In singleplayer, you only need soft attack
Without the tank designer, the only way to get soft attack stats is through SPGs, light SPGs have basically the same stats as mediums but with less cost and less terrain penalities. The 3 medium tanks are there for the breakthrough stat. 400 is all you need in singleplayer
