I typically tend to do my grinds mostly in a line by BR so I have an even and balanced team for arcade/realistic matches, though it's a bit more iffy if you're grinding air rb

my starter premium was galer's F3F-2, so good i basically forgot about grinding the reserve navy biplane at all

I also grinded for the war thunder mobile sherman, picking up the mobile japanese boat on the way, like i'd actually play navy

Dispelling the Rumours that Line Artillery is Bad:

I tested two different divisions templates: first template is 18 inf second template is 10 inf, 5 art. Both templates have engineering company, support artillery, support anti-air, cavalry recon detachment, and logistics company. I am using 1940 tech for both

Here are the relevant stats:
18 inf template:

Soft Attack: 222.9
Defense: 635.8
Breakthrough: 109.9
Production Cost: 1486```

10 inf 5 art:
```Organization: 33.7
Soft Attack: 346.3
Defense: 453.2
Breakthrough: 108.4
Production Cost: 1502```

Calculations (from hoi4 wiki):
```hours in combat = ceil(org / org damage per hour)
org damage per hour = num hits * 3.5 * 0.9 * 0.053 = 0.16695 * num hits
num hits = 0.1 * min(num attacks, num defenses) + if(num attacks > num defenses, 0.4 * (num attacks - num defenses), 0)
num attacks = round(number of attackers * total attack/10)
num defenses = round(number of defenders * total defense/10)```

With this info, we can calculate how many of each division is required to successfully attack the other. I'll spare you the maths and give you the answer:
It takes at least **1.59 divisions of 10 inf 5 art to successfully attack 1 division 18 inf**; And it takes at least **2.07 divisions of 18 inf to successfully attack 1 division of 10 inf 5 art**.

We can calculate the combat effectiveness of 10 inf 5 art over 18 inf via the geometric mean:
```Eff = sqrt(2.07/1.59) = 1.14```
You can think of this as 'I would need 14% fewer 10 inf 5 art than 18inf'

Now compare that to the IC difference: 1502 / 1486 = 1.013.
