#Cannot install older drivers

I've encountered the latest Nvidia driver bug for laptop BSOD, so I'm trying to roll back to the previous driver version, but it is straight up not working.

I've tried using DDU in safe mode and then installing the older driver through manual download, but when I restart my PC it doesn't register the driver, and going into device manager gives this error. I've tried doing the same thing but then using Geforce Experience to install the Studio Drivers (which is a version older), but every time it finishes installing it still shows that it needs to install - so the installation isn't registering.

Would really appreciate some help!

Try installing installing a driver downloaded from your manufacturer website

#

From your laptop manufacturer website*

Also thing to note, whenever I run DDU to remove the drivers, upon restart, after around 2-3 mins, the laptop will BSOD once, with the same error code as the one when trying to install the newest driver. Not afterwards though

#

I get the feeling DDU isn't cleaning up everything properly

What bsod do you get?

Honestly I can recommend you to report to nvidia support ticket or their forum

#

Check the forum, there's many many users with the same bsod code as you

#

You'll most likely have to wait for them to fix it

You can also follow the forum there, someone might come with a solution before they release a fix, hopefully

@sand spindle u still getting bsod frequently?

sand spindle

It does mean I basically have my GPU disabled, but I'm making do with the integrated unit for now.

@sand spindle when u switched up to prev version or the manufacturer's version after ddu, did it still give u bsod?

idk, i lack time to again run ddu and do this process for the 2nd time so imma wait for nvidia to fix it

All you have to do is block the wifi or disable ethernet so windows can't auto install

#

You can try doing that if you haven't

#

I hope they fix it soon

#

Plus nvcontainer high cpu usage

Update : Reporting that this hotfix does NOT fix [4008527]. My notebook, which has the GTX 1070 M, still has the same BSOD/bluescreen issue while installing the driver.
@stiff stone did the hotfix fix your problem?

heya @sand spindle i have the same gpu as you (notebook but not max-q) and kept getting the same bsod as you while playing 3D games, just capping the fps at 60 (or turning on v-sync) seemed to get rid of the problem for me

#

i still do get the bsod if i run 3D programs for long hours (7-8hrs) in my laptop but i don't get the bsod as much now

sand spindle
#

Hey @shy vine thanks for the reply! Problem on my end is I can't even install the new driver, since the BSOD error happens during the installation process of the driver, and when the laptop restarts, I don't have drivers. If it actually installed and read the thing in the first place, I could maybe work something out

@modest swan UPDATE OH MY GOD, that actually worked! I tried your method but with the latest hotfix (531.26), and it actually installed just fine from safe mode, and my system actually detects my GPU properly now. Thank you so much!
