I hope so
Maybe like a decision
It lowkey looked like the state rework wouldn’t allow accurate borders
Hoi4 needs to add (optional) scripted peaces
never
we need total capitulation push to vladivostok
Yes cause hoi4 is shit
He literally just said that more special goods than just opium should be depicted, not that it should be changed from special goods to opium.
Its not divided at the parallel which it never was in vanilla
oh right
i feel like thats not too big of a deal then
Would just think in a rework you’d want that
they dont plan to take the game that far
same as why theres no states for east and west berlin
They said they wanted to add more post war content
I dislike how hoi4 has a seeming focus on modern borders in 1936
🤷♂️ i dont think anyone would want to simulate the korean war and post war borders
deadass?
allied occupied austria omg
Why is Korea pre divided as the post Korean war border to begin with?
i would
Like the damn mongol border
After GDR I believe devs said they wanted post war content. Tbh the new factions would make it work
Damnit it should be fixed
it doesnt make sense that korea is two divided states in the first place
instead of multiple provinces
I personally think they should have divided it into North and South Berlin. North Berlin being a dystopian nightmare ruled by a single family and South Berlin being a dystopian nightmare ruled by Samsung.
Real
the parallel divide is completely abstract
same as many colonial borders the brits made lmao
Crazy how korea managed to fit two dystopians onto one peninsula
two sungs cant fit in one peninsula 🙏
or can they?
Also I dislike how hoi4 has this refusal for small states
It would make historical borders so much better if they added a couple extra small states
Like one tile states?
I just want a secret path for Japan where it becomes a mega corporation hellscape
Pretty much
Historical
Eupen-Malmady will rise once more!
No emperor, just stonks
how does this work
Ive looked around that map and there are maybe 10 or so of them
I checked the information
will chongqing go to the main roc later in the game
We’ll see
cuz it became the main wartime capital
Well yes but not where it matters
Yes sichuan gets absorbed
ohh ic
Islands don't count
Factions and territory transfer via decisions/focuses
The CPC only retained opium cultivation in one village and surrounding areas in parts of northwest Shanxi.
I wasnt counting them
Because the long-term cultivation of opium in that area has made it impossible to grow other crops
i wonder how accurate xinjiang is
Directly changing crops will make local farmers unable to survive
How small are we talking? Like Luxembourg small or Vatican City
Far better than before
i mean the civil war they have later in the game
cuz eight years simulates it
not sure about ncns
Its honestly pretty accurate but khotan ma should be called “new 36th division” and kumul khanate should just be called kumul
Tbh I just don’t think it’s a primary focus for many people in here. Yes it can probably be represented better but it’s a minor cog of a much larger tree and dlc
yeah more accurate than rt56 surprisingly
paradox cooked
Eupen malmedy for example which is the province above Luxembourg, not quite miniscule but not particularly large either
Rare paradox w
They should give greater hungary accurate states in yugoslavia
magyar nationalist here
Yes they need to split dalmatia into two states minimum
Yes we are all huns
But this tiny gear is the one I hate the most
And make the tiny sliver of slovenia a state
Real
true civilisation came from ASIA
Because this is more in line with the national policy of other warlords and Chiang Kai-shek's regime rather than the CPC
Make trieste it's own state so we can have post war trieste free state
So does it have 3-4 trees?
Naval invasion buff
Im going to guess that you cant destroy roc
(For 120 days)
two wooden junks floating over to general chiang's fleet
who will win
And they will just whitepeace to taiwan
make a bridge with the peasant bodies
oh interesting
maybe prc will get defected ROC navy ships like they did irl
I was right it is just a temporary naval invasion buff
But ROC gets a focus “Taiwan numba one” with a 50% defense on core territory buff
Didnt the navy get completely wiped out st the start of the sino japanese war
more like it pretty much never existed
Really hoping some of the warlord states get stuff of their own.
Pretty pointless
National spirits
oh ok i found it
And sinkiang can still form turkestan
the royal navy gave a ship to the ROC basically
How generous
but the crew had dogshit morale and fled to the communists
What could you really add for most of them?
then it instantly got sunk
Would be cool if they were focused on different types of units like Calvary, arty, infantry etc. with unique formables for parts of China
😭
Something schizo
If the Baltics can get a tree, the Warlord states can.
I saw someone suggest the mas should be able to form the qung dynasty because they were qing officers
They are getting a revamped warlord tree
Does the PRC own Taiwan today?
This should answer your question
that was about the ROC navy
not the prc navy
Well they actually had an organised government
japan permanent earthquake event
i do think warlord states should get some content but like
its tonnes of effort
And had existed for like 20 years by that point
I just want unique 3d models, unit specializations and small formables
Would be enough for me
good candidates would be yan xishan in shanxi and li zongren in the new guangxi clique
I feel like ive said this a million times but the warlords getting unique tree would be very pointless
And there are tons of other errors that I need to type in one by one. I won't be able to sleep tonight.
The dlc hasnt even released yet
Essentially, the entire text is based on errors.
Just voice your concerns in the forums
Tibet maybe could form a greater Tibet
Honestly I just don’t care about opium enough to continue talking about it 😂
they wont add additional trees regardless
Talking to the opium guy
ah
dw
loc error is so easy to fix
you can do it in like 2 hours if you really wanted
reddit or?
Its crazy how you can actually mod them and change them without breaking checksum
true 😭
Reddit or paradox forums
Wonder if Tibet and Mongolia will have any new spirits
Honestly that and the Ma would be about all I’d ask.
Ma should be able to unify
not even the small ma cliques
just the main one with ma bufang
peak
wrong ethnicity vro 💔
Mengjiang might
Wait till you find out about French Chile
Yuan Restorationist vs Qing Restorationist.
is that the wacky thing with the royalists
Watch there be another hidden monarchy path apart form the Qing one
classic monarchy
That should be mengjiang
End game Ma Hongkui is just creating a massive ice cream factory.
Or Guangxi going fully independent.
The "naval bomber"
Would you guys rather see the return of the Ming or Yuan?
Got removed sadly. He also is no longer leader at game start.
he would be good friends with castro
apart from the ideology ig
Although he is still a leader
Wonder how this will all interact with coal
Like if you conquer and have a ton of non core, factories get ate by coal usage.
I’d cackle if we got restoration paths for Yuan, Ming, and Song in addition to the existing Qing.
zheltorossiya path when?
who would have them though
especially song
Probably will get Ming
As a hidden
Shoutout for the Yulin Clique representation even if it couldn't make it to the map
Maybe if russia goes imperialist it would be a protectorate and if the user remains it can core it and reform the russian empire
This update could’ve been the best of the best if they included a Mongolian focus tree.
No pillaging and doing naughty things to people in the steppe this patch.
The greater Mongolia formable is already something atlesst
damn thats such a cool compromise
The remaining descendants of the Song are still around and living in and around Fujian and Guangdong, though IIRC the last mention of them as nobles comes from them integrating themselves with the Ming government in the 18th century.
So, based off location maybe something for Guangxi or a hidden RoC path.
I want a formable that stretches from India to the skirts of Hungary and Korea.
yeah i feel like it would be extra schizo
they would have an extremely hard time even researching a claimant to the position
or someone who was identifiably a descendant of the song lineage
If they ever modernize the U.S. focus tree they need to get rid of the civil war mechanic if you go Fascist, makes no sense.
The Yellow Sand Society that advocated for the Ming Restoration actually defeated the East Hebei garrison in 1936
Japan had to step in and drive them out
History has clearly shown that America quite easily switches to fascism bloodlessly
Also they should remove the csa shit cause it makes no sense, it should be its own path
I know we live in Greater Israel at the moment but that’s beside the point.
America needs a new focus tree desperately.
Probably the next major dlc will be the allies
Hidden path within Ming restorationist would be the way to do it if anything, though they’d have to find a candidate.
Or establish a regency council that’s whole thing is finding a candidate.
finding a candidate for the throne who definitely isnt long dead in a recently united nation risen from warlord states
havent heard that trope before
Still kinda funny how they left out New Zealand for Siam in the next DLC when "Thunder at our Gates" kinda implies fighting against Japan, not with Japan
No, next question
I’d imagine the type of Communism taking form in the 1930’s in America would be close to Jacobinism.
They also did leave out Iceland in arms against tiranny(also a dlc with a dumb name) and it still ended up getting s focus tree
Don’t want the Qing, Yuan, and Ming battling it out in a 20th century remake of the Three Kingdoms?
I would rather have in depth content about the politics about Warlord china, which is much more interesting than the 527462956th path of le epic schizo monarchic restoration
Yan Xishan Thought will dominate China as the superior ideology
Porque no los dos?
As we see with the Greek and Bulgarian trees, for example.
Or the revival of the Polish Lithuanian commonwealth and Tsarist Russia.
The Anastasia Romanov as a secret path was a fun idea, but after GoE it has been proved we can't go too schozo
Greece is a horrible point, its focus tree is terrible. 95% of the playthroughs are just Byzantium and 4% of the others are democratic Megali (which is underrated, although it is absurd you can't get Cyprus)
There is literally no point in playing anything else
It's kinda unlikely since it was more so related to Guangdong but I wonder if China will get a Federalist path
Turkey and Greece need overhaul in the next balance dlc
Turkey is fine content wise but needs severe time adjustments
Polish Lithuania is not that weird, considering it only had been 140 years ago and the Poles had some ambitions over Lithuania irl, and the tsarist is passable, if only to give more content to the Soviets than just communism
But getting the goddamn Song Dinasty in 1940 instead of investing that time in actual interesting content? Come on
The poles already wanted a second Poland Lithuania after ww1 historically
The 35 days focus mod makes it the best formable in the game
And the Turkish focus tree is actually solid in its content
It covers pretty much everything it could cover really
Honestly true
@undone kelp Because it explores the mechanics of Kemalism, allowing you to
a) either drift it into a communist/fascist movement
b) allows you to become a true democracy under Kemalism
c) the one before but it gets subverted by traditionalists and get your funny monarchy (the ottomans)
This is the way to go
What is Bulgaria's job in historical multiplayer?
Not " haha, wouldn't it be nice to bring the Tang Dinasty back in 1936?"
Open Crusader Kings if you want to play that
You are getting a China update in a few weeks, go profit from it
Or you can do something silly and just stay as the Provisional Government because Paradox forgot to add a flag to prevent you from going the Balkan path
Meanwhile France has three different monarchy restorationist paths
All of which suck
Because there were three royal houses in France in the last 100 years
Who actively claimed the throne
Also, by 1936 there was still a significant amount of monarchists in France
Do you really believe that people would support somebody who claims to be the heir of the Tang or the Song Dinasties?
Please, @undone kelp stop contributing to Paradox bringing slop to the game
Man, the gatekeeping be real. How to trigger Placido 101.
I have had enough of people who want to turn this game into a simulator of monarchist stravaganza
Truthnuke
The game has a great potential, but there are people who don't understand that the game is suffering from this outlook
Most monarchist paths are pretty much just fascist larpers
I don't mind having Easter eggs and funny stuff, but sometimes Paradox offers its hand and people take the whole arm
I want every nation to feel unique in its own ways, and the 3000th monarchist larping path makes it very difficult
I don’t find it any more out pocket than the idea of Japan suddenly turning communist in 1936, or Germany democratic in 1936 and recovering from a civil war in time for another major world war, or the CSA suddenly rising from the grave 80 years later.
A result of so many nations having had monarchies more than anything else.
There are a few orders of magnitude between "the Wechtmacht fears having their own long knives night, so they rebel" and The Silk Road Empire
Also, I believe that while drifting a bit into alt-history, a communist Japan in a country that had a good number of Communists after all isn't that weird.
But there are many more interesting paths, histories we could explore
I personally find the csa one the dumbest
Yeah, I agree, although it is a very old dlc
Paradox wanted a fascist path and didn't bother to do their homework
If there is a new csa path in a later us dlc it should have America splitting in two after the civil war and as the csa you would be able to form the golden circle in the Caribbean
idk what that golden circle thing is
Pretty much greater csa
you know what would be interesting for the us?
a different approach towards the great depression
rather than starting as an extremely limited growth-wise, it should start with fewer factories, but have an exponential growth
but, here is the catch: you get factories through focuses and decisions, and if you fail at having a satisfactory new Deal, you may get a revolt
socialist sentiments may grow in industralised regions, and nostalgics may grow in the south if the government doesn't improve well enough those regions
it would make more sense than just "Alf Landon provoked the second civil war"
Greater Jamaica 🔥 🔥🦅 🦅 🇯🇲 🇯🇲
understood
adding 3000y old empire
with cores on half the world
to every shitter meme nation
to be fair, I am so far satisfied about everything they have announced for NCNS
I am giving a trust vote to the A team, but the B team that is in charge of the Siam rework has yet to earn it
I hope they have learned lessons from GoE
I think it could be feasible with some mechanics that represent the challenge of having such a nation
but I doubt they will be incorpored, it would make too much sense
Mongol empire is guess
That one is kinda fine lol
Oddly enough, I am more invested in Indonesia being good. Granted this is mostly because that one person constantly beating the drum about a good Indonesia focus tree has gotten me invested in it.
dei, siam and australia have the potential of being a fine dlc
I am going to give Paradox a trust vote and buy the expansion pack, if thunder at our gates is shit I won't any more
and just because I hope that GoE backlash has been big enough for the devs to get a good scold
Surely, just like ToAs backclash worked
ToA was a good dlc that happened to be a bit unbalanced. It is just not what people expected because everybody was obsessed with a Middle East dlc and it was a bit expensive
But TOA was good
I just hope Thunder At Our Gates has a good amount of characters and paths alongside the HQ feature being good.
One of my biggest disappointments from both the original release version of GOE and the fixes to it afterwards was the lack of characters added (especially for Iraq).
No, while we've touched up the Warlords to work with the new content their trees more or less look the same and won't be getting a Dev Diary. I think we're showing off some stuff in the Nationalists' DD though...
warlods wll fet maybe less then manchuria
warlord path is probably just tweaked with the border conflicts and how aligning with other Chinas work
next week I assume is the ROC and they'll either talk about them then or it'll be right near the end where they'll probaby show manchuko
commie china stream next?
if next diary is philippines instead of china i will crash out
maybe we get Kmt china and the they stream both chinas
i hope we get next kmt china dev diary
The lake between outer and inner manchuria seems to no longer be controlled by the USCR
Next dev diary is gonna be Bhutan focus tree
We pretty much saw most Philippines content already
In the dev corner
Aren’t we due a nationalist China tree first ?
yes
I think they confirmed national china
The only other country it could be is manchukuo
manchukuo will not get a dev diary
It looks like they made Hong Kong and Macau smaller
For the best
And neither will the Philippines meaning the next is the kuomintang
north eastern army mains where?
It has army in the name so it must be strong
the philpiens will get a dev diary
in strength I think its
- China
- Sichuan Clique
- Guangxi Clique
- Shangdong
- Northeastern army
They already showed everything off in the dev corner?
Why would they even make another one for the Philippines
because maybe they changed stuff
adding these warlords is just bloat and trash lag bullshit, to make it look like paradox is doing somethin
And manchukuo isn't getting anything?
probably wont even fix the peace out with japans
an the focus tree was 100 times shown in this chat
How dare there be historical accuracy in my slop fascism larp simulator
you mean that near vladivostok?
Yes
if there would be historical accuracy these would be labeled as autonomos provinces of china and whatnot and also more of them.
So we're the Philippines
they wont even have significance
Hmmmmmm
they show ther new nation in a dev diary alone promotion wise
So your complaint is that they added something but also that they also didn't add enough? Also historically yes these regions were very autonomous. It's about time xibei san ma gets removed
If you're gonna do something atleast do it right, no?
Also I don't get the tags create lag excuse, like whenever Britain decolonises the game runs at roughly the same speed it usually does
xibei san ma still exists but in another name lol
its not like you will escape the charisma of Ma bufang
they have pretty much added all of them
Maybe you could argue yulin isn't there but they are still represented as a malice the Chinese soviet republic gets
I wonder why mengjiang exists? its supposed to be called Mongol autonomous military government or smth like that and mengkukuo wasnt established until 1939
Mongol autonomous military governmen is a focu in jpan focus tree
foucus you need to take if not mengjang cann join the unidet front
they said on the live stream
It was a state before then it's just that it became a Japanese protectorate
Im curious if it will be hard to demand subjagation now
1939 start date is a war crime how bad it is it has population from 1936 and some countries are half as strong as they would normally be if you started in 1936
They honestly should just remove 1939 start
I was actually using that map to see major differences when arguing with the other guy
Paradox has added a vast majority of these
some warlords where not significant enough but all of these should atleast be local modifiers or spirits
Yes and I think Hami is a releaseable
we saw it as kamul khanate in the stream
Exactly so I don't really understand the whole "not enough" complaint
Paradox players are never happy
The whole complaint is unfounded
Cough cough road to 56 cough black ice
world ablaze
Also
but tbh they are all so weak
Atleast r56 calls it the ma clique collective
road to 56 just gave china a warlord cliques spirit
ig its ok but i like seeing more warlords
Isn't it also in base game?
maybe
i just hate that its too easy to play china
just spam infantry and japan ai cant push especially if you build forts in beijing
The new cliques might make that harder
for sure
bc cant build forts there and maybe wont even get military acces
And all the other stuff
- risk of capitulation on the front
I think heibei is a Chinese puppet
So they can build forts but the issue of fortune limits remains
this mod is so fun
What more does it have than normal rt56
antarctica and north pole, and some fun stuff
recommend looking for yourself
accurate world map exept the pasific islands are weird apparently
I hope we get a way to make Hiraheto emperor of China
Hopefully we keep the ability to make mcarthur leader of China although I severely doubt it
Given the shared part of the focus tree is gone
For the cpc alteast
I mean its a glitch
So, which is the best way to unite China diplomatically: 28 and a half Bolsheviks or diarchy?
he can be sent to china to help out there but sometimes if the war resolves a bit wonky you can effectively get him as the country leader for some reason, its kinda funny
New communist China looks fun
Did you think that was a feature😅
nah would be cool secret cosmetic tag like kingdom of Finland
would be sick for china
Why don't you just make a UK update instead of releasing some fking dlc?
Name one person that is recorded to be descended from the tang dynsasty
Its in mtg which will be integrated
unless they just straight up make up a claimant it’s not happening lmao
small footnote
there was a government recognised line of succession of the ming dynasty
The Marquis of Extended Grace was a title held by a descendant of the imperial family of the Ming dynasty (1368–1644) during the subsequent Qing dynasty (1644–1912). Holders of this title were also called the Marquis of Zhu from the surname of the Ming imperial family. The marquis presided at memorial ceremonies held twice a year at the Ming...
the last holder of the title met puyi
but at most they were ceremonial and it was abolished in 1912
it no way shape or form was there an actual movement to restore the ming dynasty
werent there some small peasant groups aiming to restore the ming
pretty much footnotes in history though
that was immediately after the qing took control of the mainland
no not those
The Yellow Sand Society (Chinese: 黃沙會; Wade–Giles: Huang Sha Hui), also known as Yellow Way Society (Chinese: 黃道會; Wade–Giles: Huang Tao Hui), and Yellow Gate Society (Chinese: 黃門會; Wade–Giles: Huang Men Hui), was a rural secret society and folk religious sect in northern China during the 19th and 20th century.
Inspired ...
Yellow Sand mentioned
the prc had to suppress them in the end
i mean sure but that is definitely schizo
easter island child schizo path
also considering shit like taiping started similarly
its not completely without precedent
taiping should also not be in the game
"in July 1936. Led by an old Taoist priest, the Yellow Sands managed to defeat an East Hebei Army unit that was sent to suppress them in Miyun District, whereupon the Imperial Japanese Army mobilized to crush the uprising.[23]"
If East Hebei Autonomous Government was a country of its own, this would've been one way to restore the Ming lol
reviving 100s of year old empires should not be in the game
yeah obviously
taiping was dead as hell by then
but yellow sands was technically an actual movement
✌️
a few will be disestablished early on
I dont get the obsession
Relevant thread yesterday
The only china that should have a monarchist path is manchukuo
@dapper lotus please leave the server, uninstall Hoi4 and install CK3 or Europa Universalis
Or just permanently play into the orient
We don't want slop in this game
The UK is bad currently, but honestly Japan was worse
I don't believe the order of priorities is bad, honestly
Shouldnt us be next after japan
Maybe, they are both very bad
Ireland, US UK Canada potentially?
6 countries? Unlikely
Honestly, I am willing to sacrifice NZ and South Africa for good content for the other 4
And NZ can get some content in thunder at our gates
A little flavour at least
South africa is poorly outdated
Or maybe a modders project for South Africa, like Czechia
France?
France is interesting
Its definitely not the weakest tree
Nor is it the most outdated
However it is outdated to major standards
It will probably get a rework but not for a while
I doubt they are reworking three majors on the same year
I hope that with France comes another rework to Spain, though
CCP turning into a social democratic party?
No this is ruled by the china democratic league
The China Democratic League (CDL) is one of the eight minor democratic parties in the People's Republic of China under the direction of the Chinese Communist Party. The CDL was originally founded in 1941 as a pro-democracy umbrella coalition group of the China Democratic Socialist Party, the Young China Party and the Chinese Peasants' and Worker...
This was zhang lans party
ah ok could be
So CCP have no place in a democratic Communist China?
What does this mean
? we hafe a focus reform the rebublic agter the focus yun yat sen so maybe you reform the CCP
Still dont understand
i belife he ask if the ccp is banned? i dont know either
Confirmed new releaseable (new starting tags did not count) so far for NCNS: Ryukyu (Okinawa), Kumul Khanate, and (East) Timor
Would Sulu and Taiwan joined the ranks?
Like a formosa tag?
Yuup
Indigenous portrait
Democracy is when you ban political parties
There is also the kumul khanate
That just appears in the xinjiang war
Although it should be called just kumul
It's still not a starting country
🤷♂️
And I do presume it has its own tag
Sidenote but they are very inconsistent with the cliques name
Foremost shandong shouldnt be called a clique
More like a glorified province
And yunnan and shanxi dont have the clique in the name
I‘m just happy there‘s finally more warlords tbh
Real, there was a guy yesterday complaining that there were too many
But also at the same time too little?
Warlord maxxing
How da hell does that make sense?
Yeah idk
Also cause paradox added pretty much all of them
I mean I would understand that some would complain since this will certainly cause more lag since more country tags and units but still
People highly overestimate how much lag countries really make
Not really
And they will eventually be shaved down
Hebei shandong sichuan guangdong northeastern army and khotan ma will be annexed
Shit mengjiang doesn't have the warlord tree
Well its kind of different from warlord
Big Tibet
As long as the AI can handle it well
Normal Tibet, Tibet was just incorrectly sized up until now
People complain about anything. Just like opium Guy
Would be cool if you can start Japan Balkanized
Why was hoi4 Tibet small to begin with?
I'm interested to see what Nationalist China's focus tree will look like.
Small Tibet had the modern borders of Tibet
Xikang (the eastern part they have in that screenshot) was occupied by KMT-aligned forces some years earlier, and reformed into a Province of the Republic in 1939
I think the old setup was more accurate for 1936? They'll probably have a decision to seize Xikang in the end though
me too
Nationalist China iam hyped
glory Chiang Kai-shek
Three Principles of the People for the win
surely theres like a focus
that pressures germany to do something
or support china
because never in a million years does the ai do the china part
-befriend china*
like if held off they see that theyre worth inevsting in
/high relations+did invite german tings
I’m extremely happy with how communist China is looking
Almost to a T what I was hoping for China, a big struggle that has a fat late game
I’m extremely excited to see how Nationalist China pans out
Bad work by Paradox
I’m also happy they finally, finally finally finally, enabled all political paths to proclaim the people’s republic
We have been promised LKMT Wang Jingwei path, I am happy
I thought we only had a fascist one, you mean we get both???
I am going to larp him growing some balls he lacked otl
In the Dev corner they showed some sneak peeks for Wang Jingwei
I don't think it is intended to be a fascist path, I suppose that would be the Yellow Shirts
Perhaps I am simply misunderstanding Chinese history and politics tbh
I’m just happy that the communist seem absolutely perfect, and it gives me alot of hope that the nationalist will be too. Can’t wait to see what minor stuff the warlords get too
This is easily the most exciting regional update since NSB for me
Waiting for more British colonies and French colonies as puppet states
I’d hope they recognize the mistake of doing that with GOE
(Personally tho, I was more than happy that they did it with the Belgian Congo, not the best nation, but absolutely underrated, and Africa always deserves more resources and development)
Agree
I wouldn’t even be upset about it if the middle eastern colonies were given any kinda flavor at all, they aren’t even something fancy like IEA or the reichscommisariats where they have no cores
Kinda feels insulting the added the 37 Palestinian revolt, but it does literally nothing to the British colonial government
For me I would like to add more puppet states colony like British East Africa
Or French Indochina
Real
Even the limited amount of content like they are doing with mengjiang is something
Or they could be given a regional tree
Idk, I’m not one to complain about lag, but adding new states needs to make sense
Iceland? Sure, fun
Aussa? Neat, fun, meaningless in most games anyways, who cares
But why add the middle eastern colonies?
British East Africa and British Hong Kong is more important
For uhh
Adding more Chinese warlords, awesome fun
Middle East is boring
Yeah like Sichuan
Anyone agree with me to add British East Africa and British Hong Kong
YES ACTUALLY
Yeah
EGYPT 100%
1000%
100000%
The next middle eastern DLC should do Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, and frankly they should use that update as an excuse to remove the colonial governments from the map
There is literally no reason not to
Yeah
Road of 56 did better than original at this point
👍
Plus, adding Egypt means more development for Africa, which is always a plus
Add Egypt, update South Africa too, then I’ll call the continent perfect
If they adding Egypt no way British East Africa is missing
I would like to see adding Rhodesia
Maybe with some ancient egypt larp path
Or Pan-Arabia
That is mandatory
Alr
so, if I can ask, what’s gonna be the benefit of these British African colonial governments?
That you wanna add
You can't have an Egyptian focus tree without one or more pan Arabic paths
Egypt makes sense, sorta kinda independent but not really
Idk
As a puppet state
Dominion level puppet?
Nah, probably appropriate to call it an integrated puppet
Sure they had self rule? But like, did they really tho?
Maybe regular puppet actually
How would the Anglo Egyptian Sudan work?
Probably as a focus to transfer the states to Egypt I’d say
But if you go with loser’s idea of making alot of colonial governments, could be its own tag, or just still have the states transferred to it in the form of a puppet government
Lag 🔥
I don’t normally think it causes much issues, but I do think we should only add new states if they serve a purpose
People really overestimate how much lag countries produce
With or without Britain decolonizing the game runs at the same speed
Roughly
6 new tags don’t cause that much more damage in a game with like 90 others
I just want it to have a reason to not be integrated like the rest of the non-dominion/major colonies
Like, there’s a reason the DEI, British Malaya, Belgian Congo, and British Raj are independent tags
But why is Burma, Palestine, and Syria set up as separate tags, when say, Sri Lanka, Hawaii, French Indochina, and Kenya aren’t?
Really actually, idk why British Malaya isn’t directly controlled by the UK either
Why would it be?
Well, why wouldn’t it be?
I understand the DEI in the same way that the Raj and Congo are independent, they absolutely dwarf their colonial masters, but Malaya feels almost like an outlier
The compromise would be to have them as "empty puppets"
Hmm?
Don't have them build divisions, only do focuses that give factories, etc
Not as countries who are constantly trying to do stuff
Do we really need puppet Syria pumping out divisions?
Well, no, but honestly that kinda makes it feel even weirder to just have countries with their AI turned off
Doesn’t feel like hoi4 was designed with such a Thing in mind
Put an AI logic forbidding them from doing certain stuff and even check for it
It could be a game rule. Hoi would benefit from some gamerules that don't disallow Ironman/achievements
It would be a nerf to majors too, primarily the allies
I am not talking about India-like puppets, but about Oman
No I know, but the UK benefits from owning a lot of the states it owns for example
Decent bit of manpower, resources and a few build slots
France does too to a lesser extent
Vietnam gives 100k troops when having high compliance lol
Oh shit fr? I always forget how high population they are
I’m a lazy France player, I always release everybody
It does, I released them once and my recruitable pop reduced by 100k
Damn
What achievements do you think they’re adding?
Fascist path was revealed in the China Dev Corner to be Dai Li using the Blueshirts with his portrait shown off in the portrait dev corner. We know there are also going to be other democratic leader options for Nationalist China due to the portrait dev corner showing off a portrait of Carsun Chang.
Macau my day 2
But it is France from their treaty port
As the Kumul Khanate, claim the Mandate of heaven
"Visiting Commodore Perry" as Fascist Japan, park the Yamato in Washington's port
Probably one as Zhang Xueliang take back Manchuria
As mengjiang reclaim all former mongol empire states
I was looking at Zhang Xueliang and i found it crazy when i saw he died in 2001
Bro lived through it all
i got so many ideas for mod
but i just broke my monitor 😭
He also banged Mussolini's daughter
Would Manchukuo be reworked in the future?
We've added a little sumthin' for them.... But more about that LATER 😉
Hmmm what could that mean
Mongol empire tree confirmed ?
As nationalist china flee to Taiwan and retake mainland china
They showed the manchukuo focus tree
No
I am interested, however, in how a Mongolia gameplay could now be more interesting
Building up, then when the Japanese come knocking, get inner Mongolia for the revolution and unifying Mongolia for once
They literally said that there will be content for them in the dev diary replies
I feel like that implies a tree
They showed it in the stream
They literally said there will content to be talked about later , it was an early build we must be patient
Honestly chiang could probably be the leader of all ideologies other than communist
Thats not even hard
You have to cap the US + it is funny
You dont
Not that hard, but neither are other achievements
Just dont generate world tension/liberate china to reduce generated tension then click improve relation
10 pp 0.40 pp daily
True. Well, with the US being a puppet, then
The point of the achievement stands, doesn't it?
I suppose
Theres gonna be something stupid like as japan ally poland and occupy london
yeah nah bringing back dynasty’s is the most crazy thing ever, all of alt history hoi4 is slop, like you can be east India company and buy the whole world, revive Austria Hungary without war, and even in the new dlc somehow Japan being communist during 1936. Oh and Poland can be lead by a bear, Finland can unite Scandinavia without war pre 1939, Greece and turkey can both revive completely dead empires easily, Italy can form Rome but china reviving a dynasty during one of the most fragmented periods in its history is where you draw the line
Chile can have a small population of natives coup a centralised state and also core the whole americas
Hoi4 is not realistic and you shouldnt take it to seriously
I am calling for a change of course in the ways of sloppy alt-history. I agree that most of these are crap. Let's not make it worse
yeah but hoi4 is still on as played due to alt hist
you must embrace slop
like Japan looks so good and the alt hist paths look very non slop and good
Definitely that's the reason and not the fact that there isn't any competence in the "Strategy games that are more complicated than risk"
yeah but hoi4 is not hard
But others are too simple
Try to download a "strategy" game from the play store that is not shit
yeah but all non paradox games are not good
Hoi4 does need strategy
but people make it seem like it’s the hardest game know to man kind
a lot of singplayer comes down to rng rather then anything else
Paradox niche gives them a relatively small (compared to AAA games) but loyal fanbase (because there isn't anything better). They do profit from it
It is not a hard game, I don't claim otherwise
But HOI4 doesn't have a comparable game that rivals it
It is not the AAA games market where everyone fights everyone
It doesn’t need one and can’t really have one
cus they would be to similar
It would be healthy to have at least another company that makes similar products.
Monopolies are not great
Yeah but paradox rely on dlc for all games, they need to pump stuff out or money dries up
so they have to update regularly with dlc, and bad dlc = people don’t buy = paradox make no money
Maybe, but without a monopoly maybe they wouldn't bring such obscene prices to dlcs
so they are already incentivised to make good payed content other ways the lose money due to marketing model
There is a significant portion of the people who will buy it no matter what
yeah but GOE has much less purchases then other dlc
and that took money = paying workers and developers = if they don’t break even for costs of production = loss
Because it was sloppy, like the Tang dynasty path you want
no it’s because the paths all did the same thing and the nations all sucked = fighting allies jn 37 for empty desert which you can’t peace out for
But there are still lots of people who buy it no matter what
only slop path was EIC
EIC is a funny path ngl
GOE sucked cus as 1 civ Afghanistan I have to fight India and then have to somehow navy invade UK as Afghanistan
in 1938
The whole dlc seemed to be made by somebody who didn't understand how the game works
Yes that’s why it sucked not cus of cool alt hist paths
But disguised it as "haha, we are reviving old dead empires"
but that the only fun part of GOE is playing a Mughal India or caliphate Afghan
and coring all the Middle East
Without crazy alt hist paths, all those nations suck
Please elaborate on the cool alt history paths. Do you mean the terrible Mughal path, or playing Democratic Iraq (it is Kurdistan)?
Cool alt history path are just ones that run with cool ideas like chile coring France with a new kingdom for example, gives you a hard goal and a good reward for completion
I would rather have had a dlc by people who had studied the political reality of those countries and made a focus tree according to it rather than sit in a chair and say "What defunct empire should we revive today"?
yes but Reviving a Chinese dynasty is not super unrealistic in this period
A warlord state could easily do that
KMT and CCP china obvs would not be doing that
ToA was actually good in that sense, at least they did their homework. They then decided to put two schizo paths, but not before doing an actual good job at studying those politics (kind reminder Chile has 4 possible democratic parties to put in power)
but if you know stuff about Chinese history and the Mandate of Heaven, it’s not super unrealistic for a tiny warlord to go proclaim a new dynasty and try fight to reclaim all off china, could be a fun path, again hoi4 is not realistic
Half of China can claim to descend from those monarchies by 1936, and very few wanted the Qing let alone the God damn Tang Dynasty
Yeah but do you know why the Qjng collapsed
the one place that could restore the Ming (East Hebei Autonomous Government garrison that was defeated by the Yellow Sand Society that advocated for the dynasty) is not a tag of its own 🥀
Or anything about the Qing ?
Xinhai revolution, yes
The century of humiliation, etc
It’s not just one event
many
and it’s not like people didn’t like the monarchy, in fact puyi was kept as a figure head for a decent amount of time
after dynasty collapsed and before he went to Manchuria
cus of stability from monarchy
After 20 years of republicanism, the Chinese people were solidly republican. I may accept a monarchic restoration by the Qing, that the game accepts as a hard thing in the focus tree with that abysmal modifier
But reviving Dinasties that lost the power 300 years ago? Really? Come on.
Yes, I have understood your objections about it. They are dutifully noted
That doesn't change my point
We don't have to keep filling the game with shit
If you think alt history paths are all slop mate your playing the wrong game
Not all alt history, but most of what you are proposing are
The alt hist paths give countries different objectives and playstyles regardless of slop or context, without them the game would get boring
I legit said most of the alt history paths
if you love historical go play modded multiplayer like TFB
or play black ice single player
What are you guys even arguing about anymore
There are some that are genuinely not unlikely. Poland-Lithuania was genuinely an ambition of the Poles
But it’s still unrealistic and slop according to u
About @dapper lotus's eternal love for slop
But more context
Bit more context*
He wants a path for the Tang Dinasty out of all things in this game
In 1936
This guy thinks that hoi4 should remove most of alt history
bruv what
I have not claimed such a thing
I just said that hoi4 china / warlord should be able to claim Mandate of Heaven
So
This game is too have fun
Not larp with historical only
If you want to play with the Tang, congratulations, CK3 releases a DLC just for you next week
Without alt hist hoi4 would not be as popular
I would rather have the Devs time consecrated to make enticing mechanics grounded in history of China that is interesting enough by its own
history of china is legit all dynasties
they literally just have to make shit up if they want a tang dynasty path
what are you talking about
I am talking about the history of China from the 1930s, when the game happens
That’s Qing dynasty
Not From the year 867, as I say, that is covered by CK
no shit but it is way more realistic to have a ming claimant
tang is just schizoid
I said that
might as well bring back the xia dynasty while youre at it
Neither. It is 1936, the Ming have been under the ground for 300 years
revive qin shi huang and create a new teracotta army
.
I might as well put my great grandfather into the game and put him as a Jimena dinasty claimant to the Spanish throne
(he wasn't)
there were still ming revivalist groups
just very obscure
there were literally no tang revivalists
Doesn’t have to be tang, just Han lead dynasty
idc
..ming then
I just made a cool suggestion
But this guy got mad at ming
considering han monarchists would look towards the ming most likely
yes but according to this guy, any alt hist is slop so
ok thats bs
but i do agree tang is slop
Poland Lithuania is apparently more plausible even tho then ming china
lmfao
like gng if you don’t like alt hist play black ice
current alt history just missed the whole point of the game
it's no longer what if germany got nuclear weapons and more like suddenly the habsburgs seize power in Austria and gobble up every nation around them in 2 years
It does. There are a lot of genuinely interesting people in China in 1936 that could bring China to very different outcomes: What if Mao had been killed and Dent Xiaoping had become leader, what if Mi Zongren had opposed more seriously to Chiang, etc ...
deng xiaoping was a hardliner back then
he also was not in a position to take national leadership
Whatever. But not "we will revive ze monarchy for the 3000th time"
“The Yellow Sands also aimed at the restoration of the Ming dynasty.[1] This too was a common motive among Chinese secret societies, often expressed in the slogan "Oppose the Qing; restore the Ming".[31] This slogan remained popular in rural areas even after the Qing dynasty's fall and was still widely used in the 1940s.[32] The rule of the Ming dynasty represented an idealized time, and it was widely believed that a Ming restoration would result in a "reign of happiness and justice for all" under a "good sovereign".[33]”
Yeah and those alt hist options such
yes I want communist china but with new guy instead of mao
we kinda already have that
eh fair enough
make it more fun as it is a video game that’s not to realistic
"yes I want Reactionary Monarchist China, but today it is the Ming we are bringing back"
@dapper lotus idk, I invite you to play China in Kaiserreich and tell me the same
That is a very well done China
You can have triads and heavenly kingdoms in that
That shows how much potential it has and how it is wasted by doing such things
and in that mod you can legit revive the mongol empire
That's Kaiserredux you are thinking of
The actual good one is Kaiserreich
The same mod that is based on Germany winning WW1 unrelastic alt hist
I know, but the people are mostly the same that existed irl
So the mod should be slop according to you cus it’s still alt hist
Oh good, more arguing about "realism" in HOI4
Have you actually read about that one European guy
I have not claimed such a thing
In mongolia
Once again
Sternburg or whatever
This is exhausting and you are completely missing the point
Some wackiness it alt history is fine in base hoi4
So are you
Like the Polish kings are chosen because some guy walks in and says why they should
Yes thank you
and my whole thing is that a warlord state could have the option to claim the Mandate of Heaven
but nah to unrealistic
when you have EIC
If you have to jump through 500 hoops to get wackiness, im fine with that
That would be based actually
I just like having fun alt hist paths
yes this guy gets it
I want my historical to be realistic, but my ahistorical to be funny
Or grounded at least
yeah it’s pretty grounded
Funny is the meme paths where you have to do 10 billion stupid things to unlock it
Nah but I get what you mean, don’t want another EIC
Slopyard of Empires
only good slop like Mandate of Heaven pls
We dont want slop, we want sludge
Empire falls, Republic rises
Republic falls, replaced by Empire
Empire falls, replaced by Warlords
Warlords fall, replaced by Republic
Republic falls, replaced by Empire
Welcome back, Yuan Shikai
democratic china is gonna so cool, praying there's a super indepth path
I really want a way to disable the AI from going certain paths
Like I don't want the EIC to buy 90% of the world when I'm trying to have a chill game
Literally if you have so much to complain about go make your own game/mod instead of sitting around complaining that someone else isn't meeting your own standards, that's all I'm gonna say.
-# yes I read through that entire conversation, it was really funnily entertaining
Well yeah mussolini did want to recreate the roman empire
And wouldnt it make more sense to create a new dynasty rather than claiming a millennium old dynasty
he’s not being as unreasonable compared to when he wanted tang
the fact is that even though it was pretty fringe, there were still revivalists for the ming dynasty, mainly since they saw them as better times and rejected a legacy of manchu rule
not if someone claims to be part of the zhu line to get credibility as a monarch
its honestly not as bad as wanting a taiping path
lets forget about the ming part
since there was a government recognised line
wanting to revive empire with no clear line of succession is objectively schizo
unless someone with actual power had an actual idea of that
yes there may have been an organisation to recreate something
but if they were pretty insignificant then they shouldnt have a path specifically dedicated to them
are we getting something today??
what makes you think that
pattern
today would be communist china stream or something else
hm
lemme know if chalk drops a teaser
considering we have anarchists who literally can core the world
and a new reich from argentina
thats not really much
i agree they shouldnt get a path but its not entirely without historical basis
bro they should add first world war
where is Kumul Khanate that we saw in the livestream
Its not a starting nation as it appears in the xinjiang war
Mongolia focus tree when
maybe friday we get something
probably never, unless they decide to exploit the B team into making a whole warlord rework dlc
Demobilization mechanics and doing nothing for 20 years and that WW1 combat is staring at stagnant frontlines for 3 years
Also they cant keep 1939 start date from being a mess, so adding another doesn't help
Also you would need new focus trees
you won't believe this, but there is a mod just for you in the steam workshop
I could have a lot of fun in interwar china
Nothing will ever happen
in case the entente wins, you have 20 years of nothing happening
Hoi4 is a ww2 game and that is that
in case the central powers win, it is over, the game content only provides they have lost
Eastern europe was a hot mess for a long time
Post-war
when is the new dlc releasing?
NCNS is releasing on November 20th.
hoi 4 remake update on new engine and a 3d globe when?
hoi 5 would be a nuke in the hearts of iron players hearts of iron
if it Dont have most features
but that Will be in 10 years
I have bad news for you, then
because considering the years the last paradox games have been releasing, we should be getting hoi5 around 2028-9
I was looking and jesus christ, CK3 is already 5+ years old 👴
Does anyone knows if they released anything about republic of China focus tree?
The recent one was about communist China and before that was Japan
Ok thanks
@hot stone argentayna
They provided the date legit like 10+ times now 😭

Tbh I just want to see how the faction rework effects Central Powers, Mitteleuropa, and other common alt history factions
it will probably stay to whatever the reich one is
Considering Trotsky faction will be different than Stalin. I’d assume the others will also differ
Mittleuropa might be containing communism, taking colonial territory and then building the navy
Meanwhile Central powers is just to retake what they lost
Nice to have more distinction there
Yeah like helping Austria take back it’s land
I wonder what factions will work like if you create one yourself
I think you’ll just be able to edit goals.
But the idea of alt history being more stable makes me happy
Just waiting for the dlc to come out so I can play it
The title screen looks better than what GOE’s is
This?
Yeah
Low bar
Wonder which one is the Filipino plane
Apparently there is a "try to spot the Filipino roundal" game to do with this one
Yeah I heard that too but didn’t see it. Have to get a higher quality screenshot
I cant recognize planes all that well so im not much help
its not that hard theres only a few planes which have the roundal visible
and half of them are japanese
Rounders aren’t super easy to identify sometimes since many can be circular with slight differences. So having an HD picture can help distinguish
Though Phillipines should be easy
you can narrow it down to 3 planes and though i dont know the roundal that should be enough for an aducated guess
I can clarify them for you all don't worry: They're || planes. Hope that helps. This is now supplementary text to make it seem like there's an actual answer here but I am doing a lil' trolling don't mind me||
The Filipino "round"el isn't round but diamond shaped lol
Idk if this is the same one they used in ww2 tho
28 MORE DAYS!!!
news today?
nah i dont think
Ah so the roundel is just the modern one
Is there a way to possibly get a higher definition version of the image? 😭
Would be funny if we couldn’t see it bc the streamer cam was in the way
This is what was used during ww2
Almost certain, the only instances of the 'new' roundle being used are on PAF P-51's after the war, 1947
tell the devs to make the philippines flag go to war mode would be a cool detail
i will love if they give us a possiblity to change it and no dlc, we can already see with dlc we have or not

Same
Indeed. The only particular ones I’ve seen that were “without the wings” on the roundle were on P-26 Peashooters
Wait that’s weird.
