So I have a Lenovo laptop (IdeaPad L340-15IRH Gaming) that's been around since late 2020-ish, and now my laptop doesnt detect my GPU (I think) I have no idea what happened really, it says: " This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API."

Im not really a tech expert to know what it is, I'm only 15 years old and I really don't have the money to get this to the repair shop.

I appreciate and will try all the solutions anyone can give me.

This is a strange error that may have implications on the state of your computer.

Please show the contents of Task Manager > Performance > CPU and Task Manager > Performance > Memory.

What anti-virus software do you use? Bring up its exceptions list and post the contents of them. (Black out any personal information if paths are visible.)

Something's hogging the CPU.

Check the performance tab and sort it by CPU so that the highest CPU is at the top.

#

Also, you are in need for a RAM upgrade. Due to some very poor design decisions Lenovo took, a 4GB of RAM is soldered; you'll only be able to replace the other 4GB stick. Replace this stick with a 16GB of any non-XMP laptop DDR4 RAM (SODIMM). This should bring you from a cramped 8GB to a much more reasonable 20GB.

Here, something is managing to soak 21%

#

But either way, how did you reinstall the drivers?

Does the GPU now work?

#

nope

#

wait let me like get you on some more context, when I was trying to fix it by myself, the first time I saw it the error code was something like this

#

So what I did was go to the microsoft community website and it said there delete it and restart the laptop

#

so I did, and it didnt come back

#

I got the gtx 1650 to reappear in my device manager through adding a legacy hardware > the advanced option > display adapters > then I clicked on the "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter ( No ACPI support)" I dont know what acpi means, and then I right clicked on it > update drivers > browse my computer for drivers > let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer > NVIDIA > GTX 1650

#

but the device has an error

#

the code 31 api error

#

I managed to install the latest nvidia driver but it didnt really work

#

there were no flashing lights that appeared on my screen

#

like how it would be normally when I update it

Wait a second. So what you meant is that the card straight up not exist without forcing it to exist via "Add legacy hardware"?

#

Instead of any error bangs

tropic perch
#

Card might have legit died (it should have been detected upon restart)

#

New computer time
