Your hard drives will only be used if files stored on them are accessed. If you run, say, a game from your C: drive, your D: drive won't be used

Your primary hard drive (C:) is a HDD, which will lead to slow boot times and generally sluggish system behavior. Ideally reinstall Windows onto your D: drive (assuming the data currently on it can be deleted)

Your screenshots indicate you didn't

#

You need to either re-install Windows using an externally created installation USB (with the Media Creation Tool, as a bootable setup disk), or clone the contents of C: into D: with disk cloning software

#

Which is your preferred method?

#

The latter should keep everything exactly the same way it originally was, but has a small chance of failure on unusual configurations

Don't clone from HDD to SSD, it'll mess up some settings and shorten the SSD lifespan

#

When reinstalling, make sure to unplug the HDD first, otherwise it won't create a boot partition on the SSD

?

#

The second point is definitely a good one especially if the order was like that

#

The first point though, there is the question of "would it matter?"

Make sure after installing the ISO to your usb via the Media Creation Tool that you also select your ssd on the installing menu if this is the way that you're taking.

it's also always nicer to have a clean fresh install

Is there a Windows install on your SSD?

Open up Disk Management and take a screenshot

Don't do this since you'll need to install games again later. Screenshot Disk Management.

(Not sure? Right click the Start button and click Disk Management)

Don't take it out install windows to a usb and then press F8 repetitively on boot en then just boot from the usb and put a clean install on your ssd

#

right click the windows logo
on your taskbar, and select device manager

#

disconnecting the non-boot drives during Windows setup should 100% prevent this from ever happening
