#Computer running REALLY slow
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
do you got good wifi ?
Provide the full specifications list of your system, namely, your CPU, RAM, and primary storage drive
among others
Ok since its coming back
I have a 14400f with a 4060
16 gb of ddr5 4800 mhz
and 512 gb of ssd
For this part, elaborate.
- the computer is slow when you double-click or click the icon for your Web browser before the window opens
- the computer is slow to load YouTube after you open the browser
Sometimes both
my computer was really slow typing this message
Rn i just opened youtube and its rlly slow
Also when i alt tab
Is this with nothing open?
Your CPU and RAM usage are unusually high for a newly started system
I just opened valorant
thats why u can see the spike
So this is it
Idk if the slot 2 is supposed to be empty
Bc I bought a prebuilt so idk
Wait is my mobo supposed to be green
Cuz thats all i can see
@open field
Retake these screenshots with NO GAMES
Normal for prebuilds and very cheap boards focused on non-home use
Yes, and this affects performance as you're basically missing half the RAM speed due to single channel
You can rectify a lot of low FPS issues in newer or CPU-limited games by immediately adding a second stick of same capacity and same or higher speed
Probably will make things generally snappier too
While we are at it
Please run this. The demo is enough. Run the suggested benchmark. Post the results here
Ill run that when im available rn im not
So I cant fullty utilize my 1 ram stick?
more like, can't fully utilize your CPU. The RAM stick is being fully utilized, but the memory controller inside your CPU could handle one more that would have doubled the bandwidth
Oh ok
So once I run 3dmark could u find the issue?
It can determine if your entire PC is working correctly or not
Ok, once Ill run it ill @ u with the results thx
OK. So looks like hardware wise there isn't anything wrong but you can benefit from a second stick of 16GB
Since right now you're on single channel mode
However, even then, without adding the RAM, normal desktop tasks shouldn't be that slow
Do you know the model?
No
Do u know what it could be
Cause rn I dont rlly wanna get a second stick of ram since idk if it tampers with the warranty
Still observing slowness?
Stuttering yes, but not in valorant anymore
Just in fort
Make suree to install extra assets to prevent extra on-demand loads
A lot of stuttering in Fortnite isn't hardware related, but rather it trying to load things
Liek what
When installing Fortnite you may have been asked if you want to install some extra components. Check if you may need to install them again.
Like dx12?
High quality shaders?
If you have the storage to spare, I'd probably install everything, dropping nothing, onto an SSD. Then, load up the game in DX11 or DX12 (turn off raytracing if latter), set DLSS to Quality, and see what happens. Remember: some traversal stutter is inevitable
What we're trying to look for is if it lag spikes or stalls on everything, or just when moving large distances
Ok got it, Ill get back to u soon. Im busy today so Ill do it tmrw
