assault infantry is not that good with mechanized and motorized since it only gives 10% soft attack, but it does give 30% breakthrough, it is the second best doctrine though
if i were using mechanized divisions on a small nation i would use individual excellence, 20% soft attack, 20% breakthrough, and especially 5 hp would reduce manpower losses

Basically since the German divisions have a bit more org than is typical for their HP, they suffer more casualties than typical every time they run out of org. This results in quick pushes initially but then the German army strength whittles down, and then since their org remains high they keep attacking even with little strength

The German divisions are probably better than the Soviet ones, it's just that they keep running themselves into having like 1/4 strength

they're also being incredibly stupid and not closing in a massive encirclement they have, the only tile they need to take is being held by 2 divisions with no supply, and Hungary has 2 armored divisions just staring at them
