Today I got a notice from my internet provider starlink saying that I need to stop torrenting. When I was browsing torrenting sites for the latest episode of House of the Dragon I was using a VPN that is baked into my browser nordvpn specifically. Nordvpn allows torrenting my internet provider starlink is against it. What I think happened was when my torrent program took the torrent and started downloading it wasn't downloading through the nordvpn app because I didn't turn it on, I just forgot. And it clearly wasn't using the VPN add-on through Chrome I don't think it would anyway. With that being said is there a known safe way for me to continue torrenting on my Linux desktop which is running pop OS by the way without getting caught by my internet provider starlink? Or should I be okay as long as I don't forget to turn the Nord app on before hand?

Giving you any help on this would appear to contravene this rule as it would be encouraging you to commit piracy:

• While discussions about piracy are allowed, linking to pirated resources, encouraging users to pirate, or naming websites that enable piracy is not allowed.```

@keen wagon can you confirm whether my interpretation of this rule is too strict of not?

we're giving you no help on this

#

#etiquette v11 tells you

Do not ask for support on pirated/illegal software.

and i think that carries over to movies as well
