does anyone know how to fix the hoi4 issue of the game launching in vanilla even if it has mods enabled?

after going through it, only some of my mods like Millennium Dawn work, like if I pair it with instant war, the game negates it and won't allow war goals to be instant

You start a game then, unpause exit the game clear user directory and restart with mods if that doesn’t work ur gonna have to re download some mods

It’s probably faster to just delete the game and move on

You have to wait a while before re subscribing to mods because it takes a while to uninstall and I assume this is cause if you accidentally unsubscribe and click subscribe again it doesn’t delete it

not want to sound salty but it helps to read the actual error message: it says „access to <a certain exe> is denied“ so in that case you either have fucked up your file/folder rights for that file/folder (to solve this, set your user account as owner of the file/folder and give him at least the right to edit (better is „full control“)) or you are running a pirated copy of HOI4 and your antivirus is blocking the access to the certain file because its sus (to solve this, (WARNING! do this on your own risk!) disable your antivirus or add the certain file to whitelist) but be aware that only god knows what will happen to your computer if you run that exe then. maybe its just a false positive because it contains a legit crack or it really contains a virus. who knows? not me.

I have tried Deleting and forcing steam to re-download them, verify integrity, uninstall whole game and reinstall, i have tried to clear cache inside the launcher, among other things, I have spent over 3 hours trying to get my mods into the launcher and nothing has worked. and i have a SECOND problem ever since the new launcher came out when i start up the game (vanilla) and got to country select and every time i go to click start in the bottom right my game immediately crashes 100% of the time, i have uninstalled and reinstalled (again) verified files (again) delete and re-download the launcher (again) i have opted out of personalised content in the launcher, i have tried everything i could possibly think of and nothing works. Steam wont give me a refund either considering i have over 100 hours when i didn't have this issue. if someone could help me fix this broken game i would be extremely grateful.

When I start my game in 1.9 or higher with mods or without mods it tells me that the map is undefined or sth and that i should restart without mods. But when I restart it without mods it says the same. Rn I can only play in 1.8.2 or lower bc i have tried everything like checking for errors in the folders or reinstalling the mods folder and with that reinstalling the mods. I tried to play with and without dlc's and it didn't work either. Didn't find anything in the internet so I'm here.

For some reason my Launcher wont update and i always get this error message when starting the game. My launcher is Version 2020.4 and it tells me in the launcher itself that there ocurred an error when updating the launcher. Singleplayer works perfectly fine for me but when im trying to play mp with my friends it always say failed to connect. We have the same mods and we think its because i dont have a current Launcher. I already tried to reinstal it on different harddrives, i emptied my download cache, updating Java and also changed the download region. It seems like im not the only one with this problem on the internet but i dont find solutions. Help would be very appreciated help. Thx

hi, i bought HOI4 like a almost 2 months ago, and for 2 months i cant play with mods, i subscribe to them, download them, ive got preset enabled and enabled on launcher, i selected that preset, but then when i enter the game, it has no mods

The mp is built on steam framework, the one on Microsoft store is on paradox's framework

it's a bloated, memory-leaking, useless program that exists only to drive ads. it's an embedded chrome browser that could be made so much slimmer and faster by simply not doing so. what it does for the player is read/write a single json file. you can edit that file yourself, no need for the launcher

i dont need help with it. i bypass the launcher always no matter what. if i want to play with different mods, i just manually edit dlc_load.json myself

my issue is not in playing the game without the laucher

i am just frustrated that paradox would make such an obviously garbage piece of software and push it on us, when the previous launcher worked fine
