nvidia 4070 off of 8 pins

Hey can I run an nvidia 4070 that uses the 12VHPWR adapter off just one set of 6+2? My psu is proprietary and has just 1 6+2 and a 6 off a splitter. I tried it but fails to post (video). With just pcie power and 8 pins it should meet the power requirement, I know some skus from other manufacturers just use an 8 pin.
