amd ryzen 7 3700x and 4070 super not getting steady 144 fps in game
I have 16 gb of ram.
16GB of RAM, in what configuration?
(1x16 or 2x8?)
Also, what speed?
Is the speed on the packaging the same as the speed in Task Manager or the speed in Task Manager is half of the packaged speed? (Both are as intended outcomes; if the speed is neither, you have issues)
2x8, 3000mhz, the speed is the same in task manager as the speed on the package.
I had a 5700xt before and was getting stable 144fps in games.
Try DDU
so try uninstalling the graphics drivers and reinstalling them?
No, DDU is far more thorough than that
But essentially, yea
ok, ill give it a try
so i cant run the autoddu_cli as there is an update for windows that wont install for me: 2024-01 Security Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5034441)
It's the infamous one where the Windows 10 recovery tools partition is too small to actually let it install. Hold on
i did that and it did not work for me
what game r u playing?
Did you miss any steps? (Remember to check for Windows Updates again. Don't immediately run DDU)
league of legends
I dont believe I did
so i finally was able to do it and it still didnt bring up shti
is my ram not enough/
or is my cpu not enough?
Did you change any driver settings since running DDU
(Show the contents of Manage 3D Settings)
Download this and run it in sensors-only mode. Post the contents of the entire thing here. You will need to scroll and take multiple screenshots
Do this while you are not doing anything and with other apps and games closed so I can get a baseline.
Scroll down. You missed the GPU.
Scroll up a bit more so more temperatures on the GPU show
is this what you want?
There doesn't seem to be any problems on the desktop. Now start playing a game, and when you reach that FPS, show the contents of all the HWINFO64 stuff again.
video card seems to be basically falling asleep
hmm
nvidia control panel > manage 3d settings > power management options > prefer maximum performance > apply > restart entire pc > check the same game again
that seemed to work! do you think the vidoe card falling asleep is from my power supply not being able to handle it?
No, just game not loading it for some reason
Remember that this will increase power usage
it could be the game, league has always been buggy
nvm it seems to keep happening and sometiems my screens go black
so im starting to think its my power supply
i also have a wifi booster, do you think it could be causign problems?
if any of you have time would love to get into a call and share screen to help diagnose
where is it being plugged in
Can you try removing it?
i think it could also be my cpu bottleneckign
since league is more of a cpu instensive game
hmm when the screens go black, it says a warning message like the drivers had to be restarted
I kind of need it as im on wifi
Since you've already performed DDU previously... do you have other video cards?
Did you mean: Wi-Fi adapter?
no booster
How can yall not see that he is getting cpu bottlenecked 4070 super is newest gpu and he is using a little older cpu how can you guys not see that? and go on bottleneck calculator and you will see that he has 10-50% bottleneck depending on what he does
League of Legends
This game is so old it'd probably run well on an obsolete CPU. Something else is going on.
Besides, he's also getting TDRs.
yeah but i mean if he plays highest settings on league of legends on this cpu+ its an cpu intensive game he should be getting around 144 i think thats okay and if he lowers it he will get more and he should try to set power management mode in nvidia control panel to "prefer maximum preformance" and on windows power plan "high preformance"
im playing on like medium settings
I do believe that bottleneckign iss a big problem for me.
do you all have a recommendation to upgrade for my cpu?
KEEP IN MIND THAT MAYBE BUYING A NEW CPU WONT FIX YOUR ISSUE BECAUSE IT MIGHT BE AN WINDOWS/SOFTWARE ISSUE i mean the google says that ryzen 7 7800x3d is the best cpu for the rtx 4070 super you sadly bought an overkill gpu that can be the good thing and a bad thing a bad thing because you will need a new motherboard to buy the recommended cpu and good thing you wont have to spend 1000$ on a new gpu for next 10+ years if nothing goes wrong with that one the best you can buy is an ryzen 7 5800x or an ryzen 9 5950x https://www.asus.com/motherboards-components/motherboards/tuf-gaming/tuf-gaming-x570-plus-wi-fi/helpdesk_cpu?model2Name=TUF-GAMING-X570-PLUS-WI-FI check this website i belive this is your motherboard so check everything and find a cpu that suits you but you also need to keep in mind your psu so your pc does not go boom boom and i would say if you can somehow try and fix this you can overclock your cpu right now but im not an expert in that so i cant help you and i dont want to ruin your cpu/whole pc by saying do that and that and you can try downloading atlas os or any custom os or do any tweaks to try to get processes on your cpu down i have an i5 10400f and an rtx 3060 i myself have an bottleneck but i cant buy a new cpu because of my motherboard and i cant overclock my cpu so im using atlas os win 11 version and it helped kinda but that depends on your preformance i think it wont help you as much because you have a strong pc but thats just one of the options and KEEP IN MIND THAT MAYBE BUYING A NEW CPU WONT FIX YOUR ISSUE BECAUSE IT MIGHT BE AN WINDOWS/SOFTWARE ISSUE i think that ryzen 7 3700x should be running lol at more then 144 on medium but thats just what i think i used to play on my i3 4th gen and i got 200 fps+ but that was few years ago but try to fix that issue somehow if you want to get better fps in other games buy a new cpu check on bottleneck calculator which cpu has lowest bottleneck

thank you!!
bottlenecking won't be relevant for this particular game
you shouldn't need that booster
if you aren't getting any signal with just the computer's own wi-fi: what kind of wi-fi is it using?
im just far away from the router
how far are we talking about
single story hourse im like 3 rooms away
house*
when I didnt have the booster I was averaging like 80-90 ping with it im at like 40

thats the power supply i have
Ocbase is the home of OCCT, the most popular all-in-one stability / stress testing / benchmarking / monitoring tool available for PC
Please run the following stability tests: power supply, CPU, 3D Adaptive
for 1 hour each
do i run it without anything running?
do not run anything else, and close all games
Do better use on CPU-Z, unless you are willing to pay for the full view.
Make sure your eco mode is off if not then turn it off.
Was this before or after you got the 4070?
come to think about it: when running DDU, did you also do the same for AMD graphics drivers? By default, it only does 1 brand at a time
I finished running the test and got 0 errrors detected, how do i check if eco mode is off/on? I was getting stable 144 fps with my 5700xt. and I am not sure about the ddu.
basically, if you previously used AMD GPUs, don't forget to also remove them with DDU, even if you are using NVIDIA right now. This is very specific to the interaction between AMD and NVIDIA dGPUs. (Intel anything is fine, as is any integrated.)
This is the error I receive when both screens go black
I believe it'll be in your bios screen

This one's located on the PSU itself
