Hi I just installed Retroarch on EndeavorOS via Pacman and updated all the assets but I still dont see any icons while using the XMB interface.
Heres a pic for context.
So I'm wondering what else should I do?

You can download the assets manually. There's a separate folder for ozone, xmb, etc iirc.

#

The assets folder is probably set to a restricted folder without write access.

#

Change it in your directories to something in your home directory.

Unless by manual you mean with something like Yay or Pacman

#

Gonna try a reinstall to see if it changes anything

#

Should I try installing it with Pacman again or Flatpak?

Reinstalling did not work, gonna try flatpak

#

Nevermind downloading the Appimage worked

#

I'm good now

Okay, I've read from hunterk's post that RetroArch through package managers has a lot of things that lead to headaches. They can all be changed, but it's best to use the appimage version in Linux. I had the same problem with assets not working, so I manually copied the assets to the appropriate folder, which worked. The default folder was in a restricted location too.

simple rule : if you installed it from your package manager you have to install assets from your package manager.

#

As they disabled the Online updater.

#

Otherwise, use AppImage package or compile your own version.

how did you install the assets? from the online updater? if so, you'll need to install your distro's assets package (if it exists; I sure hope it does because that'd be messed up if not lol)

oh whoops, I didn't see this had a whole bunch of activity already
