So I have those black patches that briefly appear or flash on random NPC’s (pedestrian) in cyberpunk 2077. I wanted to make sure this was not my gpu so i tried it on GeForce now ultimate , and the glitch also happens there but less frequently. It happens a lot more frequently on my own computer : i9 13900KF / GeForce 4090 / vengeance DDR5 ram. What would cause my computer to amplify this glitch ? Game version is up to date , driver version up to date, nothing weard happening in any other game (even Alan wake 2 wich seems to be more demanding). Thank you for reading !

Intentional game effect

This is normal for ad screens in the world of Cyberpunk 2077

Ah, then there is a bigger problem

#

Do other settings reduce or eliminate the problem?

#

Also, as you have an affected Intel CPU, update your motherboard BIOS and load a safe default that limits the CPU power. Recheck the game.

Oh and using the mod called NVFlods ultra completely remove the issue even if I still play with path tracing and dlss ! (This mod seems to change the game LOD and a big maybe ? Loads higher texture npc ..not sure about that last part )

Probably LOD issues than actual errors

If no other games have the same issue it's probably just game jank

#

Also, with regard to reducing the CPU speed; if you are using Intel safe defaults, you shouldn't lose performance outside of full MT workloads

Other games are fine , Alan wake 2 max settings / hellblade 2 max settings / starfield max settings…. No issue

Hard dropping P-core clocks instead of limiting the power and amps(current) will cut your light load perfs

Anyway, before using XTU, use hwinfo64 to check the power limits set. Are they set to a sane number? (Any number below or at 253W)

A bit high, but for the most part, is fine. If you are still worried, go to the BIOS and manually set Long Term Power Limit and Short Term Power Limit both to 181W

Alright I’ll think about that, if it’s within safe range maybe I’ll keep it that way ..I don’t know yet

#

So you think the issue in cyberpunk is not GPU related ? That it’s a bug within the game and that reducing my P-cores could solve it a little ?

crude meadow
#

Nah, reducing your CPU likely won't help, if NVIDIA's own servers do the same thing - likely a game bug than anything else

Welp

#

Do the glitches happen less often with a FPS cap of 60?

weak pelican
#

Ah i never tried that

#

Since I use frame generation with G-sync It never crossed my mind to cap fps

And force hard disk mode out of Auto to off

weak pelican
#

Alright I will try this , thank you so much for helping me 😇

weak pelican
#

But frame generation was enabled on GeForce now servers though

crude meadow
#

See if turning on frame gen and a cap of 120 has similar or no changes

#

When it comes to glitches

I already have a fix , that’s the mod NVFlods ultra

#

But what I’d like to know is if this visual glitch is the sign of a faulty gpu , that’s what scares me

crude meadow
#

See if the same glitches appear in games with the same engine (The Witcher 3, preferably in DX12 mode)

#

Honestly though I wouldn't worry if it's literally just one game, and that game glitching on known good hardware

@crude meadow no issue at all with the Witcher 3 😀

#

The glitch is not happening on tw3 in dx12 and everything maxed out

#

So probably a bug within cyberpunk that is amplified on my own computer compared to nvidia servers because of different hardware ?

crude meadow
#

yeah

#

since this is very likely a game bug, there's probably nothing you can really do
