#latest-updates
1 messages · Page 42 of 1
is there a rollback for the latest war effort update?? currently in the middle of a long game i would like to continue
highly unlikely, you have to restart
If the dev diaries start in October, any wagers on when we'll get the actual DLC?
Yeah okay I take that back.
DAMN
this is why i prefer playing CK2: no more random updates
sorry boss, i understand your pain
it is annoying to do, they do rollbacks , like every 5 updates or so
Thanks, might just start rolling back to the last update before i start any new save to be safe
T-72
correct if im wrong
now after you said that i figured it looks like ai generated
new dlc when
tomorrow
Lore accurate communist china omg
Even without a Soviet invasion, this shi made me happy.
China rlly needs an update oml
Yeah, content's pretty old, the allegiance of all the different warlords isn't even taken into account, the list goes on.
Ik people are asking for seperate focuses for the warlords but there is not much information about them to make a focus tree that is up to standard
Maybe they should also have a focus to reform the beiyang government
Yeah, just showing their allegiance like in RT56 would be nice.
Also china rlly doesnt have any alt his focuses
Like to support the blue shirt society
Or to work with japan
Like for example during the Chinese Civil War, make the warlords loyal to the nationalists have the option to become a satellite nation and fight against the communists under the nationalist banner with some degree of autonomy.
Or china could pressure the warlords to annex them
Yea
Which is lore accurate
Because the current subjugate warlords is rng fest
Also I hate it when the warlords join japan in alt his
The warlords are supposed to be unrecognised
Diplomacy just needs to be reworked though.
Yeh especially guarentees
For example, I don't see why I should lose political power as France if I sent an attache to China and Mengjiang out of all nations sends a diplomatic protest.
Like, bro, I don't even consider your existance.
You should just lose a lot of opinion to that country
Yeah.
The League of Nations should really just be implemented.
The recognising of nations as well.
Like when i was playing kingdom of norway i need a lot of war support to continue but i always keep losing pp from the attache
Yeh some countries should have unrecognised national spirit so they wuld be less likely to get guarenteed or join a faction
True, it makes no sense that the UK guarantees the independence of some random-ass state in Siberia or something like that.
I just hate it when uk guarentees latvia and i have to fight the entire allies including usa
Same, but at least imo I think that it's a bit goofy that the usual strat as a minor nation is "do as many early conquests as you can before the UK and France start guaranteeing shit"
Yeh
I mean in real life most nations took advantage of the fact that the major powers of the world were duking it out to make their own conquests.
Also if you justify on a territory you should be able to negotiate peace if you capture that territory
True, or just allow for a surrender favouring the defender if thrown into a defensive war.
I'm sick of seeing Romania having to take over all of the Soviet Union because the Union attacked it.
Like for example, if the attacking side suffers lots of casualties and isn't able to break the defensive line of the defensive side, then the defensive side should be to sue for peace with additional conditions.
Such as demilitarising the border or paying war reparations.
There rlly isnt any use for demilitarisation accept for the achievement
Yeah, demilitarised zones should be implemented like that for example. A good example of them being implemented in a scripted peace is in the Italo-Turkish War for the Levant in TNO.
If Turkey fails to take the Levant from Italy it will have to demilitarise the border areas around Aleppo and Damascus.
Or maybe you can demand land if you have a lot of army
I also dont see why you cant give land to someone
Instead its occupied states
If you have cores on land and another country has cores on you kand if you want to give one province back than you have to give all the land back
Speaking of which, why does the Chinese Civil War always end up with total war?
You know what, I'm going to give Paradox the benefit of the doubt as in this scenario it makes more sense for it to be like this but still.
Communist china never wins the civil war
Going to intervene and hoping it doesn't, can China even peace out with the Soviets?
Idk
When i was plsying manchukuo china got guarenteed by germany so had to fight the whole central powers
And i lost
Because its just me vs the whole central powers
Germany always gets too powerful in games
Major main character syndrome
Yeah, Germany's rework really needs to make it more difficult to play.
You will almost never feel the true crippling manpower and fuel shortages Germany experienced throughout the war.
Unless you getting tanked by the whole world
It should be like italy
Yeah, like slightly stronger as Germany's economy was stronger Italy's but still having to fix up some issues such as the aforementioned manpower shortages.
They killed off a lot of potential manpower
And got rid of a lot of talented individuals as well.
They could have a “service guarantees citizenship” type deal and then just happened to have them as the frontline
In some media they have to enlist children
You can bet how that turned out
Chak
What's ur favorite country on Europe continent
On hoi4
U like Canada but
If u had to play at europe
Who would that be
Is there even a chance any info on the next dlc might be revealed before october 3rd? 😔
there is a chance to be patient
Let the devs cook
Also October 3rd gives us a lot of clues
- Reunification of Germany after the Cold War
- First British nuclear test
- Prince Maximilian von Baden appointed Chancellor, which leads to the Kaiser's abdication
- May-Johnson Bill introduced to Congress, the bill never passed but it was created to keep atomic research a secret
what does it do in-game?
Idk
i checked
its left-over from 2016
It may change to "Substance addict" which gives a -2 to all combat skills, similar to "Recently promoted" and "Recently demoted".
Unfortunate
hey thats not very nice, i only take a bit of meth
and i take care of them i would never abuse them🥰

1 has the most potential…
Would be interesting to see post-war content as a way to expand
I do not have a 'favourite' so to speak, but I've done quite a bit of Italy and denmark playthrough's
I like to go Fascist Denmark and take over the Nordics, and As Italy I quite enjoy the Ethiopia conflict and the different ways you can resolve it
I've also done Communist France a Bunch but I am not very good at France
and so those playthroughs have remained quite short-lived lol
Did you do greater Denmark
Coring northern Germany
nah, I tend to ally with Germany when doing Denmark games
Lol
You actually can make germany not declare war on u
Mostly non aggression part and higher relations works for AI
To not declare war on u
I am aware, but I still like to ally with them, because I like the challenge of fighting the Allies
I'm not a good/great player but a challenge is fun
Ohh
Stinky collaborator, go do the independence path.
Also when is the independence path going to have Germany declare war on you and not have you declare war on Germany, invoking the tripartite pact and making it an offensive war
hello yalls
id like to see a hoi4 modding tutorial on how to make new Units and templates
like from the official hoi4 yt channel i mean
Also
Chak
Do u think there shall be a
Axis speech pack
Mussolini
Painter
Oswald Mosley
They can't even have the portraits in some countries
You think they would allow speeches?
I mean we have stalin's speech
Which is evil and even more evil than the evils I mentioned
Well countries are fine with allowing one evil dictator
And started invading everyone
imma just say to not continue listing the things they did there, jon + arda
Ok
but as far as I am aware, we are not planning on it
Alr
Random thing, thx for making Brazil not declare war
For the conference focus
It was clearly you and not a developer
Also thanks to the developers for fixing bulgaria @pseudo wing
Finally I won't have civil wars when soviets randomly declare war on me

I mean, I am a dev in technicality, but not someone who knows how to code, correct
I like to think of myself as one, at least considering I contribute to the games through input both of the community and my own
But yes, it was totally me ofc, I am making sure everyone goes to Brazil
You are the link between the coders and the community and have to wade through the mess of the community for good ideas and such lol
I think there's always a kernel of good in ideas, even if they'd never work
Maybe could be speeches from other countries, like from the Spanish Civil War, the Chinese-Japanese War, or from countries in Scandinavia, Eastern-Europe, Latin-America, India, or the Arabic Countries.
Horstorical is that like … EAW mod?
EAW best mod
Each bigger dlc of hoi4 would introduce a new system to the game. What do u think will be next? I feel that it could be infantry equipment editor since it's the easiest to implement.
It’s going to be proper atomic bombs.
More Espionage….
Useful in Resistance groups all round
And could be useful in post game
Right now, atomic bombs, as they currently are are just strategic bombs.
Atomic smomic… espionage is the content gold
First of all, they can’t completely destroy a division, they barely do any damage to state infrastructure and population and they are also cheap as hell to produce.
would love to see but it feels more of a patch to an existing mechanic, a bigger dlc often will add a series of new features with a new gui or something, like the market, the spy, or the new manufacturer series thing
although the game is already much more complicated compared to the original version lol
The atomic bomb IS going to get reworked. The teaser showed one and it also had a quote from Werner Heisenberg, the leader of the German nuclear weapons program, encrypted in morse code (and an enigma if I can recall correctly).
Well atomic bombs will probably be made harder to attain.
They’ll probably no longer just be something you can obtain and use as Tannu Tuva.
You’ll most likely have to invest both economic and political power into having an atomic bomb.
😮
I’m also really hoping they add atomic tests. I’d really like to see the Trinity Test for example. No matter what nation you are playing as, the game will pause and your map will get moved to Los Alamos where you’ll see the American atomic test succeed.
Adding onto this do some sort of nuke rework where the first country to build a nuke could choose where to test it and name the test (like a faction name)
Cause if its non historical and the us doesn’t exist whats gonna happen then
Use Nuke ~ awaken Godzilla
Can someone join me in a chat quick so I can screen share and ask wtf I'm doing wrong?
cause I'm fairly certain I'm doing everything right to launch a naval invasion, but it won't launch
naval supremacy?
absolute
I think it's 100%
got 400 naval bombers plus patroling subs
it's also local so radar is providing intel
Yeah but at least it's funny
max tech and have convoys
I think I ended up figuring it out, it looked like the canadians invaded and took it somehow while I was preparing
When will we get a German focus tree rework? It’s kinda boring compared to the newer ones. I love the Scandinavian ones in AAT.
be ready for october 3rd dev diaries
Paradox my wallet is ready for more Focus tree DLC’s 😂
so anyway i started blasting paying
I hope Germany rework comes with a better civil war
Most probably
Yugoslavia should get something similar to the polish exile tree where tito or another faction liberates yugoslavia
While that sounds cool, in reality there seems to be no way to have a partisan uprising in Yugoslavia work well
Because IRL Germany was just playing Whac-A-Mole against Tito, in the game you have to either insanely buff the Yugoslavs, or run the risk of them being defeated quite easily, neither that fun
i play as poland
It may be not mega fun but i think there could a partisan uprising like the serbia vs imro war in kaiserreich where it's alot of decisions and ≈25% of fight (english is not my first language so i don't know how to propelly explain, if someone know the serbia vs imro war in kaiserreich it could help)
I’m hoping that Czechoslovakia gets included in new dlc
Germany Austria Belgium Czechoslovakia Luxembourg (possibly Hungary since you can’t separate Austria-Hungary duo)
I think hungary is gonna be in it cause if austria gets one then they prob get a extension to their existing tree for the other new focues etc
True
But it prob be like they did with paraguay or uruguay not sure anymore cause one of those two where hidden in the dlc
do we know why we did not get dev diary?
even thou they insisted one is coming?
or no, they will just show some bullshit tomorow...
sadge
i expected something intresting today
We get one on 3rd of october well that is what we got told
I could be wrong though
New update, still no fixing the broken focuses because we paid PDX money for DLCs
This galaxy brain strategy of releasing new content that doesn't naturally work with DLCs, or making DLCs that breaks the game because no one bothered to check how the interactions work.
Yeah, people who keep asking or get mad about it not being sooner have to calm down a bit lol
they’re doing a germany rework?
Yeah in the teaser on yt its pretty obivous thats its gonna be reworked and we get a dev diary on the 3rd of october
German espionage end game???
Rework ??? ( finlly ) pls rework japan too :D
Well that would be awesome but i think germany will get it first and then japan will prob also be reworked
Which would be really cool for both theatres
wha...
Well, the game isn't broken. You just didn't adapt
What are you talking about?
I mean broken as in "does not work" not "wahhh i dont want to learn new things"
The context clues are all there in the sentence.
Short version: BBA breaks a lot of focuses that have to do with air
in mods you mean?
in vanilla they fixed most of this immediately
Ah, my brain finally decided to read interactions correctly
No, several focuses still lack updates to have BBA related changes. Japan great example. Others like Yugoslavia get literally their same exact current production '36 aircraft, but with an extra set of machine guns. Or engine 2. I forget which, but it's literally a dead focus cause it's deep down, where as non-bba it gives you a 2 year ahead bonus.
i guess he means how a lot of focusses still say „naval bomber“ instead of medium & small aircraft
I'm not worried about the semantics because the bonuses are all still there. What does bother me is how the Zero focus can't be bypassed even if you already have a better aircraft because the game checks for the non-bba CV fighter 2 tech.
Which is why I said, we paid PDX for DLCs and got broken focuses for our trouble.
I had the impression it wasnt that bad, although I never play vanilla I had assumed that issue being absent for R56 meant it must be absent there
I do agree there is a problem. There just needs to be a no dlc version and dlc version of the focus. Treaty with USSR for example is different depending on DLC

Also forever in the waiting room for the exclusivity to be removed from Japan's naval tree.
kinda true
Funny US advanced medium bombers in 1941 or 42
Yeah, I always found that dumb
Also all MIOs need to be unlocked by default
I think they changed some to be add size instead of unlocked
thats a balancing issue it most, not a game issue
Think they recently did that to some countries
yeah they did
i think it would be cooler tho if paradox used their time actually balancing/reworking all the broken af game mechanics
The only MIOs that should be locked are the joint MIOs from another country
so we dont need rulesets that ban 69billion things
like imagine if paradox fixed logi striking and strat bombing
or always engage subs
or straits
or the 68 billion 999 million 999996 other things that make vanilla mp unplayable ._.
Am I the only one who has no issues with sub cheese
you may be the only one here who doesnt play mp yes
I figured out that mess years ago, even put it in my naval guide
cool story
What are the problems with these
Too strong or something?
logi strike is too strong, strat bombing railways and refs is too
basically refs instaexplode
and take ages to repair
this sounds like skill issue
do you just not have interception or aa?
when if ref bombing is allowed axis lose air war in the first 5 days
does refs get reduction from dispersed?
shush person with 0 experience
probably not
wouldnt even matter tho
seems like you never got logi striked / strat bombed
agency planning disruption is also one of the unplayable-makers
this guy hasnt even played mp so he cant know
so you're telling me you don't spread your industry naturally, don't build aa, and don't set up defensive air wings with built up air bases so even if those get bombed you don't lose air efficiency.
usa can stack strat bombers in britain and focus all of them in one zone
your refs still explode in the first week
I like the idea of leveling peoples industry
then when you move fighters halts strike
literally who even are you
someone who plays mp
imagine if paradox removed force attack stacking
would be such an easy fix…
didn't realize that qualifies you to shit on people for giving you solutions to your own shortcomings
it sounds like youre someone who hates rules that stops you from early warring and hyper cheesing a game
i hate rules that make the game unwinnable for one side yes
i've yet to play an mp game that is unwinnable for any side
except through incompetence
you also have yet to play an mp game
what mods have you played
tfb and i played 56 years ago, i forget what other extra mods here and there were mixed in
so two distinctly non-vanilla mods
I prefer vanilla
less issues
you asked what mods ive played not what i prefer playing
so, buzz off with your loaded question
I play modded for having less issues

i play modded for not having a game last 10 hours
Mod’s tend to be slower though?
only alt hist mods
for hist mods the main purpose is to increase game performance
at least vanilla-hist mods
Or to just represent history better lol
dont know about that 👀
but yeah thats the main reason i dont play alt hist
cuz the mods are always so freaking slow
HOI4 vanilla historical feels like historical as of late
rly?
Yeah, I just feel like the Allie’s will randomly get involved in things
Like countries will randomly choose sides late war
Think they should just have historical be historical. Then have some like inbetween with historical off that let’s that happen
But in my experience never had mods make the game run better
im talking about mp in case u missed that
Does the HOI4 chat really need that level of intensity 💀
I am too in terms of performance
then u havent played the right mods
like elwolf is already probably twice as fast as vanilla
Have tried quite a few. For me vanilla tends to run fine with my friends.
Have done elwolf, slowed my friends down
Idk if their machines just couldn’t keep up with mine or what
I just don't like ego
funny same here
wild
Feel like it’s moreso social ineptitude than ego honestly. They come across as very argumentative but it’s probably just because they truly believe they’re right and lack the tact to relay that in a way that acknowledges others preferences while pushing their own. Wouldn’t get worked up over it honestly, it’s just the nature of gamers sometimes lol.
But same prefer vanilla. Less buggy

Wdym?
I play Vanilla hoi4 because it'd generally more enjoyable and polished than mods
Same. Generally more balanced too
Fr
R56 is alright but feels like a step down
ND sometimes Kaiserreich feels too on-rails
And uh TNO/TWR are both amazing
But no war really happens
nothing to do: more balanced
Must be talking about TNO.
There's alot to do in Vanilla
TNO might as well be a manga
but hoi4 is more based on war
Hakf of hou4 is sending millions to die over a single state
so that mods are boring
Fr
How do you usually play? I find there are lots of things to do in vanilla.
Most countries have like 3-6 paths, and you can go further by deciding which people to ally/invade. Adding extreme variability on how to play
true for latest dlc, south america (nobody plays other than americans)
Still had a decent bit of variety to it imo
I liked the end goals of that DLC though. Wish more countries could take over continents
um
lazy design
did they post the new stuff?
While it wasn’t super relevant to a WW2 game I thought it was fun
or is is still forgotten?
Oct 3rd my guy
wait a month or i'm dum?
What about it? Like Army/Navy trees were lazy. But the actual focus paths were cool. Mapuche Chile, German Argentina, Communist/Democratic Brazil
In a month yes
coring entire continent is lazy design
most of these countries hate eachother
they are not even ethnically same
The same could be said for the Roman Empire, HRE, Great Britain, European Union lol
And can things only exist if they have in the past? Things cannot form?
Hispanic identity is more united than the Roman Empire ever could be again
me uniting world is more likely than south american unification
I disagree, I believe one strong central government who labels the US as their opposition as a means of unification could accomplish that. Imagine going from poverty to prosperity and supplanting your main oppressor
Empires have been built on less
south america is usa's backyard
Exactly why most of the South American unification trees end in opposing the US
It’s unity through an independence war.
how many countries support maduro?
Again, same argument can be made for 99% of formables in HOI4 yet they exist
Ethiopia is quite hard to accomplish though, and time intensive
Like you have to help countries rebel then you integrate
I think the South American ones should just be harder. Like Spanish countries should easily core Spanish ones and Portuguese the portuguese
yes it takes until 1960 to accomplish that
But integrating the other/rivals should be harder
probably nobody in paradox play tested that
I mean South Africa can puppet all of Africa relatively quickly
I think Chile probably has the best trees out of South America
Like the most plausible apart from French/Native paths
But the fact that the one only cores former Spanish empire makes sense
idk how many more low effort dlcs you need to consume to call something lazy
what yall talking about
Irl?
That DLC wasn’t even made by paradox 😂
World is too diversified across races and religions, and their own inner struggles to team up
Was legit just to tie us over between major DLC
Nah he’s just trying to say how impossible the South American unity trees are. When I argue the game already has impossible formables so I don’t care
wym no hecking wholesome independence war against usa?
They are impossible
like irl i wouldnt believe that would happen
thats crazy
i dont like other schizoid formables either
Especially central america
Yes just as Rome, Byzantium, Romanov’s are etc
they are NOT teaming up
idk the focuses
Did the Roman Empire “Team up” and sing songs with their neighbors? No, it went to war and conquered them
im just saying
Only one that’s like that is Democratic Brazil no?
Like 3/4 of the South American trees involve conquest
Kinda similar to Germany gobbling Europe on historical
Real
Okay, so play historical? 💀
I personally like the flavor they add. Adds replayability
i dont like paradox adding schizo dlcs to grab money and please 12 yo kids from x nation
last dlc will be a galactic empire for albania
It’s a World War game though. Why wouldn’t they add them?
Swear some people treat it like it’s Napoleonic wars V2. 😂
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=830323030 that’s this one
💡
You have heard of historical… what about antihistorical, where everyone does the opposite
Well the HOI4 community often thinks only Europe should be updated. Wish North Africa and The Pacific were more fleshed out
They’re more like ww1 locations
African /Arabian theater during ww1 & pacific theater during ww1 are 🔥
Asian and Pacific theatre of World War I consisted of various military engagements that took place on the Asian continent and on Pacific islands. They include naval battles, the Allied conquest of German colonial possessions in the Pacific Ocean and China, an anti-Russian rebellion in Russian Turkestan and an Ottoman-supported rebellion in Briti...
I feel like for the Pacfic War to get any real traction we'd need the islands to be more than one tile.
And likewise change ships to have more base range.
Also there's issues like this. https://gyazo.com/7f63da0ed0a939a8d3c8de2d42efadeb
Awkwardly having one obtuse polygon of "I can't reach that" within an entire sea zone that is accessible.
https://gyazo.com/b3c1986a02d89ede0f0a738534a1b5d2
This is your T3 cruiser base range, and T4 DD can't even come close to it. DDs need their range increased to at least 2000km base range and increase at the same rate as cruisers (500km). T4 DD has the same range as T1 cruiser. Which is kind of silly.
Which seems entirely possible tbh
I'm not so sure. That would probably require an overhaul of the sea zones and the map itself in a way that really wouldn't be feasible.
Hoi4 always felt 'small' to me
With really awkward scaling
Interesting.
I mean they managed to make other islands have multiple tiles in the Scandinavian DLC as well as the South American one.
Plus Southeast Asia was a big part of the pacific, not just the island hopping in the more northern pacific
North Africa and Southeast Asia easily could have dedicated DLC’s
Probably the next Big DLC packs.
Country packs*
Will we have Heart of iron 5 after all the country in hoi4 have their own forus-tree
By adding dlc
interesting indeed
next update is actually introducing dlcs for the dlcs (real not fake6
They already did that tho 😂
They have to add like oilers or something to extend navy range
I remember a video talking about the future of HOI4 and discussing this issue. Cities for example tend to be way too small. I mean could you imagine how cool it’d be if major cities were scattered across with tons of urban tiles to be able to represent suburbs and the cities’ actual sizes. For example a Battle of Stalingrad where the Germans are on a bunch of urban tiles on one side of the Volga, occupying part of Stalingrad, while the Soviets are on the other, still in Stalingrad.
i saw that too
Absolutely, I’d also like to see some more historical and semi-historical alt-history paths. When Trial of Allegiance was first announced I was super excited to finally see South America get some content. Needless to say I was pretty disappointed to see literally every alt-history path be some schizo Kaiserredux type shi. I ain’t got an issue with having a few of them but it’s just oversaturated to the point where it feels like Paradox just took the Wikipedia pages of Brazil, Argentina and Chile during WWII for the historical paths and the rest was just “dominate South America as a literal child or as some French guy.”
that is frustrating that most the paths are just conquer the whole continent. but i can see why that is the most common thing they did
i wish they wouldnt put wargoals in political paths. it could be like russias historical path where theres a political path but also foreign influence
like italy
Eh, I’d still like to see some semi-historical alt-history paths where you’re more focused on internal politics. It just feels to me that internal politics and foreign diplomacy are way too simple in-game.
true. i feel like all internal affairs is just stability
but the game is based around war
But oh well, that’s just what sells. Nobody likes the US Congress mechanic because it forces you to actually deal with internal politics and not just take over the world so I guess Paradox also took the smart choice in terms of what makes more money.
only few countries such as mexico have very interesting internal affairs
i barely play us lol
Yeah but that kind of defeats the whole point of a “grand strategy war game”
grand strategy as in take over the world is kind of stupid to me
It just feels like the game is, micro your army, navy if you have one and absolutely need it, and airforce
airforce is just rlly confusing to organise to me
it would be cool if there was airforce captains
like admirals
Yeah the air war really needs a bit of an overhaul.
For example, it has always been weird to me that you can just bomb allied countries into the dust with no consequences.
for a while i didnt even see the buttons to do missions cuz it was just out of my common field of vision
idk why they put it in the top left
I don’t know about you, but I don’t think the Luxembourgish, Belgian and Dutch governments would be too happy if I was strat bombing their infrastructure to death as France simply because the Germans occupied their countries.
me nuking the benelux because they were occupied by germany👀
looks like the belgians dont care that i nuked their territory
I wouldn't go that far. That would mean we'd need like, convoys to go into mtg designers to give us the various aux ships.
I would like transports to be large or medium airframes though, and have options for making special ones
But no, the current naval ranges just don't make any sense. Same for the plane ranges. The scaling range for planes is ridiculous. It should start around 800km at least.
Maybe 700km, but honestly it's all down to range and scaling being really awkward.
Based on current land borders germany is ~725km east to west and ~1000km north to south.
the us congress mechanic is also much easier then it would be irl
no consideration of ideology
no compromise
no actual elections that effect stuff
I don’t usually play the US so correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t 90% of the US Congress mechanic just building a mil wherever some random ass senator offers you support?
It's that and using pp for "lobbying"
It has no consideration for the senator's or house members' ideology
someone who is very against spending will oppose the new deal practically no matter what
and in real life much of it was blocked by congress
or had to be changed so they would let it pass
but in game you just use some pp, wait 40 days and boom, a bunch of senators now back you on anything
or a random house member speaks and gets a bunch to support or oppose you
Im playing the US in Kaiserredux
Im having a blast
No random congressional stuff
Just me fighting Japan like irl
My plan to defeat Japan is to take Indonesia
Then push up and take the Philippines which are allied with them

You can jump straight onto the mainland unless its outside naval reach
NAS coal
Is U571 in hoi4?
U-571 is a 2000 submarine film directed by Jonathan Mostow from a screenplay he co-wrote with Sam Montgomery and David Ayer. The film stars Matthew McConaughey, Bill Paxton, Harvey Keitel, Jon Bon Jovi, Jake Weber and Matthew Settle. The film follows a World War II German submarine boarded by American submariners to capture her Enigma cipher ma...
you can just name a really good submarine U-571
Frankish empire expansion for france when cause if the European union is a formable nation in the game then it should be be fair for that aswell right?
That would anger german nationalists who play this game though
no it wouldnt lol
Why would it anger them? germany got like one op formable nation which i wont say cause idk if its allowed by the rules but lets just say it has something to do with the funny mustache man so i would say its fair that france gets something for alt-hist enjoyers like myself
Cause lets be real the napoleon path aint that interesting
I mean in terms of submarine warfare
It’d be fun to play as Rogue Soviet submarine captain
Buff submarines
germany's only formable (from a decision) that actually gives any cores is the hre
the one you're referring to just changes the name and colour 😔
but you're right still
Oh yeah forgot about the HRE but i really hope that you can Form it as austria in the new dlc cause that would make more sense
Germany should really form the EU through focuses while Austria the HRE.
They can form it if you go the democratic path as germany i already tested that the only weird thing is on why germany can form the HRE
Oh wait
nvm through focues yeah your right i got a bit confused there
Yeah similar to Brazil’s new United States of South America tree
Like invite, integrate, core
And ideally all European states not the few atm
Yeah
Always bothered me Iberia, the Balkans, Baltics and Scandinavia couldn’t be cored
Would also be good to get a decision or focus for belgium which lets you unite the entire benelux in one entity
Same
amazing idea
I feel Belgium will have that and an African colonization tree
are you a socialist
Yeah cause rn i think only those three countries in europe which still got the generic tree is luxembourg, belgium and austria so i would say in the new dlc will be like this: germany is getting reworked with some new focuses then the other three get a tree
How does uniting Europe under democracy equate to socialism. 💀
Weird question
Yeah always bothered me how Belgium and Austria got nothing. Like Austria could be the first driving force to nerf Germany in alt history
Fr like imagine you get a focus on which you can deny the anschluss but you need to have a certain manpower on the field or you go the HRE path as them and just conquer them entirely
Like Austria refuses, has similar war to Ethiopia and if Germany fails the war H man gets toppled by military to get Democratic/Monarchy path, or by SS to get Communist/Nzi path
I feel like this new dlc will have a commie path for germany and some new ones for the mustache man
Would be cool
Really looking forward to a German tree with NSB quality
Fr if they to it like NSB then it will give a fresh wind for germany as a whole
Like Germany with gradual upgrades to its ground, air and sea forces would be so nice
Genuinely though democratic Germany needs an EU path
I mean they have been working on this all year
The South American DLC wasn’t even paradox, so they’ve been completely focused on this
Well the south american dlc was alright even if it wasnt paradox
Not good but also not bad
It’s in a much better state now that it’s been nerfed
Yeah
Well i hope paradox makes a good job like they did with NSB cause if they do then all that is missing is some trees in asia and for the middle east as a bonus
Would like something similar for most continents
Agreed
Curious to see what hidden path they add tbh
Yeah well ig we will see
Lowkey has to add content to every major for the Superweapons though
Yeah like give them a seperate focus which is mainly on superweapons (Nukes etc)
Has to be tailored for each one imo, can’t be a copy and paste like TOA military trees
Because they genuinely all did it differently
Yeah
And the “Hire German/Italian scientists” decision has to buff nuke research speed
I really hope that we get the valkyrie focus aswell cause lets say germany loses then you can focus that like romania with king michaels coup
Like they did try it in irl
Agreed
And its a 50/50 chance so it can also fail
Should be a thing where you can boost its chances
ToA was made in house
Swear trial of allegiance was contracted a bit?
Yeah like in the decisions tab where it says "operation valkyrie" and there are some options
It was not
Heck I’ve been misinformed 😂
Thanks for correcting me
It was one of the most fun DLC I’ve played in a while though. Liked it more than the Scandinavian one despite the backlash
Ngl i never understood on why they hated TOA
No problem, its probably that it was a second team, but it is still just part of the Hoi team
That probably was it yeah
I think most deemed the region irrelevant I guess? HOI4 players tend to get salty if the DLC isn’t European. Plus it was super OP on launch
i liked it :3
Expectations mostly. Some people want mechanics and expected it, despite it never being sold
And value proposition
Yeah but tbh no one at paradox forced them to buy it like its their own free will if they want it or not
I legit had zero gripes with it and played all the trees within like a couple days
Well i have alot of fun with it
Aren’t consumers great?
Past 30 dlc they’ve been like “Update Germany when”
They are lol well tbh its always been this way
Most people who like stuff never leave a good review, but people who hate stuff leave a bad one. Its just how it is :p
What mechanic would even be sold with a South American dlc? 💀
Like a rework to the puppet/resource rights mechanic maybe?
I got the mindset once a dlc comes out i got the urge to buy it on day one change my mind
I see HOI4 dlc, I buy it. 😂
Fr
Idk, I think it could be clearer that q mechanic dlc isn't impacted by a content dlc. Some people seemed to think it's either or, but it isn't really.
It's just addition. Some people questioned why SA as well, and that's fair, but there's reason why it was picked. It is also a good testbed for stuff
Arheos thoughts pretty much sums it up
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/developer-diary/reception-thoughts-patch-1-14-2-checksum-fbf7.1630169/
Cant wait for the game which paradox makes but i forgot the name from it
Something with cesar i think
Ah yeah, it's project Caesar
Yeah that i think from the name alone it prob will set in the ancient times with rome right?
I can't tell 🤫
But people have guessed based on screenshot borders
I think any region is good in a world war game. Like granted maybe some regions should come first but the world is fair game
Imperator Rome V2 😂
Roman Civil War would be neat
Imperator rome wasnt that bad tbh well for me it wasnt
I loved it up until it got axed 😔
2.0 was a very big improvement, well from 1.0 all the way to 2.0. the team that worked in it really deserves the praise they got. It's almost a different game
Loved cycling out governors and generals to ensure loyalty and limit influence
If the Pacific or North Africa ever gets reworked I hope general skills/heroes do too
I had a rome univeralis feeling with imperator rome just with some new mechanics and graphics
Funny you mention Arheos explanation. I was one of the few to read all dev diaries and their replies 😂 The player base went too far on the backlash imo. Herd mentality
I have a feeling that germany will get some new inf morphs like the soviets have cause some of em have backpacks now so i think the germans will get something familiar
I don't think it's one point that made people annoyed, but prolly several compounding factors like the area, lack of mechanics, macro-economic and regional pricing etc
A lot of what developers can't really affect, the only thing that we didn't catch (except bugs but that's always there) was some balancing issues
People always try to find something to complain about thats something which wont change in the future
+20% & +8% attack for Argentina 😂
Argentina basically was the God Emperor during the Unification wars with it’s buffs
The one problem with this is probably germany
They saw nuclear stuff as jewish magic
just make it the entire navy system at this point
Literally would have never got the bomb until a german city got nuked
Wasnt germany super close in building the first nuke before the scientists switched sites like italy on a monday?
Cause i think i read somewhere about that
Factions need to be updated
At most, they were researching nuclear reactors
But they actually needed uranium
The V-2 (which I think you’re talking about) was a long-range ballistic missile meant to be used as retaliation for allied bombings
Which wasn't exactly widely present in germany
And by that, I mean that there are no uranium mines there
As a german citizen, it's very sad we don't have uranium-else I could consume a more efficient meal of 10 million calories
Nope i read somewhere that they where close but then again if its only the reactors then yeah but ik about the V2's wherent some of em in france so that they could hit britain or where those something else? i cant remember
Multi faction wars
All about efficiency over there isn’t it?
But y'know
Uranium would be a great, very efficient meal
We need more diplomacy options like state trading if you got a good reputation with said country
Which reminds me diplomacy in game
One gram of uranium-235, the most commonly used isotope for nuclear power, can release about 8.22 × 1010 joules (~20 billion calories) of energy when it undergoes complete fission
Guarantee’s need to be reworked
20 billion calories!
This is how we solve world hunger
Efficient money saving solution!
Let them eat uranium
what about say the medical bills
Nah britain only walks through the world with the guarantees in hand and says "Your getting guaranteed and your guaranteed"
Like there should be certain requirements to guarantee nations
Like high relations and stuff
Yeah cause it doesnt make sense that britain guarantees a nation on the other side of the world for no reason
Britain guaranteeing Argentina makes no sense
or any other nation
Because Argentina hates Britain
Falklands is one of the hate points against the brits
Like a nation should have the option to refuse a guarantee
Also we should have limited wars
You mean like a option with we accept or decline the guarantee?
Yeah
as a event?
Yes
Sounds better then the current version tbh
Example Poland accepts UK and France guarantee
Speaking of UK they should be reworked eventually as well
Yeah ig paradox will rework germany then japan and the asian continent then prob the brits with the us
Communist UK should spread communism and release the colonies as communist puppets rather than completely decolonize
Also their should be economic alliances like in Kaiserredux
What would they do? didnt play much kaiserredux
Give research and consumer goods bonuses is my idea
Along with construction bonuses
I see yeah that sounds also good
UK and the Dominions would start out in one in 1936
Would make investing in the dominions more interesting as well
I hope that we got some more reichskommissariats like moskowien or something different
I hope communists and monarchist nations get unique puppets
Because they share the same type of puppets
Monarchies should have like royal oversight or something
thing is
there is no monarchist ideology
just non-aligned
True
Communists should have reeducated vassal or something
Still, splitting non-aligned into monarchism, anarchism and despotism/military government(ism) doesn't sound too bad in a possible ideology rework
Imagine the depth of this you got like four new ideologies and each of them can get power through decisions or if you use the minister which represents the said ideology
Like they only need to switch out some guys and boom done
me waking up as a(n) (ideology fan) in a year because my government hired an advisor, flipped and banned other ideologies
Lmao so true or the goverment just says "Alright this is boring now lets go anarchism"
"Breaking news! china decided that communism is now not hype anymore thats why they will switch to democracy for a year then after it gets boring to a different ideology"
dlc info soon...
Only 27 more days
what if world tension significantly decreases once a major war ends
that makes sense in my opinion
it would
it does happen
but beacuse countries take states wt increases
not significantly enough then
I meant like if a bunch of tension caused by the losing side of the war was undone maybe
not sure how that would be implemented
it shows on top of the screen how wt will change
either that or a "post war" debuff
next time look at that before annexing
gee ok
I hope there’s a decentralize path for Germany with shared tree for all releasable states.
Truthfully it would make sense for napoleonic France decentralization of Germany focus, and for a German Confederation + HRE path
Hmmm
I just wish Germany had the option to be decentralized at the start tbh
Like what you can do to most other majors
yes
true it would be awesome
Only one question: who are you playing as?
the tdebug on corner 😭
Observe
But how the helol did this happen
When will there be a new dlc?
eventually. Sometime near the end of this year
But we dont know about what nations or rumors something?
The Slattery Report, officially titled The Problem of Alaskan Development, was produced by the United States Department of the Interior under President Franklin D. Roosevelt's secretary Harold L. Ickes in 1939–40. It was named after Undersecretary of the Interior Harry A. Slattery. The report, which dealt with Alaskan development through immigra...
thaat reminds me off the battle royale mod when you release every nation
well i turned on some cheats (nocb, instant_wargoal, focus.autocomplete, focus.nochecks turned the resistance 500% faster etc) and just let thte game play for a few hours
Staring at the construction screen is surely fun
dang
actually really intresting to watch. if a nation gets to op i just start a civilwar and raise some resistance in some colonies. really wierd stuff sometimes happens there
Why is it fun in other games
Is it?
Also just saying, consumer goods would have to be high
Due to post war inflation and such
And also people demand their consumer goods
It works in vic3,
(If vic3 was 1812-1912 it wouldn’t be much a problem… but Vic 3 skips over WW1)
Vic 3 goes to 1936 basically.
Also the construction menu there is wacky, I don't get it
@pseudo wing chak
have u played germany as vanilla kaiserreich
if u did how did it go
Because Vic 3 is an economy sim that focuses on construction and other ways to boost your GDP
Hoi4 is a war sim that has a really simple construction menu and no real economy system
please do not ping me on the weekends, I don't work for Paradox on the weekends I am working my 2nd job
as for your question, though, I have not played Kaiserreich so couldn't say anything regardless haha, it's not my thing. They put a lot of work into it, though.
your going to get banned
🙏
Nah you should be able to do that lol. Wasn’t a moderation question even, just like asking about how they’ve played.
ok
Wish you could schedule turn notifications off for specific channels though. Like have it auto turn off on weekends
Bc I wouldn’t want to feel on the clock either
I don’t think Paradox can or ever will have realistic causalities. Starts to get dodgy in relation to topics they’ve set out to leave out and avoid.
Stellaris is one thing but can’t really in HOI4
🤔 HoI4 + citybuilder?
This “capital city” would be kinda like estates, etc. and would show buildings and stuff that would benefit country.
A hospital, war memorial, etc.
No need to be sorry, I am just reminding you since its really hard to track down one ping when I get like 200+ a day lmao
Now you're combining Hoi4 and City Skylines
is it like a total war style city development or do you actually build the city?
Like this… but more modern
Maybe multiple cities… like as the US… you get NYC, Chicago, etc.
let the war game stay a war game
To be fair, I understand what you are getting at, but each Paradox game has it's niche, it is counter productive to expand into another IP's niche and pretty much cannibalizes their audiences
HOI is the textbook war sim, moving units, unit composition strats etc
If you wanna build cities, you go to City Skylines, if you want econ, vicky. I can understand wanting specific time periods but if we don't have it in-house, we're more than willing to redirect to cool mod projects that showcase said time period/theme
This kind of building you are showing here is more Milennia's style, though I can understand not wanting the combat of that game. This kind of building in a game is moreso suited to a game that is turn-based, not like HOI/Vicky/CK where once you press play everything begins happening
edit: mispellings
This is literally from CK3
CK is the one brand where this can work, though I disagree with it personally
simply because it is RP oriented rather than a full-blown strategy type sim
Here’s one that someone used for a vic3 mod
you think there will be a HOI 5 anytime soon?
No
Probably not until the early 2030’s at the earliest
nuclear weapons & possibly Germany?
Oh good, ty
Nothing is confirmed.
The only things we know is that its somehow Nuclear bomb related.
And probably science, since the trailer message is literally a science related quote from a scientist, cant remember which one tho.
Well, nuclear bomb and enigma machine is pretty scientific too.
On one hand, Im hoping for a complete research rework, on the other it probably wont happen, or that drasticly that Im hoping for.
Since there is a community icon pack, making it obselete just few month since its release is pretty wild.
The research part of it
..oh.
I was in cryosleep for 3 weeks now and there is finally some dlc news.
Even better.
A promise of dlc news.
Back to cryopod I go.
Espionage overhaul with resistance groups etc.
roads to power? Sheesh can't wait any longer for the new start date
Would just rather more city occupation news messages than an I depth city planner like that. Feel like that would actually detract from the game
I mean that’s what is going on now though? They made together for victory, death or dishonor, and the other one free so they could rework it lol.
We still dont know if devs are going to rework things related to those dlc
Werner Heisenberg, and the Quote is "What we observe is not nature itself, but nature exposed to our method of questioning."
Werner Heisenberg
You know, the lead scientist of the Uranprojekt
hopefully they tie nuclear research ability to economic capability since it doesn't make a lot of sense for countries like nepal or liberia to develop nukes by 1948
they will probably add a unimportant boring mechanic like this
Should add stuff other than nukes
true, but it would add to the realism (and it would stop my troops from getting nuked because i forgot to cover an airzone against some random country)
Microwave weapons for example
realism has left the room since they started making meme formables
Imagine if a bomb didn’t get built and they just put a block of radioactive material in the center of town. How long until Japan figured it out
also producing nukes are hard enough
I mean to be honest it left waaayy before that but yeah
1 reactor takes 365 days to produce one
Would the Demon Core be able to explode?
Like if the tickling of the dragon tail wasn’t stopped… the whole place would…
Answer: No. the demon core was not enriched/compressed enough? to cause detonation.
More like Chernobyl possibly. Fire… lots of radiation, but no explosion
Anyone who speaks Portuguese to help?
a german one, and the castle looks germanic, so...
Austria I guess? 😂
Future things I want to see:
• Reworked resistance groups. Code breaking minigame, trading spies, all countries get resistance groups the countries still keep going doing their stuff, while resistance group is acting.
(Focus: Middle East)
• Rogue Actor… let’s say you’re in a submarine and want to fire a nuke at the US/USSR. Or maybe you’re a lone actor looking to sell weapons to both sides. “Pirates” (Focus: Antarctica & Islands, Navy rework.)
•devastation mechanic… demobilization and rebuilding
What about Belgium, Albania, etc.?
Belgium/Albania are part of the large resistance group dlc. As they had famous resistance groups…
and Bhutan, Nepal, Siam, Central America, Middle East? And what do you mean by 'lone actor'? Also, not all countries would have resistance groups.
Can these ppl just do dev diaries already bruh
They will start 3rd of Octover
I know

At least we know when they is coming
Rip
All countries…. allowing historic or nonhistoric play.
If you were taken over by Japan in nonhistoric game, you would have the ability to fight them as resistance group. Or even play as communist agitating groups in the USA
Japan needs rework so it feels satisfying kicking their ass once more
German pirates…
china also
yeah fs japan was literally never touched
worst country rn
Waking the Tiger DLC in 2018
now part of base game
Japan in 2016 game release was much worse than the one we have now
ok but that's like 6 years ago
and I think they only added alt hist focus paths right
i agree, heavily outdated
China is fine bro wdym
They need to make it so japan doesn't always die in mp
old af
legit needs a rework after having the small tree
It would be cool if the warlords had unique trees ig
Death or Dishonor and Together for Victory nations have trash focuses
or sinkiang with turkic chinese empire
they can
they can core all of China and form Turkestan
I feel like sinkiang should have the option to split off from the rest of china since they aren't Chinese
And they could have the focuses to prepare for a war to unite the turks
what Sinkiang needs is local leader that is not Sheng Shicai
its bizarre that he of all people can form Turkestan
Why is that
because he is Stalinist ethnic chinese that massacred and persecuted Uyghurs and their rebellions?
sounds like current day china
Oh ☠️
China isn't stalinist...
But the rest is true
yeah they're doing everything except being stalinist lol
apple doesnt fall far from the tree to be honest
Stalinist, Maoist, Leninist
Isn't a huge difference tbh
same fockin thing - Arthur Shelby
I feel like the reorganised nationalist china should spawn during the sino Japanese war
Since they did make that during the war
Long Yun is the best warlord and contester to rule China btw
i still wonder why it isn't in the game unless you puppet china
Long yun seems like a stand up guy
out of the options in HoI4 and irl
Long Yun is the least terrible warlord/leader of China
and he didnt even do any crimes or weird shi
His portrait in hoi4 looks like he's animated
That's saying something since there were a lot of warlords
instead he was labeled "Democratic King of Yunnan" by the people
Yunnan is so shit in the game when irl it was actually one of the most modernized parts of the country thanks to him
Guangxi should be nerfed of its resources
Li Zongren was a nutjob
Ma Bufang massacred Uyghurs and Tibetans
Yan Xishan was the queen of fencesitters, he created "ideology" that has all of the elements of liberalism, nazism, communism, monarchism and etc etc.
☠️☠️
What did li zongren do
he wanted to ban all forms of music
and persecute those who did not comply
he was sorta ok general for Chinese standarts, but thats not saying much
Chiang was a grade-A arshole too
he is not entirely different from Mao in terms of killing people
well, who else is left?
Prince De is just collaborator, and not even Chinese and cant core China
average dude with backing of Japanese thinking he could be the great monarch that could restore the legacy of its ancestor, Genghis Khan
not very interesting character
so here you go folks, Warlord Era in 1936 in nutshell for you 😄
He probably would have installed democracy after though
Very interesting actually
Thanks
he wasnt a benevolent dictator, like Mustafa Kemal, mind you
he was just a dictator, he only cared about ultimate power
my pleasure 😄
Didn't he say "if I die and I have made china a democracy, I will live in every home in china, but if I die and I am still a dictator, I will be in hell with all dictators"
Something like that
Not exactly what he said but it means the same thing
knowing him, it wasnt sincere
in fact he would greatly enjoy Americans backing his regime
(They didn't)
of course, did we expect smth else? 😅
No
I just feel like chiang was misunderstood
He did kill a lot of people on purpose mind you
And he was kind of a dumbass
He shouldn't have caused the yellow river floods
well, i would say he is a total dumbass
he had it all and still made bad moves
he had the most potential of uniting China but he failed at it miserably
Maybe if someone more smart came to power we could have had a kuomintang china
he couldnt even finish the job he started and crush already exhausted and low morale Maoists
and he killed loooots of people for that
Maybe if someone like Wang jingwei cane to power
Long Yun is the best man for the job honestly
he was a great general and solid statesman, could work it all out
he didnt even need to be dictator, people would still choose him
But he got stuck in yunnan sadly
politically yes, but he was one of the most active generals in Sino-Japanese War
dude was fighting relentlessly since 1937 and to 1945
not to mention the civil war that comes after
He actually seems like the goat
Communists spared him, surprisingly
since he was opposed to Chiang and people really liked him
Maoists didnt risk to finish him off
they needed local support anyways, so they kept him alive
he was a governor, did few reforms after the war and died of old age
they did the same thing with Puyi although nobody cared about his ass
Mao was actually kinda smart for an evil dude
he took example from what Bolsheviks of Russia did, and instead opted for the last emperor of China to just go to prison and be a gardener in some random village
That was actually smart
I heard that he came out a communist but idk if that's true
he still believed one day people will ""come to their senses"" and restore him to throne
much like what Japanese "promised" him by "giving" him Manchukuo
That was just delusional lmao
i wouldnt say so, surprisingly
i am anti-imperialist but there were actually good monarchs that cared about their people
but of course there were lots of bad ones than good ones
The bad ones are just more notorious
unfortunately
where, if you dont mind me askint
Where I'm from?
Northern ireland
Catholic school so pretty anti monarchist
Are you a Ulster unionist by any chance
or you wish to be united with the mainland 🇮🇪 ?
United of course
Don't even say ulster bro
Ulster is a province in Ireland that includes the occupied North and 3 other counties
oh i didnt mean any ill by it
just curious on this topic
There's not much to it tbh
you meant like Northern part of 🇮🇪
or the Northern Ireland in 🇬🇧
