Old GPU and new GPU?
I mean pictures/model name of both
ohh
i can name them yes
current specs:
Motherboard: ASRock A320M-HDV R4.0 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard
Cpu: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor
Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory
New Gpu: MSI VENTUS 2X OC GeForce RTX 3050 8GB 8 GB Video Card
Current Gpu: MSI Gaming GeForce GTX 1650 128-Bit
Power Supply: Thermaltake Smart 600 W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply
Operating System: Win 11
@tough vine
I'm assuming you already confirmed the PCIe power connector is connected properly
Yes as the fans spin for the new gpu
which means its getting power right ?
can they?
idk what that means man
Or adapted
its js a long cord
and its inside my psu
and it goes to my gpu
so even if its not plugged in right the fans can spin?
The PCIE Cable was plugged in and i got told it was correct by a friend./
im js upset because people say i got a faulty gpu and im unable to get a new one if returned.
I tried going to best buy and they tried charging me $200
the 4th
i bought the gpu 5 days ago
no like
i went to them
to fix it
and see the issue
and they wanted me to pay $200
i just need to know whats wrong
i ordered it from amazon so
is there any trouble shooting for it? my current gpu dont need a PCIE and it turns on
and works
i would like to test and 100% make sure my new gpu works before i do
lol
what is that
no i dont
if i change the bios to pcie will my current gpu stop getting display?
since its not connected to pcie
alright
so set it to 3?
and if it dont work then return it?
Remember
Even if it works with pcie3
Technically, it's exposing a defect
Problem being we're not sure if it's the board or the GPU
However, unlike the 6500XT
it cant be the board because my current stuff works in it right?
it has no pcie
So it's unable to test that part
All add in boards have pcie
no my gpu
It's the gold thingy at their bottoms
Pcie power is a separate thing
to link it
ohh
how do i check?
i have my current one in rn
so i can msg u guys
the other gpu?
Yep
hooked up or?
Hmm
yee
Image isn't particularly useful
any other way i can take it?
Now, install the new card, and take its pic again
Don't need pics of the old card at all
Ok. Let us know oncd you've done so
There should be another grid of holes to plug something in at the top of the gpu
Did you forget something?
3050 115W: 6pin
3050 130W: 8pin
and then plug it in
Usually 8pin since 6pin 3050s are very new
Sure
this is the one i ordered
It needs a cable
Make sure it clicks
the pcie cable?
If it still can't start, despite setting it to pcie3 later on, this card's dead on arrival.
It has a clip that should do so
oh?
Well, it should. Clipped things normally do click
If you can't hear it, just visually confirm there are no gaps, and then try starting it up again.
this right?
it clicked
@tough vine
its in
im dusting it later btw dont worry
Alright. Everything looks OK. If it doesn't start, even after setting the PCIe version in the BIOS to PCIe 3, return for defective product
Yeah, turn it on first. If it doesn't work this time, then do the PCIe version change
i got no display
(From the CPU side)
i havent
changed bios
yet
is there no point?
i can try man.
if it dont work ill js return it
OK, as a last result, do that. If it boots, something's fucky with the PCIe slot or the connector.
is that gpu and my motherboard comparible(
compatible
alr
my pc does boot up
js no display
do i still try the pcie bios(
alr ill try it man
if it dont work then gpus just dead?
Very likely since we know your board will work with pcie3 gpus
The 3050 isn't hard to power on either, so if the power supply isn't a gutless wonder using a late 90s design it won't explode
Not quite enough information (full model name is preferable) but if it's not too old...
idk it g
it says
thermal take
smart
80+ gold
600w
in my bios where do i change pcies,
@tough vine
pci configuration?
I don't have a ryzen board here but this is usually placed in a tab that doesn't contain oc settings in intel
Need help? Take pics of the screen
yeah
for some reason its on my sideways monitor so bare with me
js turn ur phone LOL
Press Enter
Scroll down til the previous options are not visible and one more pic
OK. Go back. Now try Onboard Devices.
i found this
Not relevant.
Bingo
wdym
Not lanes
PCIe x16 Speed
its on auto
Ded gpu
The options top out at Gen 3
If you wanted to you could try gen 2 but the gpu probably is already doa
Dead on arrival
dead on arrival
Now we know it won't work even at reduced speed

ill just return it and get a new one
Time to make use of your return rights
i really appreciate u guys helping me
best buy tried charging me
$200
to trouble shoot it
and see what was wrong
Generally you must return it to the same store
i got it from@amazon
so ill return it
and get a new one ig
same card js a new one
Then send it to amazon or whoever sold it if it's a third party
alright well tysm guys
sad i got a dead gpu
so a new one should work right(
its nun to do w my bios or specs?
99% of the time if the psu isn't sending 0 power to a pcie power cable
But yeah 3% seems about right
(If the next GPU still doesn't start checking the psu)
fortnite
Fortnite?
no what
Fortnite is surprisingly hard to run for an esportsy game
They just updated it with new lighting though
Ah, upscaling?
You may be able to increase quality if frame rate doesn't improve instead
alright
tysm
i ordered a 240hz monitor and im upset bc i got this gpu for it
well ima just return it and get a new one thanks for fixing it guys
so my psu tho it should be fine,,
??
its a solid psu mane
it said estimates wattage 329
i got 600W 80+ gold
Yeah, but for some reason you mentioned smart and it's also 80+ gold so I'm not sure if it's "average" or "fire hazard"
Since the 80+ plain model was apparently bad
Didn't find a direct match but it shouldn't be a fire hazard at least since it's not a 80+ plain (white)
It's still getting power
ah
