. If there's still problems, then we'll have more stuff to check.
alright
that said, when you opened Device Manager last time, were any component groups pre-expanded?
let me double check on that rq
the display adapters tab is pre-opened when device manage is open
This shouldn't happen
If it happens, something is broken
Before you DDU, open Device Manager again. Is that section auto-expanded? If yes, which device had an icon?
No.
what am i lookingfor?
Anything with an additional icon
first, open Device Manager. On a normal system, nothing will be auto-expanded
what is a "yellow bang"?
If there are auto-expanded categories, make note of what devices have additional icons.
there isnt any caution sign on either, but the radeon graphics for my CPU are disabled
as for the nvidia GPU, no symbols are present
NEVER DO THIS
?
All you're doing is to disable hardware acceleration
On most laptops, graphics generated by the GeForce still needs to pass through the AMD GPU
Now, imagine if that AMD GPU can't use acceleration
i did remember that it disabled on its own with some AMD error message
everything will be slow and broken
months ago
If this happened, try re-enabling it now
If it breaks again with an error message, show it to us
so far no error
do i test it on applications?
so it looks like the issue of a lagging crosshair is gone on autocad
im not sure if the inputs for a monitor are fixed
Test as many as you can
because when this had issues earlier, it was apparent that the monitor wasnt connecting
All of your issues were related with the iGPU being disabled
Your laptop should now have full functionality now
Try doing everything you couldn't before
alright, should I let you guys know of any problems?
Yes
Especially if it disables itself again due to an error. If that happens show the message.
Also, this goes without saying, but don't forget about driver updates for your iGPU too
5600H
looks all good
I appreciate the help
It also says that the driver i'm about to install is a downgrade
You should check what version you're currently on just in case
(Right click the Windows desktop and open the Software)
wdym?
Just DDU all the drivers and reinstall them, starting with the AMD Radeon driver and the Nvidia driver, with internet connection turned off
