Hey so it hasn't happen yet, however whenever the paradox launcher gets a new update and I go through with it, it always breaks and gives me the message that it is unable to locate configuration files, in the past I've fixed it by deleting the paradox launcher and reinstalling it, deleting my save games in the process, and I wanted to know if there was any way to fix for the future since I'm not sure if I've permanently fixed it yet or not.

make sure each user is using a wired connection from their computer to their router, (Most likely a CAT6/7 RJ45 aka Blue/Ethernet cable but an Optical Fiber connection would be the best case.)
There are mods that claim to speed up performance but aside from the ones that limit the scope of the game by either removing an entire area or putting an upper limit on troop count they don't do much for multiplayer (And every player would need this mod enabled)

One of the things you can have your lagging players do is go into the settings and have them play the game at a lower Refresh Rate/Resolution, disabling all of the extra GFX(trees, weather, ect.), lowering the zoom speed, & turning off the Day/Night cycle.

However if all else fails you may unfortunately need to kick the slowest computer, the game is only as good as the weakest link.

Perhaps one of the mods you've downloaded overrode the pdx_mp.dll (Usually only happens in lazy overhaul mods) Make sure to verify your files just incase it's gotten corrupted.
Having the game & mod on separate drives doesn't help.

Also what is your mod list?

You can usually enable the --debug mode when starting the game through commandline or going to the steam launch options tab in HOI4 Properties.

This could be a reason why the game works for a mod dev when it doesn't for a normal user since in Debug mode pdx_mp isn't loaded. 😅

Make sure your mods actually are on the disk first, if you have steam usually they'd live in
Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\394360
(Perhaps your drive was filled when the app was downloading or some other workshop weirdness)
Clearing the cashe of the paradox launcher can help if they are there and it just can't see it

Obviously the tried and tested method of uninstall/reinstall could work, but time consuming

might be your anti-malware, including windows defender. "protected access" in particular look in windows defender and see if you've gotten this incident

alternatively you can run the game as administrator, if neither work your OS may be corrupted.

4- Restart your pc
5- Install the base game again

9- If everything works after those steps you can risk and install any mods you want

1: Laptop RAM is not only expensive but also increasingly non-modular as the years go on aka you can't increase it.

2: I'd recommend using Performance Mode & having the Laptop plugged in.

3: for Palpatine's Gambit you need to be on Patch 1.10.8, have the Man the Guns DLC & the accompanying Music Mod.

some errors are present in the map defition and have been logged to error.log You might want to disable your mods and try again. If the fails, check intergrity of game files inside steam. If the fails, try clearing your user directory from the launcher.

Normally this would mean we do not have the same mods or sth like that but we do have the exact same mods and the launcher version is the same. I have some crash events with Yougoslavia.
I follow Autonomy Path, change to Fascism, and when I complete the focus to switch close to Axis (Tripartite pacte), I receive few days after an event from United Kingdom that basically offers 2 choices:

1. Cancel focus to Abandon regency
2. Start a civil war with main government country "JRZ" (Fascist one, so Ok for me)
   When I choose this 2nd option, game goes to end score table, and quit.
   If on main menu I choose to continue, I am in spectator mode where I can basically choose any country I want, and if I go to Yougoslavia, it has switched to Democraty and has lost most of his puppets.
   (It is the second time, I reproduce this... 😦 )

Raise the laptop using something that gives maximum air flow, you can buy metal frames to do this. Howver you can just use something sturdy, even Silicon chair caps would work
Adding air flow by putting the laptop next to a fan is also an option, but you shouldn't put it next to an AC unit unless you've prepared it for condensation.

If you've set up the workshop to download to a separate drive it will be there instead. (but you've probably not set up any additional steam Libraries.)

The only thing stored in the directory Major mentioned is the manifest for the steam workshop, You can install Mods manually in either Directory.

What parts of my PC should I upgrade to let hoi4 run faster in 5 speed? (specs: gtx 1660 super, ryzen 3 3100 and 16gb ram 2666mhz) in five speed, the lowest fps was 9 fps and the highest 35 ish fps and I average like 20fps. the textures are on low, I have disabled everything except the 3d soldier models and rivers.

hoi4 is a heavily dependent on AI, cpu is the way that AI works, the better the CPU the faster the AI can think. think of it giving the AI answers to questions quicker if you get a better CPU

I run a Ryzen 7 5800x, I can recommend it, but also factor in other stuff that you require

You can run Hoi on its own server in OBS mode
but it's probably connecting to data centers for the new Telemetry/career stuff you can opt out of in the settings.

hey, so I downloaded a mod a few days ago just to try it out, it was called More Research Slots and ever since I downloaded it from the workshop I cannot use my tech tree at all. I can pull up the menu of the tech tree but all I see is the tabs and 3 dogs with USSR hats on and the blank tech tree background that now says 'ETAX_TITLE_DOCTRINE_X'. I've unsubscribed from the mod, uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, nothing works to fix this. The game is still playable but I can't use the tech tree. And if I use any mods like the fallout mod I can't even open the tech tree. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have two screenshots so you can see what I'm talking about.
