Going to OEM install Linux Mint on my old juked up laptop and give it to my girlfriend (she's never had a "computer computer" before).

Looking to install/set up the remote desktop software before I wrap it this Hearth's Warming Eve to ease the bumps. But what to choose for a (currently) tech illiterate user?
