#stuttering and fps drops on a decent pc

Okay, dir E:
now?
yes
what did it say
Dumb question. Do you have a keyboard you can use with backslash?
didnt let me
Okay, try this:
osk.exe is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file
dir E: (press tab)
Keep pressing it until it says Windows
Actually
Backspace until there’s just the E:\
You’re gonna type backspace with auto completion basically
wtf?
Backspace / delete
now what
bootrec /FixBoot
dir
dir?
Okay, turn off your computer, unplug the flash drive, and restart
Yes
No
Normally?
yes
Phew
Yes, you’re good
wtf
ill do a fresh clean start in a week or so
i wanna look carefuly at which files will i save
so you wanna see anything in cmd list disk or anything?
or reboot the pc
Basically your windows was partially installed between both disks, and off pure luck alone it managed to configure itself just will enough to work initially.
No you’re good
When we cleared the duplicate partition for stuff what happened is that since the ssd wanted a bunch of files on the hdd to boot, it didn’t work
So with the flash drive we properly rebuilt everything on the ssd
and now my pc should work better than before
at least i can log in lmao thats fine for me
Basically, if you ever reset or wiped that hard drive or it had issues your computer would have just stopped booting
We fixed that
alr
will you keep this open for some hours in case something happens?
or it should be good
as hours ago it did not let me log in when i rebooted lol
I mean this as nicely as possible. Your windows setup between 2 disks was probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen
ik
Feel free to try restarting
I fell asleep and forgot to restart
I could restart fine and it booted faster than before so nice
I will mostly make a restart in like a week or so as I need to look at which files to save
Thank both of you for helping me, I was completely frozen when that guy left me here with the problem as I did not know what to do
yeah fuck that guy
Yup
also random question
is windows 11 better than win 10 for gaming?
i did not have the time to do the ddu thing yet so sorry about that
Honestly not really, but games are starting to be made for win 11, so I would suggest upgrading
There’s no real reason not to
also what does step 9 mean by go to driver installation if applicable?
AutoDDU will download & start the driver installer for you, you just have to tell the installer to... install
if I need anything I’ll msg here tho
It says save all your documents
Does it mean ddu is safe ?
or there is a chance I lose my data
Save your open documents (since DDU is going to restart your system multiple times)
Express ("Fast")
Also
I don’t want the integrated graphic software
Is it possible to uninstall it ?
Well, you can just click "Cancel" there
You recommend me to put cancel?
As I already got a gpu
I assume these amd drivers aren’t necessary
Although, Windows will auto-install them anyways, so it's probably easier if you just install them & simply don't use them
That won't work; some BIOSes let you disable onboard graphics completely
Windows will auto-install them anyways
Can you tell me how to disable it? If I press install
I can walk you through some options once you're done, sure
Alright, first of all, follow this guide. We'll need to know what MoBo you have
im waiting for the “it will close in 10 minutes” msg
You can just... close it
See this photo if you are not sure what this means
That's your GPU
Give it a bit, it's collecting info in the background
Other than time, no
Alright, basic steps should be
- Get into BIOS
- Head to SETTINGS -> Advanced -> Integrated Graphics Configuration
- Set "Initiate Graphic Adapter" to "PEG"
If you need more details, I'd appreciate if someone else could help you out, it's rather late here
alr
hold on
It’s already in peg
Ah didn’t read last thing, don’t worry thanks for the help
also rlly dumb question
how is it possible to play gta at good fps, r6 in others, and not being able to run fortnite
same with me, i have an rtx 3050 (laptop gpu) with i5 12th gen and my fortnite lags like hell, even on medium settings, it runs at about 100-120 then starts stuttering.
Hm, well that's all I can find on the subject
It's not too bad to have the extra driver though, in case your dGPU ever fails, you still have your iGPU ready
Last I checked, Fortnite uses DirectX 12 for rendering (while GTA and R6 use DX11)
Is updating the bios important ?
the guy that told me to do so as first thing when trying to solve a troubleshooting problem fucked my pc up
Well, the BIOS update just reset your very-carefully-crafted-to-not-explode BIOS settings the last guy set up
Why fix your broken install when it’s faster to just half ass some bios settings until it works?
