Yes u need naval dominance and sometimes air superiority. I usually put patrol in ocean tiles of the naval invasion and f2 mode for air i put on the ocean tiles air supremacy mission. The red green bar on army indivates progress. Once its fully green and u have enough naval dominance u cam naval invade. U need to click green arrow so it naval invaded also

If u have 2nd transports tech or higher i like to put like at max 12 divs on a port city, and then 6 divs to the tiles next to them, so thats 24 divs total in invasion so 1 army. But beware if template is trash then they might encircle u before u can push them. Also close air support helps

When I just was building industry and not really paying attention the Germans capitulated, the soviets attacked allies and were absolutely destroyed creating a Russian federation, Ukraine and Belarus were freed china took half of russia, then the fourth Reich was formed while being in the allies but led by hilter then the Chinese declared war on allies and capitulated and while they were doing all that I tried to have at least one gun in stockpile bit failed and still am reinforcing

But yeah, what's worked for me is having 2 naval invasions ready to go via the same sea tile. I make sure they are relatively close by and aimed at a port. Then, you can select normal armies, move them to a dock on mainland UK, then move them to the French dock you naval invaded
