A fun/not-so-realistic path is perfectly acceptable, but basic respect should be paid to history. Just on the point about the Silk Road empire, the Silk Road has barely anything to do with India; adding it to Xinjiang makes a lot more sense than India. Also, single cores in places that are currently being disputed (Tibet) are not a good idea; either add two or don't add them at all.

Also, from a consistency standpoint, might this be a bit too inconsistent with the rest of the game? I just don't see a path comparable to this in any other country.

It's a weird one. There are a bunch of issues here, some we probably caused ourselves (yeah, the Silk Road formable will be changed) but others - including the main point displayed above - are quite alarming from a creative point of view.

A lot of this anger is drawn from a false comparison: why should X get something when Y doesn't. And that just.. isn't the way we develop games. We don't sit and ask ourselves if some content is fair or not, we develop regionally, and if something fits the narrative we're trying to produce then we don't balance it against the effect it might have on an unrelated region's audience.

I too agree that the Chinese content is starting to get a bit old, and likely needs updates. That is, and should remain unrelated to what we're doing now. There's valid criticism out there on the Indian content, but largely the messages such as those displayed in OP are not them. I don't for a moment believe that this represents the entire Chinese community (and talking about any community in terms of a homogenous actor is dangerous), but any derived interest groups attempting to drive development priorities your way through abuse, review bombing and threats is a dangerous paradigm for fairly obvious reasons.

I believe you get a unique occupation law that, based on the WIP screenshots, is implied to give you a flat bonus to factories and resources from those states in addition to what you get from state compliance

Thereby making it so you somehow get more than if you were to just core the state

But it's silly to think that'll be in the final build, so coring is still the better option I think
