How new is this laptop?
If a laptop cannot do a feature it's supposed to have and it's so new, just return it to the store as it's a doa
Any laptop that advertises a given screen refresh rate is expected to just work
3yrs old
it was good
recently the display screen started flickering
today i changed to 60 and it is fine
Using custom resolution utility, see if it flickers at 120
If no, try a custom refresh and slowly increase it until 143 or when it flickers, whichever happens first
Did you do anything that might be relevant to the display flickering?
Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) is an EDID editor that focuses on custom resolutions. CRU shows you how the monitor defines resolutions and other capabilities and gives you the power to change it. Add
i contacted rog authorised service center yesterday with my lap they said to change the display which costs around 100usd. I on my own did some try to fix and figured out 60hz is fine
Honestly I'd take that offer. Your display is not working correctly, and a normal external 144hz monitor costs more than that
It's fair for an out of warranty repair.
im wondering if display is gone how is 60hz working fine?
I am from India cant really trust the service center their ultimate goal is to make money
Because 60Hz is not the limit the display actually is (144hz)
Or think of it this way.
so i cant use it on 60hz?
You can, but you are missing out on 144Hz
To us, this is a defect
Since it no longer works at the speed it should be at
If repair/replacement is still an option, I'd still consider it.
"Workarounds" not fixes if you do not get replacement hardware for it yes
im just wondering if i can use for a yr or 2 and buy a new one
Since you are just avoiding the broken mode
Yes if you don't care about 144hz
ok thanks
What's the specs of the rest of the laptop?
In this case, I'd just leave the laptop as is and not replace the panel, and stick to 60Hz for the rest of the laptop's useful life. The hardware isn't really fast enough to run most games that would actually need 16GB of RAM
But still, 16GB may help if you find yourself consistently at 90%+ RAM usage
hmm
i dont think i wud play games much, as of now I am entering my clg life and i will use my lap for educational purpose
on that basis 60hz is fair enough?
Alright.
And yes.
