jovial prawn
#

Its an asrock z68 pro3 gen3

#

Very old, but i really need a better gpu to play some popular games

jovial prawn
#

and thats the best compatibility

I recommend saving up extra money and getting a 5700xt and then slowly upgrading ur pc

#

But depends on your power supply

#

Dont get a gt 1030

jovial prawn
#

Its like a 2010s motherboard

for a 5700 xt

#

use pc part picker and put ur parts in it with the 5700xt and see how much power it draws

If you are not sure, check #build-list build 3 for example PSUs to get

rare minnow
# valid ether Nah

My fault the psu looked pretty good but woulda been nice if i knew the rating too

Simply ignore the parts that aren't being replaced

valid ether
#

The power label is also a big red flag

#

Nearly the same amount of watts on 3.3V+5V vs 12V, indicating this PSU is of a very old design

#

550W being peak power, which is also a tendency for very old PSUs. (Most modern PSUs of good quality rate continuous/24h/7 sustainable power)

rare minnow
#

better to buy a 5700xt that can game really well at 1080p and have to buy a power supply for like 50 bucks

#

then a gt 1030

#

id know because thats what i just went thru like 2 weeks ago

#

100% worth it to spend extra on a new psu and get a good gpu

valid ether
#

the existing PSU tbh I wouldn't even use it for the computer right now

rare minnow
#

na for weak parts like that its fine as he runs it fine i assume

rare minnow
#

a 750 watt bronze psu for like 80 bucks

#

but i bought it in my home country so costs like shipping and the other stuff didnt add up

#

also pretty sure its like a huge overkill for my parts but better safe then sorry

valid ether
#

Then probably just not upgrade anything for now

jovial prawn
valid ether
#

You really need a nicer power supply to get anything faster than a 3050 6GB

jovial prawn
valid ether
#

...which makes me wonder

jovial prawn
#

Bro it doesnt support any gpus over gtx 10 series

valid ether
#

Is the 1030 chosen for price reasons?

jovial prawn
#

Yes

valid ether
#

Note that the 1650 and 3050 comes in "no external power" versions

jovial prawn
#

I would have bought a 1050 ti but i cant find them on amazon

#

Note that the most current slot powered card NVIDIA offers is 3050; the previous gen being a 1650

#

If you are not sure, describe your CPU

jovial prawn
#

2.0

#

I5 2500k

valid ether
#

Anyway, I'd probably really avoid getting a 1030 nowadays

jovial prawn
#

Too expensive , i forgot to mention its a bday gift which im also getting a moped

#

But yesterday i just mounted it

#

And now to these microsoft issues i cant install drivers due to wifi issues

valid ether
#

Are you not of working age yet?

jovial prawn
#

No?

#

im 17

valid ether
#

I see. Then a lot of things are different

valid ether
jovial prawn
#

no

#

i mean

#

gpu drivers

#

i cant install them my wifi company is down

#

if ur wondering im using mobile data rn

valid ether
# jovial prawn gpu drivers

There won't be anything to install on the AMD GPU anyway tbh because it has been EOL'd for a very long time

#

Probably just check again once you get the 1030

jovial prawn
#

my pc hasnt been affected with the bsos btw

#

Bsod*

#

plus i just need it to run games like valorant roblox and these popular games

#

What is an eol btw?

valid ether
rare minnow
#

if you wanna game on roblox at max graphics without lagging a gt 1030 wont do it

rare minnow
#

pretty sure theres a ton of better alternatives

jovial prawn
#

Listen, i also bought it for the price of 90€ so it isnt a big deal and i needed a new gpu quickly , the old gpu does 30 fps at low graphics

rare minnow
#

oh you already bought it

#

coulda bought a gtx 1050 ti but you said there was none but you could have also bought a 1060 1070 etc
