Do the games always lag or is it only when you are getting over 60 fps?

If it's only when you are getting over 60 fps, you might be mistaking lag for screen tearing. Screen tearing occurs when you are trying to run a game at a higher fps than your monitor supports.

Had this happen to me on my old PC when playing Pubg . I got 80 fps but my cpu usage was always at 100% and it was lagging pretty hard. You can look up your cpu usage in game with windows task-manager.

Do you mostly play multiplayer games? Usually lag is cause by slow internet or, if you are using a wireless internet adapter, wireless connection instability.

Define lag

  • Visually, the game exhibits hitching or "framey" appearance (stutters, microstutters, and animation mistiming)
  • Slow/delayed response to camera movement or key inputs (input lag)
  • Slow/delayed hit registration from input to confirmation (network lag - please be aware that many shooters as of late implement bullet velocity and there is an expected delay between shots and hitting)
