Organization is how much damage a division can take before being forced to retreat. If there is nowhere to retreat, division dies
Soft attack is the attack value against a division with 0% hardness, likewise Hard attack is the attack value against a division with 100% hardness

Defense mitigates enemy attack when the enemy is attacking you
Breakthrough mitigates enemy attack when the enemy is defending (mitigate means that attack is cut from a 0.4 chance to 0.1)

If a division has more piercing than the enemy has armor then they get 1d6 organization rolls, but if they don't they get 1d4 organization rolls, with progressively less damage as it decreases

So you want a balance between these stats

Also combat width is an important one: This is how much space the division takes in battle, and each tile has a certain amount of combat width assigned to it. It can fit in 33% more, but you will suffer penalties to all stats if you do, so be cognizant of combat width when designing divisions

I believe it’s still gotten via the 2nd tier of naval invasion research, they allow you to land with a temporary harbor anywhere, so you don’t have to take a port immediately

Downside though is they are easily destroyed if you don’t maintain areal superiority, but even then they can be a lifesaver
