hi guys as u saw in the title i just plugged the new gpu in and i got no signal on my monitor. everything worked fine when i switched back to the old gpu but after i plugged the new gpu in it showed again the „no signal“ text on my monitor

i tried to switch the pci slot but didnt work either

heres my spec:
amd ryzen 7 3700x am4
b550 aorus elite am4
32gb g.skill ram
600w be quiet psu

Minimum PSU is 700W

ripe nova
#

yes but is it because of that?

hexed pivot
#

Most likely, it's the PSU not being sufficient. Try using a more powerful power supply to rule that out. If not, check the BIOS settings

But, I'll tell you, it sounds more like a power issue

Did you miss anything? (Take a photo of your computer from the side where you open the side panel

#

If the video card isn't getting (enough) power connections chances are they'll disable themselves.

#

Otherwise, check if other ports on the GPU side work

Put the video output on the working card

#

Then figure out what is happening from there

ripe nova
primal sorrel
#

Of course, if your motherboard has only one x16 length slot, disregard

#

Aw shucks

ripe nova
#

only 2x 8pin

primal sorrel
#

Maybe return it to the store and see what happens

#

Pic of the power supply?

ripe nova
#

of the new or current one?

#

idk but does it need minimum 700watt from psu? bc i read that some other guy uses his 4090 with 600watt

#

nvidia showed on the offical page that the max gpu performance will be 285w

#

for the 4070 ti super

#

so idk if the new psu will help here

primal sorrel
#

This power supply seems to be a bit old. How old is it?

ripe nova
#

2019 i guess

primal sorrel
#

Split rail and not 100% on the 12V

#

12V1: 336W
12V2: 264W (<285W)
12V total: 576W

#

Assuming 5 years of degradation...

#

If you still have access to its manual, or check the one pages on how the 12V rails are allocated...

#

What rail (12V1 or 12V2) is the video card power on?

#

264 is less than 285

Your power supply manual or support page

(This is for reference, really; even a weak power supply will let you turn on the video card)

#

Right now the card doesn't even work, so either it's getting nothing or not enough power connections, or it's dead

hexed pivot
#

Why, if your other GPU is working, I would like to know what GPU you had before to see what the power difference is. Can you tell me what your old GPU was?

primal sorrel
#

If your previous video card used one 1x8pin, can you try it with the other 8pin?

ripe nova
primal sorrel
#

So no new info

hexed pivot
#

Okay,

primal sorrel
#

OK. Remove the new video card.

Put the 1660S back in.

First, use the first 1x8pin (before pigtail)

hexed pivot
#

Send a photo if you can of how the card is connected. I want to see something

primal sorrel
#

Does it start as normal?

If yes, then shut down the PC, and then use the second 8pin. Does it still start?

ripe nova
primal sorrel
#

If it still starts, now that you have ruled out problems with the cable or the PSU, put the new video card back in, then take a photo of it without inserting any cables. Don't start the PC.

ripe nova

primal sorrel
#

OK, shut it down, and put the new video card. Connect the power cables, and then take a photo

ripe nova
#

ill use the new gpu now

primal sorrel
#

If it doesn't start, and Windows doesn't even load (No sound), take a photo of the video card's connections

ripe nova
#

now the new gpu is plugged in

#

i booted and i heard the windows sound

#

so windows is functioning correctly but no signal on both monitor

#

this pci slot is the same where my old gpu was

#

and i tried the other pci slot also

hexed pivot
# ripe nova

Don't do that, you have to use one cable per connector, as it can overheat

#

It has to be an independent PCI-E cable, not from the same cable

ripe nova
#

i just have that one 🫤

#

its an old psu

hexed pivot
#

You should buy another account; it's a matter of your card's security

ripe nova
#

i bought me a new psu

#

msi 850w

#

atx 3.0

#

will get it today

hexed pivot
ripe nova
#

what if it isnt the psu?

#

still no display with new psu

#

?

ripe nova

sure thanks for helping me out

Alright

#

If it still doesn't work, tbh you can stop troubleshooting and return the video card for further troubleshooting. But keep the new PSU. You will need it.

ripe nova
#

hi i installed my new msi psu a850gl in and still got no signal on my monitor

#

@hexed pivot

#

and also plugged my old gpu in to check if windows tracks my pcix16 slot and nope

It's really weird that you're not getting any video. If it's still under warranty, return it or get it exchanged for a new one.
