#System crash on drivers update

[It's been more than a year!].. and they are still refusing to fix this annoying issue, also silently removing people discussions about this topic.

Everytime I try to update my GameReady drivers via GeForce Experience the screen goes black (previously, some weird patterns had also appeared) and there's no way to see nor possibly interact with anything during that, until a hard restart.

Everything was fine until, presumably, 1 lazy update made that keep happening, and it is still not fixed!

Truly the best service ever, Nvidia!

Please correct any discrepancies; either way, if you used a direct download link to install the drivers, does it work?

I had also tried using that one graphics refresh key combination when that occurs but to no avail

so like it does update the drivers after all, the whole problem is it's causing that weird bug

When updating the driver, are you in dGPU mode?

I had once somewhere read that it happens due to me having "Max performance" GPU mode in Armoury Crate which basically forces everything to use the GPU and not the integrated graphics from what I heard?

Go back to balanced/normal mode, restart your PC, and then test the driver updating part

This sounds less like an NVIDIA bug and more like an Asus bug

Actually you probably can check this for me now

#

  • Set the GPU mode to normal/balanced.

  • Restart the computer.

  • Download the NVIDIA drivers. Any is fine.

  • Disconnect from the Internet.

  • Run the Display Driver Uninstaller first, preferably in Safe Mode, to remove NVIDIA drivers. Make sure GPU > NVIDIA is selected. Clean and restart.

  • Install the NVIDIA drivers.

Observe if it has any black screen issues.
