Hi!!! I'm currently out of the house, so I can't provide logs immediately, but before I left I was troubleshooting 3ds emulation and I just couldn't find anything about the issues I was having. I'll post verbose logs when I get back

There's really 2 potential issues to solve here

  • Cores citra and Panda3ds don't launch
  • Core citra 2018 suffers from frequent freezing, that goes away when given an input

For the first one, everything I've been seeing is talking about an AMD driver update; but I'm not on an AMD GPU, I'm on Nvidia.

For the second issue, I've tried a number of things, primarily with the video, synchronization, and latency settings, but nothing has seemed to work.

This is happening across multiple roms. I think when I get home I'll also try standalone citra for troubleshooting, but I'd really really like to use retroarch, cuz there's sooooo many things that'd be more annoying to setup with standalone

Oh, specs are
Arch Linux
Threadripper 1950x
8gb 3060ti

even if the first problem were related to the AMD thing, it wouldn't affect Panda3DS, so at the very least, something else is up with it (we'd need to see a log to even guess there). For the second one, which video driver are you using? Most of the problems related to video freezing or being black unless you're moving, etc. are related to Mesa/vulkan stuff

oh oops I got my own specs wrong hehehehehe

hmm, bad mem size... I don't really see anything obvious from your retroarch log

Tried with azahar and opengl gave me a black screen, vulkan froze and then crashed not long into emulation

standalone azahar?

Yes

I've noticed retroarch is also freezing while sped up in core gpsp, but idk if that's related

Is there any chance that this could be caused by a memory leak elsewhere on my system??? I was playing slime rancher and it was freezing and top said that bun and discord were using like 28 GB of RAM out of 32... I know that this reporting isn't fully accurate to how much they need, but I figure neither of them should be idling that high
