Hey everyone, I got a 4090 build to replace my aging 1080 PC. Sorted out all of my old settings but wanted to turn Nvidia Image Scaling on.

It shows in my control panel 'Image Sharpening' which when I turn on, doesn't do anything (I used to have image sharpening before it was replaced by scaling, so it was weird seeing it back here on a new PC, and frustrating having it do nothing, just like how it used to be extremely spotty with Nvidia updates before). Opened up GeForce Experience and where it showed Image Scaling on my old desktop its been completely removed. Installed the new app and it also shows Image Sharpening in place of Image Scaling.

I know its a bit weird, but I do enjoy having scaling on. I've tried everything from DDUing drivers to regedit to reinstalling GeForce Experience, but nothing seems to actually work. I can't find any info on this specific issue on the internet. I wouldn't mind using sharpening in place of scaling if it worked but it doesn't. Thanks for any help.

Oh and yes I have read some of the other posts on this, but they seem to relate to not having image sharpening/scaling at all. My monitor is 2560 x 1440 for reference.

@kindred acorn that would make sense, I saw that somewhere as well, but I got my PC just today and was running image scaling fine on my older PC

using the same cable

also the sharpening setting is still there for some reason in place of image scaling

just really weird though, the displayport cable I'm using came with a monitor I bought like 1 month ago

Yeah tbh we don’t like GeForce experience and don’t provide support for it as it is so buggy

I’d suggest installing it, then reinstalling it

ah yeah the screenshot is the beta app so it should be newest one available

yeah I'm going to run through DDU/geforce experience reinstall and see if it fixes anything, but I doubt it will as I did so earlier already

Is this in game or on desktop?

desktop, though I tried with warhammer space marines 2 and the sharpening on setting has no effect

Sorry not sure. Google suggests sharpening is the old tech. Which was removed. So you may have installed an old GFE version

No worries, I'm not using GFE though, this is the latest beta app with GPU tuning so that shouldn't be it either

its noticeable when im not fullscreen on my old desktop as you said, it has no effect

Cool. I’m not really too keen to dig into this any further, as chances are it’s a bug in some beta software, I would ask in that forum I linked earlier for more info
