been trying to upgrade my dell inspiron 3670 to a light gaming/streaming pc. got a 1650 straight from msi and a extra 8 gig stick of crucial ram (sticks are different brands but running at the same speed). im running the gpu off the mobo power for now as a the power supply included with the computer only has 8 pin dell mobo connector and 4 pin cpu connector. Windows was originally running windows 32 bit but i upgraded to windows 64 bit as the Nvidia driver installer would not run on 32 bit. my issue is that neither nvidia driver installer or device manager detect the card when its slotted in. i also notice that programs such as nvidia driver installer and discord are still running in 32 bit when i check my processes in task manager (dont know if this matters at all).

p.s. im writing this while in school so responses may not be instant

Wait so if I’m reading this right the gpu isn’t plugged in via power supply? Only motherboard?

Current psu is dell h290am-00, however I plan to upgrade to seasonic s12iii 500 after I get 24 pin to dell 8 mobo power adapter

yeah, video cards don't work without external power if it has plugs for it

as a note: the RTX 3050 6GB exists. why a new 1650?
