if your having launcher problems go into files delete everything with hearts of iron 4 on it then go into steam un-install it and re-install it then try again if it does not work then then you have to try by other means this is for launcher problems only

when I want to play multiplayer w/ friends, we check to ensure that our checksums are the same, and the paradox launcher says my HOI4 game is on the latest (02cc), but when I click play and the actual game loads, I get an entirely different checksum to 02cc and therefore cannot join the multiplayer lobby as it's a different version. I've disabled all mods, DLCs so it's pure vanilla, and I even tried updating from Steam Beta and then setting it to disable Beta updates but so far nothing has worked, I can't seem to load the latest version

the fix for the mod-not-updating issue is to unsubscribe from the mod, wait 30 seconds, then resubscribe. the waiting is important, but it works

I recently bought the xbox gamepass on pc, decided to download hoi4 from the microsoft store. Whenever I press play in the launcher, the game doesn't launch and the launcher closes itself. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I've read about opening the hoi4 application in the program files but I can't do that since I didn't download hoi4 on steam.

what does the mod do? if its nothing big like an overhaul, you can just ignore the outdated warning and just run it anyway, see if anything crashes or breaks the game or not
plus if the mod's latest support is around 1.10 already, it should be relatively harmless, if it was 1.9 smth then you can start to expect things breaking. but even then, i still can run some mods that's last supported on 1.9 or below
