yeah you should use patrol for that now, i think you are meant to have screens patrolling, destroyers mainly and everything else on strike force

but what i do is i split my navy into 2 big taskforces, have them both patrol for naval supremacy

no subs obviously

i basically never use strikeforce

The way it works now is that strike force just supports patrol missions. Basically, put 1 task force on patrol and another on strikes force, that way the strike force will provide naval dominance in the regions a patrol mission is active
