Arguably will get a rework if they can hit coal centers and shut down someone’s economy
i will steal the worlds coal to shut down the global economy
Ngl civilian nuclear reactors should have a bigger impact
They were saying it would only get rid of like 15-25% of the coal needed in a state
Oh of the doctrines?
Yeah
Theyre already rlly good late game
15% more resources
Just arent attainable in a regular game
And definitely not large scale
as part of the naval rework (this is never going to happen but let me dream) I hope they allow you to build functioning naval forts (maybe when at higher levels of via special research?) that can attack enemy ships to make things like the Channel dash as Germany more tricky and to recreate the Blucher's fate at Drobak Sound.
it would nudge you to make slightly more historical choices like avoiding the aforementioned channel dash
initial pick is xp
afterward
seems to be a new system
so xp matters less now
if mastery is indepandant of it
That makes sense
Unless it interacts with HQ’s I guess
Man the guns in there is diabolical
Squeeze the
True evil 😂
Yeah, atleast change change it to another old DLC instead of that...
It’s honestly top tier rage bait at this point. I respect the hustle
(It’s free)
I assume you need to fight with the chosen unit type?
But idk
why is bonus song pack not discounted lmao
useless overpriced stuff for the sake of looking like a dlc
I already own all the bonus songs so that dlc top tier scam for me
cosmetic packs are a waste of everything
I like Infantry and Tank ones
Infantry need it the most tbh
wonder why new zealand aint getting a path in the secnd dlc Thunder at the gates
The next dlc better be a UK and Commonwealth update
Canada, South Africa, and NZ are all being left behind while Raj and Australia are getting new focus trees
id be 100% for that considering an irish tree but id say we'd likely end up with us uk quebec for some reason and cuba instead
And of course: Malaya
trinidad and tobago
Expansion pass 3 in a nutshell
€412 and a €1000 deposit for all future dlc
Yesss
why is the DLC´s rating mixed allready :D
The instant unlocks
The ship class that gets cosmetics but isn’t currently in game?
People are rating the pre-order or smth idk
no world conquests anymore if you're playing a ridiculous country
i agree with you something i thought be interesting especially countering shore bombardment or at least making it a little risker
it was released 4 months ago
usually it takes 1 year
to put the discount on it
Well it could be that they join the allies after pearl harbour
Which I think is fair enough
I mean they're civilian nuclear reactors
December 11th 1941
Because thats when Germany declared war on the USA
Quite possibly they were "in the Allies" before that due to the common enemy of Japan
A dumb move tbh because Germany went from 2 major powers too 3
True
I genuinely can't see the logic behind it
Even before then the USA was pro ally
Take pressure off Japan?
Hitler thought he was about to win
Yeah but USA is major power he won't get it for free in the peace conference
And Ribbentrop said we did it because why not basically
Checks out
But yeah it was really stupid
In hindsight, yeah
Though they never could have won anyway
At the time it looked very dire for all 3 major powers
Usa got smacked for first few months of Pacific war
Soviets only turned things around late 42
True but the USSR had most of its industries behind the urals, UK had most of the British empire and the US mainland was untouchable
Yes, although the soviets to all appearances were retreating and retreating and retreating
True
And tbh i can't remember how well the UK was doing in north Africa but probably not too great either
They lost Tobruk
Since el Alamein was in 42
And got pushed back to El Almein
So very much imaginable I guess for the Germans that soon they would break through and seize Egypt and the middle East
Australia also pulled most of its men from North Africa in 1942 btw
Because of Japan
And then the British started winning hmmmmmmm
As they were generally terrified of Japan invading them after Japanese carriers bombed Darwin in early 1942
Coincidence I think not
Yeah there was quite a long air battle over Darwin, for some months
Land based aircraft as well though
Also you forgot Singapore
Oh yes
It still makes me cringe thinking about it
Honestly most embarrassing British defeat ever
Yes
I'd agree
The worst part is they didn't even need to lose that badly
Not sure why in axis and allies Hong Kong is more important than Singapore
It could have gone soooooo much better
Never played, always wanted to
Its fun
But its not accurate (not that it has to be or should)
I always wanted the 1940 edition
I can't tell you how long I spent scrolling eBay for that
Unfortunately couldn't find it at less than 180 eur
Damn its that expensive now?
No totaler krig then
Yeah
Real shame because all the plastic pieces are unique
It's big and no longer in production I think
Based on real life molds of actual vehicles
1941 I've seen for like 20 eur
1941 is the worst
But I didn't want to settle for less
Its like the happy meal version as the community calls it
Which is best?
Size wise 1940
And gameplay wise?
Most balanced anniversary edition
Also super expensive sadly 😦
It has two scenarios that one
1941 and 1942
1942 being more fun
And all the containers are sorted
How is 1942 version?
Good
But if I had the time I would make a more historically accurate map for the game with new mechanics
Please do
And publish it
Would be amazing
Partisans would be annoying to deal with
They sap income from occupied territories
I would have core territores
Though this is going to be tricky
Might make the dominons one country
And I might have colonial occupation mechanics which means the territory only give half the income
Problem is I don’t want to make the game bloated with countries
And not quite as good a theme imo
I find ww2 more exciting
You've got to be kidding me
True
This isn't even bidding
Everything is so cheap in the us lol
I hope we get big Czechoslovakia focus tree like Hungary and Poland
For a second, I thought I was experiencing dementia. I see their faces and they seem pretty familiar, but when I look more closely, I can't tell if I know them or not.
😭
Don't scare me like that
Today’s dev diary will be about the doctrine btw guys
It will
Excitedd
Anyone have any thoughts on alt history Czechoslovakia? I dont know anything about their politics anytime in their nation’s history
Me neither but the monarchist branch sounds interesting
In reality a Czechoslovak monarchy was a short lived idea
Im not too excited for habsburg czecho since we already have so many habsburgs but i heard there were other monarchies Bohemia or moravia had before becoming part of the austrian empire
Oh. I was gonna look it up and google brought up the luxembourg monarchy ruling themm
If theres a possible luxembourg monarchy will that be the first in hoi4?
There’s a few noble families that could be possible candidates
Oh yes even more options
Most notably the schwarzenbergs and lobkowicz families the latter being of German descent
:o
The developers or rather modders could make use of that
Czechia coring germany
That would be fun
Bohemia was in the hre if I recall correctly, perhaps they should have access to the formable
Habsburg would be interesting
Since most of the population was opposed to the Habsburg
So I wonder if they decide to add it or not
Interestinggg
Maybe that momarchy needs to be dictatorship like to keep the people from revolting, maybe if any core is occupied it can lead to uprisings like in Italy, but it shouldnt become puppet to the invader, the new uprising or nation should stay in war with the invading nation
Yesss
Since the people were quite divided already im sure there will be many different ways to release and/or play as slovakia
I could imagine some random achievement like Bohemian Rhapsody(annex or occupy tanzania)(birthplace of freddie mercury)
Sounds like something paradox would do
Maybe an achievement for Slovakia called slovakoczechia
Oh nooo xD i dont like the look of that but i love the thought of it existing
Take all of Czechia as Slovakia
May be an easy achievement or task but id like to see a bohemian-hungarian empire
Maybe we get a new slavic formable?
I woild expect it from yugoslavia but we arent getting a rework on them just yet
What time do dev diaries come out normally?
I mean for me it usually comes out at 10 pm aedt
Oh goodness, if they start reworking all of the balkans we may get a lot more states 😅
Thanks
They better rework Yugoslav states so I get better greater Hungary borders
Ill be glad if they made the croation states at least broken in halves, they make bad borders
bro it is 2 days of non-stopping news about cs2, hoi4 and eu5
i'm in heaven😭 ❤️
dev diary when?
Today probably in 3-5 hours
thx
Arheo wanted to forget it too, don't worry
🤣
Unfortunately that is
Man the guns finally being free
Thats one dlc down that shouldve been base game
2 more to.go
What are the other two?
I’d assume la resistance and battle for the Bosporus
have no idea why the hell something 'should' be on the base game
say it's just good and all but why 'should be in the game'
no dev diary for you
oh well i'm sorry it will be published later my dear friend 🥺
Battle for the bosporus? Why would they add a country pack to the base game? I feel like no step back would be far more important to add due to how many mechanics it has
I’m only assuming
No roadmap to see when sre next dev diaries?
Or features they are going to talk deeply?
Well. that's certainly a big change
Nice, i was just watching that Blackadder episode.
Saw a short of it today, funnily enough
I saw the video they can delete it
How do you know
I love the black blackadder reference.
good god this dlc will bring tons of changes
factions, coal, doctrines, changes to navy
actuall peak
keep cooking devs
It looks fire
Ah ty
i think the next diary is on thursday
November 30th
I hope line artillery and motorized are more useful now
First is November 20
Second, I was referring to Japan dev diary
we need at least 2 diaries for japan, 2-3 for both chinas, 1 for philippines, 1 for navy, 1 for economy, 1 for factions, 1 for art, achievements, music, 1 for qol and minor changes
it's already 11 diaries but it's only 7 weeks before release
Sorry
so we gonna get 2 diaries per week
I was off by ten days
🎉
Generally they slipt historical dev diary and alt
please no😭
well maybe
it's still at least 9 diaries
Hmmmm
No
2 china 2 communist china 2 Philippines 2 Japan, 1 factions 1 coal implement 1 art and music stuff etc...
Why would prc need 2
Good catch
Chat
Do I have stuff for you
Potential lack of fuel/coal icon
potential faction upgrade icon
And best of all, Ranger Icon AND ranger stats in comparison to infantry Unit
who no 4k videos broooo 😭
Yes
when were they added?
What could this mean? Got any idea?
so as i understand that (english is not my first language so sometimes it's hard to understand the hell they try to say)
you choose your grand doctrine which are just the old doctrines
then you have 4 different subdoctrines for 4 types of units and you have to choose the 1 subdoctrine for each type
you gain mastery by using your divisions, i.e. when your infantry division is in battle you gain mastery for infantry subdoctrine
once you have enough mastery a next milestone is unlocked, giving you a bonuses
Oh well
am i wrong anywhere
Do we know when the next dev diary is?
Sometime around next week
oh
They're adding something similar to the vicky 3 powerbloc system to hoi4 factions
And I assume this icon means you have an upgrade available
Hey thats me!
gotcha!
oh alr
so they are gonna add a combat ranger battalion
Well yes that's what you're seeing here
There are ranger support companies right now
and next update they add ranger combat battalioons
alr nice
cant wait
@vast shore ill make like a Ranger regiment battalion company brigade div and corps
as Templates
Hell yeah
Okay, i managed to get past the mountains
NOW ITS THE DAMN RIVER
Yeah france joined the allies
i am done
Quickly, put your navies out and send troops to Africa
I kinda like it
More customization
Other than 4 doctrines
2 sub doctrines per doctrine
peoples army but you can also use tanks
Meta players are cowering in fear
So true
so what'll change with the rework
The new meta will be found in like a month..
Shhhh
Ill research it the day of release rahh
I was gonna do that
Make a google docs on every variant
Within the hour
Not even a say till will pass and YouTubers will be talking about the lack of exploits
Won’t nations like Germany be able to complete their sub doctrines way faster than democratic or non aligned nations
I liked the -0.7 reduced combat width for artillery that was shown.
Yes
So nothing changes lol
hope so
anything wrong?
Never mind lol I miss understood the doctrine changes
Will the faction rework release alongside the new dlc?
yes
and coal as well
What will the next diary be about
No idea
I'm afraid of how the AI will handle the new changes, will be dumber than now or better??
They haven’t said yet
It seems like diaries will be weekly though
.
considering the wait
it'll probably be way smarter
i wonder what'll happen when this update comes out...
will the community be mad or happy with the changes?
also
whats up with the new dev diary?
? wdym
Ah
Ok so they're changing how doctrines work
Now you'll have to pick a main doctrine and sub doctrines
The more combat you do (and I think theorists are being changed for this too), the more "mastery" you get, the more mastery you get, the more bonuses you get
The only one not being changed from this is the special forces doctrines
will this hurt the meta?
will this change mostly all of my strats?
It'll def shake it up a bunch
Well the first picture I showed was AI Germany with this new system
so u can pick different doctrines from different branches at the same time?
also... are there any plans to keep certain focus trees when a civil war starts? (like the german reich one if they manage to win?)
huh;... theyre prob gonna rework rangers
You'll pick one of the grand doctrines (mobile warfare, grand battle plan, mass assault, superior firepower) then you pick different sub doctrines for each of the other parts that give their own buffs as well
So you can do superior fire power with mounted infantry, mobile warfare with irregulars
No clue, this diary was just about the new doctrines
Oohhhhh ty
Np
so like i can have gbp with mass assault infantry?
Looks like it
Guys does anyone know why as Italy I’m not producing any fighters at all despite having many military factors assigned to it?
When I create new airwings I can only create CAS. CAS are still being made despite way less mills on them.
I only seem to be having this issue in the past couple days I pretty sure when I’ve played Italy previously this was never an issue.
I’ve tried creating different fighter variants and nothing works
might be a glitch
It seems like it, because I can’t think of any other reason why this is happening. It wasn’t happening in my previous Italy games, however it’s consistently happening now when I play as then. Like 3 games in a row.
just wait for a patch or play an older version
more like a day lol
it seems like normal doctrine
but u can have best of all world
so u can have moss morb inf
and gbp planning all at once
From what it looks like, all the overarching doctrine does is make specific types of subdoctrines cheaper: eg, Grand Battle Plan makes Irregulars and Great War Infantry cheaper to adopt
Maybe, maybe not. I doubt we’ll see as many universal buffs to planning, and more specialized buffs
Yeah but i mean properly worked out might be a bit longer
With the best ways to get mastery and stuff
EG: the infantry subdoctrines look like they’re split into eight specific routes: Motorized/Mechanized Infantry, Defense buffs, Large Unit buffs, Breakthrough buffs, Cavalry buffs, Small Unit buffs, terrain based buffs, and entrenchment buffs.
Honestly, I wish you could further customize your Subdoctrines with more doctrines (including some of the redundant ones) as a way to further buff the exact army you are using like for example using motorized or mechanized. However if there is like a subdoctine for cav, one for mech and one for moto, then I get it.
There’s one for cav and one for mech/moto
I’m more curious how the Artillery/Support and Armor subdoctrines will work.
Like, how will the Armor subdoctrines be divided? Will we see a Light/Medium/Heavy tank split, or will it be more based on Tank/TD/SPG lines?
Both?
Also, how will the Naval and Air doctrines be split?
yeah, I also wonder how the doctrines that emulate history like the previous wolfsbrigaden branch of mobile warfare, Which was meant mainly for Losing germany to be historical, will we maybe get some more country specific subdoctrines? Like a Kamikaze doctrine for Japan, a quick mass mobilization doctrine for USSR
Honestly, there are quite a lot of different tipes of tanks you can make, I don't think theyll make something like a flamethrower tank doctrine, so I guess it'll mostly be broad buffs that apply to everything
I can see four categories for Naval subdoctrines(capital units, screen units, submarines, and special forces/marines) and three for Air doctrines(Fighters, Bombers, and Special Forces/Paratroopers), but I have trouble picturing more than two subdoctrines for each category in both naval and air doctrines
Capital grand doctrie could have for massive battleships, Carriers, then probably some for submarines, destroyers and the rest, Just because the Grand doctrine focuses on massive ships doesn't mean that there won't be subdoctrines for smaller vessels. At least, that'S what I am assuming
No, you misunderstand
I’m talking about subdoctrine categories
Not overall grand doctrines
oh yeah sorry, but doesn't the game already have doctrine trees split into categories which are kinda getting translated into grand doctrines?
I figure the grand doctrines will just be the same categories we've already had
Yes, but the problem is that, especially if you look at the naval doctrines, a lot of the perks are repeated.
The way I see it is that, for the naval subdoctrine categories, you have Capital Ships, which can be either Battleships or Carriers, you have Screen Vessels, which is probably split between Convoy Escort and Fleet Protection, and Submarines, which is split between Commerce Raiding and Fleet Support.
Does anyone know if there's a schedule of the dates dev diaries are released on?
Seems to just be div spam
And rushing xp for doctrine picks
Looks like allies are cooked on xp imo
Do people really play competitive mult vanilla
Yes
Why?
They stated that there isn’t going to be a definitive schedule
But it will be around sometime next week
cool, thanks!
this looks very nice
China and Spain attache?
Also arent the Germans supposed to have an early advantage against allies anyways
you need mastery
Train divs for that sweet 10% mastery
ok but where do allies fight?
Also I think it mentioned attaches give it as well
Flanders
The Ardennes
The beaches of Dunkirk
North Africa
They might just need to weaken Axis a bit
Or buff Allied mastery gain
They already nerfed US generals
Yea
U no longer hold for cost reduction
So Germany having shit load of army xp
Is op
its based on combat
ger can do vols to japan
Is it
I thought if u just have stuff trained
U will have passive mastery
If that’s indeed the case
Bid farewell to mp lol😂
Everyone goes to war in 1936
Build mils day 1
yeah but only a bit
you get more from combat
Please make doctrines such as irregular / asymmetrical warfare more viable, would be so tuff
such as missed opportunity to not have defensive and offensive strategies and make it super in depth
Seems more like a slight makeover rather then a full rework but it still seems cool
Well, guerrilla tactics is already one of the stronger tactics in the game
Making it more readily available can be busted actually
Asymmetrical warfare is already the strongest doctrine
The only doctrine it lose to is gbp
Really
I foresee the art of 2w spam coming
3k 2w to get mastery
Or 3k empty 40w
doesnt work because uh
as far as i can tell your doctrine is based on the divs
so might work for like armored (maybe) or infantry (still big maybe) but something like large divisions mastery you need large divisions for
as far as i can tell so could be wrong
So empty 40w 😛
Tho that mean quite the xp
Mass mob inf
Sfp supports
Mwf tanks
GBP planning 🤩
Honestly I wish that they would make an armored car designer tbh
I would prefer a mechanised designer first imo
it's good when you know what are you doing
i got 1,7k hours on steam + at least 2k non-steam
and i suck 😭
whenever i try to design the good plane
even copying templates from tutorials
the ai is just so powerful
i can't outproduce the ai 😭
aren't planes always the same anyways?
and tanks take so much army xp
How do you mean?
Usually in early/mid game (speaking as germany) I never had a problem to get what I need in terms of army xp before the start of the war. It might be easier now with the new doctrine system coming to get enough xp for units and tank designs
minors
or democracies
or neutrals
that can't send volunteers suffer
2x or 3x hmg, engine 3, armor plate, self sealing fuel, extra fuel tank for fighters
and cas is just stack 2x small bomb bays + best engine and as many extra fuel as you can
I suppose it true that getting enough xp should be easier now
I mean if thats the meta ig…
But the beautiful thing I like is that you dont have to restrict yourself to the matter in order to win. Idk tho I dont play mp games, and when I do its usually for cooperative games
I wish they'd make more then 1 meta design
sadly MP doesn't give you much of a choice
Is there any talk about revising the specifications of heavy cruisers or naval combat as a whole?
Reason i dont play mp lmao
i mostly have played as Estonia
U don’t always need to do the meta in mp games?
I just do whatever looks cool to me
im gonna make NEW REAL LIFE templates for Infantry marines tanks etc
Huh? I thought that was kinda needed with sweaty tryhards?
My view on random mp games might be quite twisted
Matters with who
Ig
i mean even in sp u should do triple hmg
because air is a very straightforward better
the more ic and more efficiently u can throw at it u win
its not like tanks or inf where u can just use micro
bruh that is not a thing in a vanilla hoi4 for all nations
asymmetrical warfare is mass mob
heard of a tactic called guerilla warfare 😂
very potent
what do u think mass mob is about
Bruh it’s horde inf
not the whole doctrine is guerilla warfare
And why do u think countries use horde inf😭
Think deeply about which countries used it in ww2
yes but road 56 has its own doc for asymmetric
Mass mob is not that
I am talking bout an irregular doctrine
Massive hordes of shitty inf running at the line is not asymmetric warfare
ok i will reword
what do u think thge combat width reuction is about
human wave offensive and guerilla are all abou aymm warfare
and if u dont believe in that
theres an entire subdoctrine wholy focused on it too
do we know when The DLC is unlocked? or is still just in the Pre-order phase?
Yes I will reword
I an talking about irregulars
and looking at something similar to the asymmetric warfare doctrine in road to 56
being put in vanilla and being good
not the current mass mob
making milita units and irregular infantry good and more viable
The already second best infantry in the game?
Militias suck tho
Austria:
Just because afghanistan gets like +50% cav attack doesnt mean cav globally is that good
True
yes but not everyone gets good buffs for them
only Afghan and Ethiopia
Irregulars are good without buffs
But I do use the italian irregulars as port guards in SP
Lol
They only have 1.5 less hp per 2 width than mass mob inf
Mass mob is good in just being org walls
And can be combined with any doctrine
Slam your face into them and they can reinforce quickly
Actually might be per 1 width i forgot
Its pretty close anyway
And theyre also cheaper with terrain buffs
but you can’t make irregulars as chile or Germany etc
GBP gives raw stats for the offensive, mass mob gives raw stats for the defenses
it’s selective which sucks
That doesnt make them weak
yeah but it makes them more limited
Militia is also effected by infantry stats too I think
If everyone could make them youd see meta players use them quite a bit but also their org is lower so eh
I can’t use them on every nation for some reason and I can’t do asymmetric warfare in the Amazon etc
But last stand exists
You really dont need to be defending in SP
So mass mob isnt needed
play with player against the world mod as any minor nation
Youll have to defend
Mass mob is terrible in SP
I tried as paraguay and wasnt really able to push out </3
Only good for mp
You can battleplan and win
Tell that to my Poland game
Mass mob Poland defends insanely well and can push if you concentrate forces
Finland needs it
Same with GBP
No
GBP clears
Not nearly to the same level
In SP
I use gbp as main doctrine 😭 i'd know
Me who uses whatever doctrine the game starts me off with
Mobile Warfare? Sure, I'll play with it
Bur what if it starts you with none
I just kinda pick based on mood
why tf am i getting this event i never EVER got before
as france
and constantly aswell
I’ve never seen that
Its a mod
Rt56?
What if Paradox decided to make their own alternate world history DLC for an expansion pass, like they did with HOI2 back in the day
could be cool
looks like it
Can confirm
Yeah but a france mod was overlapping it
I never got this event in the past and the mods collided for some reason
im just trying to understand why since the mod order didnt change and they didnt get updated
When Will next Dev diary be?
Sometime between now and the dlc dropping
Yea i meant if It would be this or next week
I wonder if we will get the next dev diary tomorrow.
I’m thinking Tuesdays
After gta6
Defintely this month!
Surely we get something this month
We already got one Tuesday
Another one next week
Just no
Is Hirohito still gonna be the leader for Japan?
It would be odd if so since Italy has Mussolini as leader and the King as merely a modifier
And Hirohito was more of a constitutional monarch
I do think its oddly inconsistent who is chosen as the leader portrait for countries. Maybe something more consistent like simply making the head of state the leader for all countries would be better
He’s not going to be the starting leader
So all monarchies get the monarch as the leader portrait and if its not an absolute monarchy the prime minister or whatever could be second in command
And I assume if you continue in historical path you will just rotate through the prime ministers
But Hirohito will be able to become leader
It should depend
Like if the country was an absolute monarchy then the monarch should be head of state
Constitutional monarchs are still legally the head of state
King Charles is the HoS of the UK
Legally but they hold more of a ceremonial role
Yeah but where do you draw the line? Kaiserreich does this pretty well by just making every head of state the leader portrait
I’d say it depends
Some paths involve empowering or embracing a monarchy
Poland for example
In America the president is the head of state and head of government. In Britain the king is the head of state and the PM is the head of government
Also theres some weird paths like "democratic king" in italy? Whats going on there? Is the king the prime minister as well?
Constitutional monarchy’s like the uk and Scandinavia should keep the monarchs as spirits unless they go down empowering the monarchy
I think the only reason Hirohito is currently the leader of Japan and not the prime ministers is because there was a lot of prime ministers
Well I just think it can be difficult to define sometimes who is the most powerful person in a country whereas its much easier to say who is the head of state
I’m not trying to say who has more power
????
But generally constitutional monarchs should stay as spirits
Seems like thats your whole point
Why?
Seems like your idea is that the most powerful person in the country should be the leader portrait
Right?
let’s start over
Because that’s not what I was trying to say
Absolute monarchy’s like Bulgaria or Albania should have the monarch as leader
Constitutional monarchs should be spirits unless there is a path empowering the monarchy and becoming an absolute monarchy
So what's your criteria for whether someone is the leader of a country in game?
If they hold the executive power in the country then they should be the leader
Barring countries like Japan and Yugoslavia who are wrongly depicted
Yes
Was hirohito really a constitutional monarch tho
Constitutionally didnt he have absolute power
Japan had a weird ass government and showas role in it is probably the biggest indicator of that
Id argue that both head of state and head of government should be leader potraits when applicable and have their own modifiers
And in the ui for a country theres a button in the corner of the potrait that lets you see hog or hos if it happens to have those two positions held my separate people
It would allow for more flexibility in the way government is handled and would promote accuracy a lot
Especially since people like showa wielded huge cultural and political influence indirectly even without considering their actual government role that i dont think is fair to just shove into a line of spirits that have nowhere near the same influence on the core identity of a nation
well he definitely held more control then typical constituonal monarchs
somewhere between constitutional and semi constitutional
his role however was still largely ceremonial
but he was partly involved in politics
i honestly wouldve preferred if hirohito stayed as the leader ingame and have the prime ministers be unfirable advisors
no devdiary today? 🥺
Sometime next week
Maybe next Tuesday?

I really hope that the MIO's for Japan are unlocked from the start in the new DLC, also that they add Kawasaki as a plane MIO
hint devs
Mm same
when next diary
guys is this real??
100%
so exited
week 2 is pretty long 9 days
but its because we already got doctorine diary
they moved release just to tell us more about japanese congo 😭 🙏
Everyone focused too hard on the Japan-China conflict
Nobody considered the Japafrica project
Its saying factidson if you follow the image by letter
Its meant to say factions
I figured that out after trying to read it for the 10th time aha
You follow it by arrows
Yes and by "correct" letter order
Gonna miss old Hirohito
AIDS
questioning when the dev diary cycle will be shown, besides the one above
How did we get the one above? Did Paradox release it or something?
i think they did
Where did they release it?
69 million years ago when the earthquake hit the earth
When Götterdämmerung was getting it’s dev diaries
That was the release schedule for GDR, hence the Congo
Yha....
K bud
expansion pack is more expensive than the game 💔
yeah and?
i was hyped about the naval rework & the new japanese tree but the price puts me off
well naval rework is free as part of the update
and historical branch is also free
you also don't have to buy expansion pass
you can buy just 1 dlc once it released
so just 30$
many of us don't want to miss out on the new stuff so the expansion pack is the way
30 dollars is also too much
you can p*rate it
and then buy when you have money and dlc is on sale
i'm just gonna wait for an eventual sale of the expansion pack
My fomo could never
This will take until 2027 probably
It is already 20% off apparently
Im guessing a DLC by itself will cost $30 or something like that
I thought it was 20 USD?
People judging the dlc before its even out
👆
Should be a good DLC
Like try it before u call something bad
Doctrine changes and addition of coal will be huge
Im most excited for the faction rework
My Indonesian ass can't afford it
Same
Wonder how the split between allies and USA will function
I do hope they change the allies colour
Not a fan of neon toothpaste?
No.
I feel like it was just to show them off better in the video. Doubt it’s the real color 😭
If they’re gonna go for a blue, do like a dark blue
Something like this would be better i think
Real
Agreed. Then when it transitions to NATO, dark blue
That’s similar to USA tbh
True. Potentially the nato blue suggestion works better
They might change it if people are wanting it and aren’t liking the last minute announcement
It better, my wallet was crying
Isn't that UN Blue?
Or is it less neon
Okay. The UN is a lot less neon
Btw the US should be like a dark blue
It would look really nice instead of bright blue
That is similar yes
But the UN is way less color
🇺🇳
Tbh NATO makes more sense
But it isnt NATO yet
Nor is it the UN
Or whatever the hell that neon toothpaste is
It was actually
It was called the united nations officially
I just looked it up to see if they had some official colour
In 1945 💀
And read a bit
No like from 1941
The official name of the allies was the united nations
More like 1945, this is the widely accepted year for the UN starting.
again, thats different
The UN organization like the LoN is different from the allies who dubbed themselves 'the united nations'
Its why we call them the allies nowadays so theres not that level of confusion
Can you link me research that proves this 1941 start date for the UN? The League of Nations existed till 1946 until it was absorbed by the UN. And the UN itself was founded 1945.
The UNs own website says 1945 where are you getting 1941 😭
Do you guys not understand 😭
The Declaration of the United Nations was however 1942
I never said the UN was founded then
That was the collective name of the "allies" at the time
Based on what i read for like a minute on wikipedia
That doesnt equal to the UN as we know it now being founded then
But rather just being a different name for the "allies"
That they went by
Yet I did and you kept arguing against it. 💀
Then it would just be the allies lol. And the UN doesn’t function the same way the allies did nor NATO. And considering the allies can already turn into NATO in game it makes sense to transition into that still
????
Im gonna have a stroke
Ok nvm got a year wrong
The Allies, formally referred to as the United Nations from 1942, were an international military coalition formed during World War II (1939–1945) to oppose the Axis powers. Its principal members were the "Big Four"[1] – the United Kingdom, United States, Soviet Union, and China.
They were formally referred to as the united nations
Thats not the same institution as today
The institution of today was founded in 1945
Other factions also went by different names. Though it’s not really relevant to the name of the Allies and its transition into NATO in game imo.
Even so, UN color is preferable to the neon toothpaste
they were called the united nations
thats why the 4 original permanent members of the un were the four major allies (usa, uk, ussr, roc)
Was their color the same as 1945’s UN?
i didnt even know the un had a flag
im not sure if the old one did
Yeah their flag is huge especially for peacekeepers
Isn’t it the one with the azimuthal equidistant projection of the world map
With the things to either side
anyways i think usa should be some brighter blue
and france a bit darker
with the really dark blue being reserved for either eu or nato
this particular time period is always such a pain for this sort of thing tho
literally every major power / alliance has red as a major color
Republican spain had like purple.. At least in their flag
i dont really consider spain as a major anything
i was mostly talking about germany, ussr, and japan
and allies as well to an extent but their blue is more prevelant imo
The UN had this flag from 1943 to 1948
Part of me is suspicious that this is a US flag on its side 😂
Wonder if white would be a plausible color for the allies faction
The us prolly came up with it so it wouldn’t be surprising
My thought too. Though I don’t like this as it diminishes the efforts of everyone else 😌
It’s Americentrism most likely
As an American I’d prefer less Americentrism tbh
fair
It was made by Brooks B Harding (yes he was an American) to represent the 4 major Allied powers
4 powers represented in 2 colors whose pattern is a segment of the US flag
Seems lazy lol
my country hasn’t had sinocentrism since the 19th century 😭
Which country?
China
Though in many respects it warrants it
sinocentrism was a way many dynasties gained legitimacy with the all-under-Heaven thing
It’ll be interesting to see if they incorporate it in a Qing path in the dlc
Like the tributary system?
Would this allow Qing china to gain new cores?
the tributary system was not exactly like a puppet system
it was more of a way for the tributaries to show how china was the most dominant civilisation
and i dont see why a qing path would need anymore cores other then its historic lands
I could see how they could turn into a puppet system
Im not in the loop. Can someone please tell me when is next dev corner/diaries?
So it's gonna be like part of the puppet system
if they decide to go that route
next dev diary is sometime next week
Thank you
that sounds good to me
because itll be similar enough to the existing sytem
system*
this is what i saw in the hoi4 lan live stream
i have reason to suspect this is not the finished result of the manchukuo tree
either that or this is a mod
which it might be
Or its the wip of the manchuko tree
Oh wait you already said that mb
No wait
I think Manchuko went down the historical path, so we don’t see the alt history stuff as it got locked out @hollow coral
could be one of the branches
Thats what I think atm
but some of the gfx dont look paradox made so it might just be the mod they are using
True
looks very unpolished to be official, ik that during development they only make the “skeleton” of the tree but they atleast do some icons
Anything that comes out of reddit is idiotic and should be ignored
I’m not sure how much content the Qing are getting
Seems to be equivalent to a Warlord now
Is it just me or does it not have the dice and gun focus from the forum?
I hope they add at least something
Seems like you can separate with Japan with a non Puyi path. Tbh I liked the Qing the most out of all the chinas so knowing it wasn’t getting a full rework was sad. But they said they are adding some things
At least the mods will be good for it ig
I didn’t really see any coal or the new faction system. Or doctrines. Map was weird too. Seems modded
disappointing
but at least someone could make a mod for it
Is the game still playable for you, even if you know that there will be new, better content soon? 🤔

what kinda question is that
Do we know the dev diary times
I like vannila hoi
they said that times won’t be provided
its a mod
Yes I am aware
They did say “updated to fit the newer content”
Probably just expanding upon the current paths and giving them an industry and military tree
To what extent remains in question 😭
Definitely less then what Hungary got
Some people might complain enough depending on the size and paradox might listen and fix it but that’s only a dream
I hope they dont waste their opportunity with manchuria they could do some cool stuff with it
1 month and 16 days untill dlc
next devdiary when?
so exited for what we dont know yet
next week for sure with roadmap of diaries
Where did u get this ?
lol they claimed that was the dlc lmao
Wonder what will come next week
Not sure, but I am quite confident that the Manchuria was using TFB
i hope post ww2 china will look like this in the new dlc on historical
Here is your "DLC" Manchuria content
lol
People had enough of sub manchuria
I this real?
No, it is TFB
Someone said that it was DLC, and I went to show them it was modded
damn
No father is insane
Pretty sure that’s a mod
Again, they’ve shown focuses from the Manchurian content
saddening
got a question for hoi4 devs, when will the expansion pass 2 get a sale on it?
Guarantee they’ll never give a direct answer. Estimate next year, probably Q3-Q4
damn...
Like this expansions content goes until Q2 2026, so Q3 2026 is the earliest a sale will be
oh wait that manchukuo tree is a mod, because i've seen some youtubers like dankus and tommykay use similar map to that
Yes I already realised it was a mod
Well, I hope that with the new Manchuria the new Chinese Empire can rises better
Yeah, it is TFB mod
Anyone got clues for when the next dev diary drops
And when Commie China will get its diary
they're usually every tuesday
so 2d
what
2 days
don't believe so
Ah bummer
I would expect more in depth look at either Japan or China
I guess
if I were a betting man
I wanna see what they cookin for Nationalist China
and I'd like to see changes to the warlords too
if they do it wrong just by nature of hoi4 ai it could really screw with the Sino-Japanese War
since apparently Shandong is its own warlord now
like literally the only reason Egypt isn't a starting tag is cus it messed with the AI re North Africa Campaign
Same but they did say they just give them a touch up
I expect like 3 focuses lol
that aside
Im more interested in the CCP then the KMT because
They hinted at Guerilla Warfare
soviet partisans could also be improved with that system i hope, messing with supply depots behind enemy lines or reducing trains
Whats tfb
Their Finest Bruh
wtflip is that
The Bokoen Mod
can we change the unit equipment requirements
like to make infantry battalion use 1500 manpower instead of 1000
say yes
say yes
say yes
Competitive multiplayer mod
No
