#3080 not running full performance?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
just jokes
anyways
are you using Resizeable Bar?
because that can decrease performance
in some games
Check your GPU usage % and clock speeds.
The 3080 is a lot of video card.
After all, it was originally intended for 4K gaming. Makes sense 1440p and 1080p are going to be no sweat.
BO3 is on the old side. You may be running into CPU limits.
See if GPU usage goes up when you play at a higher resolution (either with render scaling or DLDSR)
Also, check if your RAM is running at the correct speed. I've troubleshooted a 2133 speed yesterday
CPU and GPU both at 21% basically
Download 3DMark and run the Time Spy benchmark to verify that your GPU is performing to spec.
(If it looks like paid software, click Download Demo)
PC gaming is a quest for performance, a never-ending cycle of upgrading, overclocking, and tweaking your system for faster frame rates, higher resolutions, and better quality visual effects.3DMark is essential equipment for this quest. For more than 20 years, 3DMark has been the first choice for benchmarking, testing, and comparing PC performanc...

(Click the Download Demo button on the side)
now i saw it XD
i thought it was like downloading a demo of a game XD
this will take several minutes (free versions have an unskippable demo)
@heady slate
There doesn't seem to be problems. (3DMark stats are influenced by the CPU and any overclocking.)
Do you have other games you can check?
Is GPU usage at least 90% and the clock speed the GPU's rated base speed or higher?
Are you running Vsync On and/or using a frame cap?
Might be worth disabling Vsync in Nvidia control panel globally to check
on other games yes it is
never used Vsync
It happens. Some games cap out for other reasons.
You don't have any problems judging from 3DMark stats
Not all games run fine, not because your GPU but because their code ain't polished
Which is the case in most new games
For instance PUBG
it seems kinda strange tho that BO3 a game of like 10 years ago, can't manage to do 140 fps in 2k
If the benchmark you did has no issues with the final score there ain't much to do
It's running as expected now, your CPU on the other hand could be the limiting factor as well
You could watch a yt video with same specifications as yours and compare
in 2k stretched (2440x1920)
Valorant is CPU dependant
even CS:GO, tho cs:go manages to do 600 fps
CSGO is cpu dependant as well
Valorant has some issues from few months back in terms of performance, any forum you get on is the users complain about performance issues
They say it's an update to their anti cheat a while back
If the benchmarks show no issues with GPU score, especially pushed to the max I'd say everything is fine
Yeah
- i have a question
I mean there's nothing to be fixed, if the scores were lower than expected then yeah but in your case it's fine
i got this 3080 from LDLC for 950€, tho if it's having some problems, i want ask for a warranty... the thing is, LDLC doesn't sell anymore this GPU, so... how does the warranty work?
if you guys know it
cuz if i get a refund, i can get a 4070ti maybe
That I'm not sure but I am 100% sure there's nothing wrong with the card
could it be the ram? that makes my pc performs bad maybe? i have 16gb ddr4 3.600mhz(?)
They won't do the warranty 100%, they'll test the card before doing anything
You tried comparing your specs to someone on YouTube? The games you play
i did ye
wait
i had a problem long ago, that made my whole pc crash while i was playing god of war or cyberpunk
or any other heavy game
basically my monitors become black with alternate colors, all my USB ports they get disconnected and then reconnected, and after the PC crashes
so i thought IT WAS the GPU
i have some pictures of it
I can't give you an answer to that, could be anything, really
You have any story mode games? If so tell me what games and imma vheck performance on youtube then compare them to yours
God of war for instance
Or cyberpunk, even better as it has benchmark mode
Or some other game that has benchmark mode, cyberpunk is good but we need recent video as the game had the major code rehaul
i don't have any game that has a benchmark mode on it i think
Cyberpunk?
i need to reinstall it XD
Oh
wait i have god of war, but i don''t think it has benchmark mode
Problem with doing it by walking around is that, you'll have to do the same scene as in yt video and that stuff
Benchmark would be the best if possible
Wait, let me see if there's any benchmarks online with that game
Your monitor is 2560*1440?
i have two monitors.
My main is 2560x1440 144hz
my 2nd is 1920x1080 scaled to 2560x1440 120hz
Ok
Disconnect the second monitor when you do the testing, just during the testing. You can open msi afterburner performance overlay and record some gameplay, freeroam. Performance overlay keep FPS active the rest no need
Or you could tell me average FPS you do when playing
You need rtss rivatuner statistic server
give me a second i'll reinstall it
The app that comes with afterburner, you have option to install it
Also you need to go in msi afterburner settings and find overlay settings
There you'll have to tick the stuff you want to be shown
wait, can you hop in a vc atm? so you can tell me what to do? if it's okey for you obv
I'm on my phone right now, I'll get some pics from the internet
That tab, so you see that tick icon next to GPU usage and rest the stuff below
That means it'll show, the stuff you tick
And the thing in red circle should not be grayed out
Send a shot after you set it up
like this?
Make sure frame rate is ticked, it'll show in OSD next to it if it's enabled
That looks fine in photo, everything that says in OSD will be displayed
framerate speed(?)
Just framerate
here i have
Go up, it should be somewhere
Try to find frametime, it'll be next to it
What is periodo? It might be that but in another language?
k i did it
italian XD i'm sorry, i just changed the language to eng dw
kinda ye
wait, how can i show the stats on screen(?)
Ok, do some gaming, it doesn't have to be long. Walk, shoot and that kind of stuff and make sure to record the settings as well
I don't remember but I believe MSI overlay will always show
i'm still installing it, i try to open GoW in the meanwhile
Ok
Ok, do some walking, some shooting and post a video or tell me the FPS
Then set settings to HIGH and do the same
GPU TEMP is at 78 C°
It's fine, game more so we can see if it raises more
You'll need to play at least 15 minutes
And what does Alto mean?
alto is "high"
Ok
82°
i do
If yes, you can keep it active in background so I can take a look at vrel reading
PerfCap reading*
also what's GPU usage when you were gaming and gpu power usage?
You'll need to tick CPU usage in mai afterburner to check it
Even better would be the usage by core
So we get the real reading
Power usage? GPU Wattage
Yes, that, all of its cores
do i need to select them all?
Yes
340watts for the GPU
Ok
75watts the cpu
GPU is running at max power then, send a shot from GPU Z but it has no issue with throttling as it uses 340 watts (maximun)
You may want to expand the window. (Use the top or bottom borders to resize.)
I want to check why PerfCap Reason is purple
Do that, run the game again, and as soon as you tab out to GPU-Z, use your mouse cursor to move it to the purple part in PerfCap Reason, then screenshot
@heady slate purple is thermal limit
sounds suspicious
now just to get the window to be bigger then we'll know if it's too hot or thermal limits set too low
I expect it to be too hot, but the fact is it can be set to 65C... and afterburner default settings link temp and power limit sliders together, so if you only tried to set power to lowest without doing anything else... you get 65C
That's true
sooo what should i do?
expand the GPU-Z's window (use your mouse to drag the window borders at the top or bottom)
make sure you can see both GPU Temperature, Hot Spot, and PerfCap Reason in the same window without scrolling
with GPU-Z still open, play a game
once you lag again immediately tab to GPU-Z and screenshot it for us
