yeah, basically. what you can do is add one at a time and hover over the "save" button and it'll tell you the equipment requirement changes. early on, when you only have a handful of battalions, it'll be like hundreds of guns and thousands of manpower gained back per additional cav, but eventually it'll be like 5 guns and 100 manpower. technically, it should always be a gain of some kind when you add more, but eventually it just isnt worth it for the xp it costs

idk that armored cars are ever really worth it for suppression, imo. they do have 3.7 suppression vs cav's 3 (this might be with additional modifiers, not the base value) but it's WAY more expensive, because cav just needs guns and support eq. unless you're already using armored cars somewhere

I do like using Cavalry myself. They have plenty of uses. Depending on what you need it for the template is different.
As MP, just 2 width(one battalion) cavalry template, or full 50 width(25 battalion) cavalry with MP support company. They have high suppression and cheap. Using Interwar- Light tank as MP is best tho.

Fast civil war, and exploitation of gaps. Just 2 width cavalry, or 6 width cavalry can work wonders in any civil war, and in any early war where Ai dont have enough troops to fill the frontline yet. The best example is Chile against Argentina. Many 2width cavalry can overrun Argentina easily. Both point 1 and point 2 works best with Proper Heritage as army spirit. You can best see the power of Cavalry and the army spirit when playing as China or as warlord while fighting in China.

As a niche spearhead division. Some country has unique bonus to Cavalry, such as Poland, Afghanistan, Mughal India, in which case, their Cavalry can be even stronger than Infantry despite the technology/doctrine not updating the cavalry. In particular, if you can have Elephants. 36 width Elephants template can do world conquest easily. They are quite overpowered, you can see it is almost like cavalry and line artillery combined.

Training of future Panzer officer. When using cavalry, the officer will learn the Cavalry Leader trait and that is atk bonus to Cav,Mot,and Mech. You can more easily transition him into leading a Panzer division in future as your country develops.

Best doctrine for cavalry will be GBP, Right. I used it quite a lot for country that will be fighting in poor supply region, like China.
As for support companies, if it is assault division, i usually use flame tank, recon, hospital, logistic, engineer.
